Randy Parker Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 Here is our every-other-week 10th Region Top 5 Performers list. The rankings below reflect Weeks 9 & 10 of the basketball season. Without question, this was the most difficult 2-week period to select just five performances. Kudos to all the young men out there who have played outstanding for their respective teams! Enjoy the list & tell us where we're right or wrong. #1- Brent Bach (Augusta)- Junior guard continues to do his thing in the scoring column & on the boards as well. In five games over the last two weeks, Bach earned three double-doubles: 36 points & 13 rebounds in a win over Model, 33 points & 11 rebounds in a win over Bath County, & 23 points & 11 boards in the loss to Campbell County. For the two week period, Augusta's main man averaged 27.6 ppg & 9.6 rpg. #2- Khmarkis Blanton (George Rogers Clark)- The junior big man who likes to knock heads on the gridiron did plenty of damage on the hardwood over the last couple of weeks. In three games the 6'4" Blanton earned averages of 20.3 ppg & 12.3 ppg, including a performance of 26 points & 15 boards in a win over Paris. #3- Shawn Johnson (Mason County)-Johnson made his presence felt early & often these last two weeks. The junior post player was dominant in the Royals victory over rival Fleming County, scoring 22 points (10-13 FG's, 2-3 FT's) & pulling down 10 rebounds. Johnson's 4 blocks on the defensive end were huge as well, but the icing on the cake was the big man's game-winning shot with 36 seconds remaining. In three games these last two weeks, Johnson's averages were 16 ppg & 11.3 rpg. #4- Snoop Johnson (Bourbon County)-It's been a disappointing season for Bourbon County, but Johnson has been a consistent bright spot. The junior guard has been on a scoring tear all season & that was most evident these last couple of weeks, racking up a points per game average of 29.2 in five games. The standout performance was Snoop's 48 points in a double overtime loss to Western Hills. #5- Nick Jackson (Scott)-The recent Scott revival doesn't happen without the performance of its unquestioned leader. The 6'3" senior put up 25 points in a dominating win over district rival Campbell County & followed that up with 27 points & 7 boards in a huge win over Perry County Central. Jackson closed the week out with a nice double-double of 13 points & 11 boards in a road victory over Conner.
