Kevin Spurlock will coach his first game at Perry County Central Friday as the Commodores meet 11th Region power Scott County in the nightcap of the PRTC Classic at Jackson County. Justin Johnson joined Spurlock from Sheldon Clark this season and, along with point guard Braxton Beverly and post Dalton Cornett, will form a solid trio. Scott County will counter with the backcourt of Quin Richarson and Trent Gilbert. The Cardinals are coming off a season opening 79-70 loss to Ballard in a game Gilbert struggled (5-18 from field, 1-8 from 3). Look for Gilbert to bounce back against the Commodores.

Can the Cardinals match the inside presence of Perry County Central? Can PCC handle the pressure Scott County is sure to bring? Those are the biggest questions for this encounter.

Last season, Scott County beat the Commodores 66-56. I look for another close contest. I will take the Cardinals by 4.
