Hazard 7 Williamsburg 0

This is one of the strangest scores of the night IMO. I would like to hear the details on this game. I know I questioned Williamsburg because of their schedule but they came into this game averaging 45 points a game and their lowest point total of the year was 20. So what are the details?

Williamsburg drove deep inside Hazard territory on five different occasions but couldn't score. Hazard's defense stepped up when it needed to and so did Williamsburg's. Just my opinion, but the Jackets outplayed the Bulldogs, but Hazard showed why they are defending state champs. The game was scoreless with under 3 minutes left and Williamsburg had first and goal at the nine yard line, but missed a field goal attempt (Hazard also missed a FG attempt, too) & Hazard scored from 80 yards out on an outstanding run from Olinger on the next play. Williamsburg drove back down to Hazard's 23-yard line, I believe, before getting picked off with less than a minute left. If I remember correctly, Williamsbur ran like 25 plays to Hazard's five in the fourth quarter but it just took one play to win. Both teams played great defense and Williamsburg's offense moved the ball better than Hazard's but couldn't convert when needed. I'd say Yellow Jackets will be pre-season team to beat next season in Class A's Region 3.

Williamsburg has been shut out three times since 2001 - by Hazard (2012, 2011) & Harlan in 2001.

Thank you for the info Les! That is a tough way to lose. Nothing more irritating than controlling the action, outgaining your opponent and losing the game.

Don't get me wrong. Hazard played great, especially on defense in crucial time.
