Sounds like this was a high scoring game as expected with Tates Creek winning the shootout. I followed on Twitter, so no details. TC Fans please drop in details. Sounds like turnovers and penalties didn't help the Cardinal's.

 

Tates Creek improves to 4-5

Tate's creek received first and went right down the field primarily through the air and scored on a 30 yard slant to RJ Taylor who took it to the house. Clark county received the kick. And methodically drive down the field with a nice mix of plays, run and pass, and scored on a QB rollout. Creek received the ensuing kickoff and Dennis Oxendine returned the kick 95 yards as Creek led 13-7 after a missed xp. From here, Creek turned the ball over twice and Clark County took early control

Clark County went to its bread and butter and kept the ball in big #33 and #1 hands as they hurt Creek on the ground. Neither defense looked interested in stopping the other in the first half. What was interesting to me was the very solid play of The Clark QB. Wasn't the kid we have seen on film. But he played a nice game. Score was 27-25 at the half Clark County lead.

From here, it turned into the Dennis Oxendine show, he scored 2 more TDs in this half and put it all on the field and left a very special Senior night at Creek. Creek seized control in this half with its ability to throw the football in the 3rd quarter. Graham Gordon throws a beautiful corner route to the other standout receiver #8 Tavon Dunn to push the score up 2 scores. Clark County would score late and cut it to a 1 score game. But Creek turned to the running game and basically ran out the clock in the 4th quarter.

Clark County played hard, and played to win. Hats off to them. They were hurt by some costly turnovers, and some very bad penalties. Also, Skinner got hurt early in the 2nd quarter and never really could get back in the flow of the game. Came back in and fumbled immediately. Didn't see him much from there. Tate's Creek showed its versatility on offense as it can throw the ball to multiple weapons. TDs scored by RJ Taylor, Tavon Dunn, Graham Gordon, and Dennis Oxendine for 3.

The officiating wasn't great in this game. For either team and the clock operator was bad in this game. The officials blew a 2 point conversion call where Oxensine blatantly ran across the goal line in front of the pile on, but the ref didn't see it and ruled him out. Those 2 points could have been huge. The last play of the game, creek had to punt with 4 seconds remaining. So our punter received the snap and proceeded to run around to run the clock. Ran for somewhere between 7-10 seconds worth of running before being tackled. The clock operator didn't start the clock till the very end of the play. He gets tackled with what looks like should have been 1 second left to Clark County, even though they never ran the clock. Clark county was mad, Creek was mad. So the end of the game had a lot of emotion. And one of Clark County's players while coming thru the line to shake hands spit in Dennis Oxendines face which led to a fight midfield between the teams. Wasn't a great ending to a very good game.

Up until the last 3 or 4 minutes of the first half, I thought Clark County was going to blow Creek out. But that seems to be the theme for the 'dores this year. Creek has been behind going into the second half in every game they have played with the exception of Corbin. Oxedine put on a clinic last night... Rushing, Recieving, Int's, Kick returns... The only thing he didn't do is tackle someone, but no one else was tackling either so why break the mold. I haven't said anything all year, but it might be time to stop throwing the ball around so much during practice and hit the "Oklahoma" drills a little more (and that says a lot coming from me!!!)...

I just wish someone would listen and break Creek out of the 3-4 allignment. Creek has speed but very limited size and strength. LOAD THE BOX AND DARE TEAMS TO TRY YOU UP TOP!!!!!!

 

Please Lord, LOAD THE BOX AND make teams be as 1 dimensional as possible. Take advantage of the 1 strength we have on Defense. It's secondary and linebackers. Creeks back 7 is very solid. But tackling Backs 5-10 yards deep is not a recipe for success.

I agree... Is there a reason Marshal Gant isn't playing defense? I know for a fact that Marshal can hit hard and follow through on a tackle. He's huge and quick... He's got nice hands and makes a good tight end, but if you're not wanting to play him on both sides of the ball, I'd put him on defense...

There is something up that I don't know about. Marshall, Dennis, RJ, Casey. All play sparingly on D......your guess is as good as mine.

Knew this would be a close game and thought the Cards could get this win. 0-8 for the Cards and next week against Madison Centeral dosn't look good either.

Thanks Gold. Your kids played very hard and with purpose. They can beat Central. We should have beaten Central. Lafayette completely shut them out. No reason for Clark County to not be in this game. We are looking to beat our Rival Lafayette this week and try and win this district. Or at least get a piece of it. Big big week for us this week

Our kids do play hard. We seem to be in the game till the 4th quarter. Did Sharrock go in as QB when Skinner went out? He is a Freshman and going to be a good QB.

Sharock started from the very first snap. Skinner was being used as a Back. He got hurt early in the 2nd quarter. And came back in and fumbled on his first play. The Sharock kid played very well I thought. Ran really hard. Threw the ball pretty well as well. Didn't make a ton of mistakes.
