31st District 2013

Featured Replies

The 31st District was interesting to say the least in 2012. Gallatin County repeated as districted champs, while Owen County was runner up. Gallatin, Owen, or Carroll could win the district. Gallatin and Owen has the best pitching, while Carroll has a strong nucleus of talent that is trying to get over the hump. Yeah, I know it's only August, but I am bored. What say you?

Will go with GC, good pitching with a strong core of players. They also have probably the only D1 player in the district.

I don't see much difference than last year.

As a Gallatin fan, I hope so. But, Carroll showed much improvement from 2011 to 2012, and I look for them to make some noise in 2013.

Carroll will be practicing twice a week starting next week. They will be better but so will Owen and Gallatin. Carroll has basically only one pitcher which will be interesting to see how it goes scheduling 3 tournaments so far, maybe even 5. Coach Hawkins is trying to play against some better competition to have them better prepared for the Districts.

Wow sounds like you have a coach that is trying to do the right things, good luck!

Carroll showed dramatic improvement this past season. I give Coach Hawkins and his staff credit for those improvements. The next hump to get over will be to not crack under the pressure of tournament games ( All A, District). Similar to where Gallatin was a couple of years ago. Gallatin and Owen have shown the ability to win in those situations. Defense could be an issue for the Panthers, as they they seemed to have trouble making plays in the field.

That's interesting. I heard Owen and Carroll both did similar things last year. I know Gallatin does not start practice until Feb 15th, a couple of the key players aren't able to start practice until early/middle March due to basketball, although one of them plays travel softball well into November.

Also helps that Carroll County has 4-5 players that play some travel ball. I know M. Ogden and K. Williamson played for 16u NKY Bandits this past season and will be with 18u NKY Bandits Fall 2012/Summer 2013 as far as I know. I heard that K. Ogden will be playing with 16u KY Swat and not sure of S. and M. Hawkins whereabouts, but pretty sure they are playing somewhere.

M. Hawkins is playing for the 16u Bandits which is the former Ohio Hawks and S Hawkins so far isn't playing anywhere yet. She did try out for the Swat last night.

Thanks for the info.

What does the Fall and Summer schedule for the 18u Bandits look like?
