Shout Out to CCH's Cory Severson

Featured Replies

As we roll into the end of the baseball season for most teams let me take a moment and give a shout out to CCH's Cory Severson.

Unfortunately, his high school career ended a few weeks ago when it was discovered that he had torn a ligament in his pitching elbow. Cory and Ben Maile formed a dynamic 1-2 punch on the mound for the Colonels over the last two seasons. Cory and his 2012 classmates have been working towards this season for quite a while.

You hate to see a high school career end for a kid who has worked hard for a long time on becoming a strong pitcher and who enjoys the game like Cory does. Like Ben Maile, Cory has an older brother who is one of the better hitters in the history of CCH. Cory , like Ben, has established his own credentials on the mound and kept the family name going strong in Park Hills.

Kid doesn't say much. I've known him for along time and haven't had too many conversations with him. Quiet, never gets in trouble, has Krumps' complete respect, strong teammate.

So when you're watching the 9th region tourney this week and you notice the first kid out of the dugout is wearing a brace on his arm give him a big ol' "atta boy, Sevvy." I will.

Always a shame when a kid gets hurt and his season ends.. Is he going to be playing at the next level? Or is he completely done. Best of luck to the young man

Cory was probably a NAIA level pitcher before the injury . My understanding is that he's decided his baseball days are over.

That's a shame about the injury and even more of a shame that he's hanging it up. Hopefully he will end up changing his mind. Good Luck though, no matter what he decides to do.

Most think that the injury to Severson hurt CovCath mostly on the mound but I am here to tell you that it hurt CovCath outfield more as Severson, was as good as an outfielder as Brady Reese was!

Indeed good luck to Cory and I hope that he doesn't regret not having surgery, so one day he could play baseball again. Great kid, wonderful Mon and Dad and a great teammate. Going to miss you young man!
