March 30, 201214 yr Of course McNulty starts off sticking his nose in another case. As always Bunk is warning him. How often do you think Bunk warns McNulty throughout the life of the series? I set the o/u at 100 and I'm taking the over.
March 30, 201214 yr "You cannot lose, if you don't play" - Marla Daniels This is the title quote. It's quite good for this early in the series. As we see now, it looks like Cedrick is very content not playing. But as we know he will play very soon and play hard when he does. The question is, did he lose?
March 30, 201214 yr Some of my favorite parts in the first season are the discussions in the pit. The scene with Wallace and Poot discussing nuggets is fantastic. Also, it's what makes it so hard when Bodie and Poot kill him later on. Wallace: He said 'Later' to the bone. Nugget that meat up and make some real money. It also fantastic that they can relate something as trivial as Chicken McNuggets back to their world. As we know, this is all the only world they know.
March 30, 201214 yr I'm sure I've mentioned this before, but Bodie is one of my favorite characters, if not my favorite. He may not be formally educated but nobody knows the game better than Bodie. Plus, as he says he is a soldier. Loyal to the end. Notice how he knows better than to give McNulty and Bunk his name or any pertinent information.
March 30, 201214 yr Bunk and McNulty really do have a rhythm. It's beautiful to watch them interrogate D'Angelo. D is showing he has a heart and a soft spot. Which ultimately leads to his death. Good guys don't win in Baltimore.
March 30, 201214 yr I never noticed it before but what about on the first meet Stringer starts flirting with D's girl?
March 30, 201214 yr Brilliant dinner scene with Marla and Cedrick. Best part is when Marla says the game is rigged. I think that's a sentiment echoed from all factions depicted in The Wire.
March 30, 201214 yr Author Of course McNulty starts off sticking his nose in another case. As always Bunk is warning him. How often do you think Bunk warns McNulty throughout the life of the series? I set the o/u at 100 and I'm taking the over. I'll take the under, only because he spends most of season 5 scolding him more than warning.

He is very "hard" in the first few episodes, and seems, after the season 3 collapse of the Barksdale clan to tire of it all and lose a bit of edge. Very good character though, no doubt.
March 30, 201214 yr First time we get to see Bubbs at work doing his hat trick. Said it before, I'll say it again: Bubs is a prophet.

Very good character though, no doubt.I think Bodie is more of the old-school street like Avon. Where the game is rough but it's a game and there are rules. The cold, unremorseful, and callous way that Marlo operates is quite different than the game Bodie is used to. I don't think he softens he just doesn't accept Marlo's way like he did Stringer and Avon's...
March 30, 201214 yr I'll take the under, only because he spends most of season 5 scolding him more than warning.Good point. Bunk definitely doesn't go along with McNulty's plan on S5.
