  1. Knightsdad, You're right on all accounts. Over the last few years, both X and LexCath have used this game to benefit them later in the year. For the past 2 years, X has benefitted by defending against Justin Burke's passing attack, in preparation for Trinity's similar offense, which they will see a few weeks later. When in Louisville, LexCath benefits by going through through the mental, physical, and logistical process of travelling to Louisville for a road game (which they hope to repeat in December) and playing a big, disciplined, hard-nosed team. By exposing LexCath's weaknesses, last night's game will only make LexCath better. I certainly wouldn't count them out in December. After all, it's still August.
  2. Congrats to Trinity. I, for one, never gave Trinity much of a chance to win Friday in light of September's game, and it reflected in my posts last week. So I certainly am eating my words now. An excellent job by Coach Beatty - first, to get you kids believing they can win, and second, to execute a game plan. X scored 48 in the first game, 6 in the second. Obviously, one coaching staff made adjustments and the other fell asleep at the wheel. Is there any reason why St. X is afraid to throw a short pass? It's always either a Hail Mary, in which the quarterback, who has a weak arm, throws it short so a wide receiver and two DB's can stand and wait for the ball to come down - or nothing. The only short pass I recall the other night was a dump over the middle to Mattingly, which led to a 20 yard gain. I could be wrong here, but that was my impression. I think this game will be a great example in years to come that coaches will use to explain to their team that playing a team the second time around is a whole new ball game.
  3. Relax. I am just stating what many people already believe. If you read my post, I do truly hope it is a close game. Blowouts, like the one in September, bore me. Read my post. We haven't "dominated all comers" as you seem to say I imply. In fact, I clearly stated that X has had a lot of close games, which is an advantage of sorts. Your sarcasm adds nothing to your posts and belittles the efforts of your fellow alumns who have added value to this board with insightful contributions . On any given night, a school with as much talent and hard-working students as Trinity can always beat X. However, for them to pull off the upset, they would have to have gained a lot of ground. That was my primary point.
  4. The beating X laid down on Trinity was remarkable. X dominated every facet of that game. For the sake of everyone brave enough to venture out to the game Friday, I hope Trinity comes to play. However, for Trinity to make such a turnaround and actually win this game would be very surprising. It seems to me that Trinity has played a very weak schedule this season, aside from X, Henry Clay, and their early trip to Nashville. X, on the other hand, is very battle-tested and has won several close games, which is to their advantage. That being said, I think X's offensive AND defensive lines are too much for Trinity. X should win by at least 2 TD's, but likely more than that.
