  1. I jump on Elliott bashers because of their jealousy, their fans are great. Small school, great team who doesn't like that? I've saw Holmes play twice, both times was last year. Tremendous team, athletic, Pittman is a stud. That is the team to beat. They would do well in any state, against any team. Scott Co. no so impressed with. They're not explosive offensively. Very solid, but not spectacular. J-town has a good team as does Eastern. Christian Co. has everybody back from last year and they are very talented, I don't think they play very smart on occasion. Too big of a rush. On the whole, there is about 8 teams that could win it. This state should be proud, it is a great year for BB.
  2. Understandable, they have a good team. I tried to break it up in regions that would make the state tournament.
  3. Mrs. Hoops you said it. Here's a poll for everyone. Eta Rho feel free to chime in. 1. Holmes 2. Elliott Co. 3. Scott Co. 4. J-town 5. Christian Co. 6. Moore 7. Shelby Valley
  4. A lot of this, "Elliott County doesn't play anyone, we don't know how good they are", is nonsense. These kids have been all over the country since middle school and have fared very well. This isn't there first rodeo so to speak. They know how to play and win. I'm not going to say they're going to play Sat. morning in March but they are definitely good enough to be there.
  5. Sums up the game, EC missed a lot of shots and never could get their press in gear. When they did, it bothered Cedar Hill. EC also went a lot of 1 on 1 due to being behind, which cut down on their assists. Cedar Hill played a solid game hard to fault them. Ferguson is too good of scorer to have many more games like this. I thought this game did show how good the Faulkners are against top notch competition. When they got the chance they whipped Cedar Hill's guards. Elliott will be fine, just had a tough shooting night.
  6. Had a lot of open looks, just didn't fall. South Charleston was a better perimeter team defensively than Cedar Hill. Cedar Hill was big, physical, and good down low.
  7. Both posts are right. EC couldn't buy one tonight and against this caliber of team, it makes it a lot harder to win. Cedar Hill is a GOOD team, among several down here. Normally if Elliott has an off night, they'll just shut the other team down on D. The regional final against East last year comes to mind. I can't see them shooting this bad for a while.
  8. Cedar Hill has a nice team, long and athletic. Gibson kid was a load in the middle. Match him with Glover who signed with Utah and #32, they have some studs in the middle. EC leans on the three, everybody knows that, and they just couldn't get them to fall tonight. I thought they gave they're usual all out effort in the 2nd half, but didn't play as intense in the first. I thought Knipp had a good game considering the competition. Ferguson had one of those nights you throw the tape away and forget about it. Perimeter was won by EC, Cedar Hill controlled the middle. Others have made mention, this is the type of teams that make you better. Myself and some others in the crowd kept saying, to shoot as bad as EC and still be in the game wasn't bad. I'm not going to compare Cedar Hill to other teams in KY, that is a waste of time. Needless to say, they would be ranked very high.
  9. I enjoy your humor Ms Liberty, but this game will be a tough one. The guy I work with really enjoys BB and has seen a lot of games. He said EC would be matched in quickness and would have to work on the boards. SC didn't shoot it that great, but really hit the boards on offense and scored a lot of transition baskets. Huntington was missing their best player for some reason according to fans at the game. PG.
  10. Disputes some of the other posts tonight, doesn't it. Every team gets their due and Elliott has waited for a while.
  11. Lions Mania, my wife was very good friends with the Pikeville coaches wife in college. I agree the Shelby Valley team is very legit. They remind me a lot of Elliott Co., they played in the state as sophs. and basically have everybody back from that team. Could very well see a S.V. vs. E.C. in state All A final, providing S.V. gets by Pikeville.
  12. Thats sums up everything I heard today. He said they were very physical for a high school team which goes back to some of them probably being football players. He was impressed with the Dobson kid. Likes to take it to the hole. Hudson was probably the player with size he said came off the bench.
  13. Thank you mcpapa, yes Elliott has been on the wrong end. Regretably more than I know, as an example, a state representative coached Elliott for one year and was beat very badly on several occasions. These things go in cycles, for the larger schools not so often. It amazes me some of the comments from obviously uninformed fans of whatever school.
  14. Boyd has a coach that is trying to install his program in a down year for Boyd. He tried it against the best team in the region and IMO a top 5 team in the state. It didn't work. Mays played his starters as few a minutes as I've seen him, and Boyd still pressed and ran. Result, a thumping. Zornes had some really good teams in the late 80s early 90s and he did the same. Hence, the opponents got thumped. I'm not sure how else I can help you.
