  1. That's exactly it. He's not changing with the game, and the changes he does make aren't what should be done. Everyone will suggest "A", so he does "B". When I played in high school and at EKU my coaches use to listen to both the players and the assistant coaches advice because they knew that we were the ones on the field and that anyone can have a good idea. I'll tell you one major problem he has as a coach is he doesn't use all his weapons. Last year is a prime example. PC likes to focus on one or two players instead of getting his whole team involved, which would make everyone feel important and play better. Look at all the past champions (the Patriots, Celtics, Gators, etc.) they used ALL their weapons and spread the field. PC likes to use 1 RB to run and 1 WR to throw to. Plain and simple the players spoke loudly how they feel by how many turned out to play. They know the truth. To the parents and teachers on this site, how many more kids have to suffer because the adults aren't running a fair program? High school football isn't supposed to be how it is in Winchester, and I'll continue to pray that God brings out the truth so those kids can have good memories and not bad ones. Why do you think only 2 or 3 former players return every homecoming? To be honest, I'm more upset at the parents than at the coaches. All you have to do is unite as one, pray, and demand change. I tried to make positive changes while my son was there, but all I got was a hand in my face, and I mean that literally. Stop complaining and start taking action! Here's a suggestion. Have a meeting with all the students and just listen! Yes they're only teens, but they are not kids. They're smarter than you think if you just treat them that way.
  2. I'm not surprised that only 35 players came out. There's one problem and one problem only... Coach Columbia needs to step down or demote himself to offensive coordinator where he can focus on one aspect. So I'll just sit back and watch GRC continue to crumble. To go 3-8 with all those talented seniors is proof that P.C. doesn't know how to manage talent. When you have players begging the coach to work on things they need help with, but all the coach wants to do is add more plays when they already have over 100, that's a problem. P.C. is a nice person on the surface, he's knowledgeable about football, but he plays favoritism and he's not good with motivating players or managing them. You need all those qualities to be an effective head coach, not just one or two. Coach Coleman is who I think should lead that team, and I hope he doesn't get fired just because I said it.
  3. Madison Central lost that game because they played with no emotion and determination. They were also outcoached, which surprises me because that's usually never the problem. QB #15 was oviously more in the zone when passing, but they started playing QB #4 who struggled most of the night. Bad play calls in the second half hurt too. Run plays on 3rd and long, not going to the hurry up offense when it became evident MC needed 3 scores to tie the game. It just seemed like Madison didn't want it. No emotion on the sidelines. I thought I was watching GRC for awhile. Good season though. MC will rebound for next year.
  4. This is a big rematch for these two rivals. I live in Richmond, and a few fans are thinking Madison Central might lose this time (I guess because they lost 4 of their last 5 games). Now that it's playoff time, it's going to come down to the coaching because you know the players on both sides are going to give their all. If GRC uses all of their weapons, spread the ball around, keep the playcalling mixed up, and bring their A-game on defense, then GRC should overpower MC and escape with a win. What does everyone else think?
  5. :irked: I'm tired of everyone acting like #21 Williams is the only good running back at GRC. #17 Conner and #10 Clarke are just as good. To be honest, the line blocks harder when #21 Williams is in. Half the time #17 Conner is having to dodge defenders in the backfield, whereas #21 Williams goes untouched until he's 5 yards downfield. People in the stands have been saying the same thing, including a couple of scouts I talked to. Also, some of William's big runs have come from blocks that Conner made at fullback. For Conner to be blocking so hard for Williams is commendable. Remember, Williams is a junior and a transfer. Conner and Clarke are homegrown seniors. This was supposed to be their year at RB. Conners was getting the job done just fine (He's still averaging 5+ yards per carry). Neither he nor the offense was the reason GRC lost to Montgomery County. We lost because our defense gave up too many points, not because Williams wasn't running that much. Conner and Clarke are getting done dirty at RB, but they're still being team players. I pray that God rewards them in college. All I'm trying to say is that GRC has 3 talented running backs, not just 1. If the coaches use all 3 of them equally like they did against Southwestern, we'll advance in the playoffs. If they rely on Williams alone, we'll lose. Use all your weapons, GRC, not just one. Spread the ball around and keep the play-calling mixed up and watch how dominant we'll be. May God B with U.
  6. A friend of mine told me that Highlands fans were the best he's ever seen. When they played at Madison Central they got there early and tailgated, then cleaned up after themselves. They brought their own trash bags and everything.
  7. Oh my God! What is PC going to do without his star player? Lord knows #8 Rogers is his only weapon. :sssh:
  8. :fight: You know I'm for GRC, 32. I've known most of those players since they were in middle school. Here's what I can easily see happening. GRC is down by 3 and has the ball on the 7 yard line. It's 4th and goal. GRC misses the tieing field goal, but a referee induced offsides penalty on Madison Central will make it 4th & goal on the 2 yard line. Of course PC will go for the touchdown to win, which of course we won't get because he'll run an iso up the middle with #8 Rogers, who weighs 175 lbs. soaking wet, instead of running #42 Greene, who weighs around 220. :irked:
  9. #33 Jones wasn't hurt. That's just how GRC's coaches are. If choice "A" is the best and most logical choice then they will go with choice "B". Been that way every since Paul Columbia took over. And let me not even say GRC coach's... it's more like the PC/Stultz show. They have their favorites, and they will take a loss if it means they play instead of the more productive players. There's a lot of shananagens going on at GRC. Everyone loves PC as a person, but not as a head coach. That's why so many parents are fed up. You'd think with GRC being one of the biggest schools in KY they would be about winning, but with PC running the show it'll never happen because he refuses to change and adapt as a coach. It's his job to get those kids prepared and motivated.
  10. One of the main problems with GRC is they don't use all of their playmakers at once. Why is #8 Rogers, #10 Clarke, #15 Conners, #33 Jones, and #42 Greene not on offense at the same time? #15 didn't even play until right before halftime, and he seemed to spark GRC's offense. Tack in some lousy play choices (ex. 4th & 6 on GRC's 30 yard line with 5 minutes left and down by 7). GRC should've punted and played for field position, but as usual GRC went for it and failed. I played defense in college. When coaches make bad/nervous playcalls, it affects the players too. GRC was simply out-coached and out-prepared. GRC played hard, and they were bigger and faster than SWrn, so why did they lose? Any team with slightly less talent, but fundamentaly sound and well coached will beat GRC almost every time. The only other team that on paper should beat GRC is Madison Central. So at worst, GRC should end up 7-3... but we'll see as the season unfolds. May God B with GRC!
  11. GRC's starting LB (#32) is still out with an injury. Paul Columbia suspended starting SS (#15) for next weeks game as an expample to all the players that complained about the coaching and not kicking the field goal. During the Tates Creek game, #15 was the only player at halftime that tried to get everyone motivated, and he's a valuable part of the team because he plays both ways. So this game against Bryan Station is going to be very interesting. I'm rooting for GRC, but I have no faith in the coaches. :creepy: GRC 16 Bryan Station 24
  12. It all falls on the coaching. It's their job to get the best out of their players and they can't. I know a lot of parents speak out against coaches without being qualified, but I've coached before, and I played college and pro football. GRC played just how they practice. I'll let another week or two go by before I really start voicing my opinion because this is going to be a long year. Paul Columbia suspended GRC's starting SS (#15) for next weeks game as an expample to all the players that complained about the coaching and not kicking the field goal. #15 was the only player at halftime that tried to get everyone motivated, and he's a valuable part of the team because he plays both ways. So next week's game against Bryan Station is going to be very interesting. Pray for us.
