  1. Congrats to Brian Weis and Brent Humphrey.

All three Ryle senior lefties will pitch in college.. That's HUGE.

    Weis to NKU.

    Layne to Mt. St. Joe

    Hughes to Transy.

Maybe a Layne vs. Hughes matchup in conference play down the road?

Congrats to Chas Moore. I look for him to have an immediate impact for coach Asalon's team. The young man can pitch!!!

  2. It will be interesting to see how all of the SENIOR leadership at both CCH and

Ryle is replaced next year. Lot's of talent in both CCH and Ryle's soph. classes last year. The seniors for both CCH and Ryle set the pace last year.

Will both teams have solid senior leadership next year?

Don't overlook Beechwood. They have four nice pitchers that all pitched on the 23 win '07 team. They have the bats, experience (lost 1 sr.) and the

toughness to compete. With Nichols on the mound next year, Dixie will be tough. They will be back in the hunt in '08.

Ninth region looks to be wide open!!!

  3. Wagner is a nice player. Lots of talent on that 07 team. How are the other

Raider graduates doing in summer ball? Any news on where the other Raider graduates are going? Heard that Lane pitched two shutout innings against the Colonels in June and has been a very effective lefty pitcher for his summer team as both a starter and reliever, sometimes hitting 85 mph. Isn't he going to Mount St. Joe to pitch?

  4. Bluegrass Chiefs have loads of talent. They have pitching depth, solid defense, and should have a nice hitting team this summer. Can't play short with only 11 or 12 players at this level of summer ball. Now that the Ryle players have arrived the Bluegrass coaches will have more options from game to game with 18 to 19 players available.

  5. If I'm not mistaken, O'hara caught all three of Ryle's game and he might call most of the pitches. Maybe part of Ryle's success is having a catcher that the pitchers feel comfortable with in big games. Does anyone know if any team in the tourney tried to straight steal on him? If so, what was the success rate? Lots more to the game than hits.

  6. Ryle put the pressure on in the bottom of the first with two outs. Nice first and third, double steal by Layne and Murray after a passed ball plated Wagner with the first run. Two runs on one hit, two walks and no RBIs. The pressure continued for pretty much the whole game.
