  1. Coach Sutton? Was he the coach last year? Nothing happened at Greenup that doesn't happen at many schools each year.
  2. Now here is a guy that you want to be around, someone who says what they want. Two things make me question him, his name "Gatorlover" and he says they need to play a "little" D. What about a lot of "D?" Gator tell me why Greenup was only 17-10 last year.
  3. Bluekysky, tell me why you think this? I beleive if one has an opinion they should be able to support that opinion with sound reasoning.
  4. Professor, I want your job or maybe you are retired, either way I envy you! You have made 9,095 posts since January 2004 or about 198 posts per month, or about 7 posts per day. You obviously know a lot of "stuff" to make that many posts. Just an observation.......Happy Thanksgiving. PS: How's your golf game?
  5. Run & Gun hey! I know you've heard that "beauty is in the eyes of the beholder." Well how do you know that this type of game is a really fast paced game? It may be too you, but to someone who really likes to get up and down the court, it may not be. It may be a run and gun game to you only because you have never really played in a super up-tempo game or program. It may look like a run & gun, but I bet there is a method to what looks like maddness, it fact I'm sure there is a method. There are lots of upsides to a super up-tempo game, to name a few: *kids love it *hard to defend against *puts tremendous pressure on the other team *enjoyable to watch. It has some down sides too just like any type of game. All types of styles of play has upsides as well as downsides. Coaching styles vary and game plans vary, who is to say what is best! It's way too early to say if this style will work or not, give the guy a chance. Once again his track record is that he wins!
  6. DUCK.... you sound like a reasonable person and a loyal supporter, good for you! Was this there first pre-season game? If so be patient, hopefully the coach saw what you saw and he will work on these issues in practice. This is why they have preseason games, remember Rome was not built in a day. If you want to know what the coach is facing and what he is trying to accomplish go see him and talk. He is a person just like you and me and if he is any type of coach at all he will be open to discussion. Just don't get angry if he has a different view than you. Remember his track record shows he knows what he is doing. Most of us on here are just old retired coaches, Monday morning quarterbacks or parents trying to lobby for their child. Let's keep this all in proper perspective.
  7. I didn't see the game. But I would suspect the coach and players are still feeling each other out and the players may still have a hangover from last year’s issues. You state they need to be taught to play as a team, of which I say starts at home. I have children that play sports (HS & college level) and I don't expect the coach to teach them to be unselfish as players, that's what I've been doing all their lives. Being unselfish and a good team player is a way of life and starts at a very early age. Coaches only have these players for a limited time each season and there are only so many things that can be accomplished. With this new coach only been there a very short period of time, I'll assume he is trying to break old habits and instill a different culture and attitude within the program. Assuming the players are at a level where they can adequately compete with other players in the county, this team will be successful. I have seen the resume of the coach and he has always had a very good winning record wherever he coached, so he knows how to teach the game and win. I also know the community is solid and will support this team as they do all the others. Football will be over soon and the basketball team will get another player or two that will help.
  8. One of the mistakes many HS coaches make, they fall in love with their system (plays) and forget what the game is all about. It is shooting, dribbling and rebounding. These are the major skills HS coaches should concentrate on! It sounds like the new coach has one of these three items figured out. Many old school coaches practice their offense to-death and neglect to teach the "skills" needed to play the game.
  9. Two or three hours a day? Tough to believe...............
  10. Elliott wins this going away, away, away, away, away...................
  11. Roger Zornes is at the top of the heap! Mays and Baker are next and then all the rest...................
  12. I would go with: 1. Elliott - #1 all the way. They have it all! 2. Fairview – Solid underclassmen 3. East - Talented ready to make a run 4. Rose Hill – Several very good players. 5. Ashland – Biggs enough said 6. Raceland – Would be rated higher if they had another strong player 7. Boyd – Nice group 8. Greenup – Well-coached, surprise of the group. 9. Lewis – Strong leaders 10. Morgan – Perry is a good player needs help. 11. West – Getting better 12. Rowan – Don’t know 13. Bath – New coach won’t help, may hurt 14. Fleming – Very young but athletic 15. Menifee – Must work hard to stay away from bottom. 16. Russell – Your guess is as good as mine.
  13. I have no interest in Bath or Greenup.............. I have a real team. Elliott County all the way baby!
  14. Greenup County 2006-2007 TOTAL PTS Scored= 1580 TOTAL PTS ALLOWED= 1514 OVERALL record= 17-10 REGION record= 11-7 DISTRICT= 2-3 Not a sterling record, plus you don't know what all happened behind the scenes. But you will this year.
  15. Did anyone hear that Bath's basketball team may have a TOP player ineligible for this year? Anything to this?
  16. Greenup is getting past the "old coaches issues" and they will be a vastly improved program. You will now begin to see real baskletball at Greenup.
  17. I can understand their postion............. I try to avoid using Preparation-H too!
  18. Even if it is only one returning starter, based on last years fiasco, that could be a good thing!
  19. Competive individuals do not "dodge" things, they meet them head on! Greenup's coach didn't dodge anything, but it may have been the otherway around.....
  20. Now that Greenup's ship is righted, I see good things in their future!
  21. By the way when does Bath and Greenup play and where is it? Who will win and what will be the score?
