  1. It's official, I heard today, Scott Hundley will be joining Keith Griesser at Montgomery County High School.
  2. Open gym today from 4-6! He has taken a lesson straight from coach Hicks, "we are going to win because we work harder and longer than anyone else." It's not by chance SC wins and it won't be by chance Montgomery Co. wins.
  3. Word is he is Montgomery Co. is having a press conference today to introduce Keith Griesser as the head coach. He is very deserving and will make a major difference for that school.
  4. I totally agree you can't replace greatness like Coach Rison with a small school experienced coach. You must replace greatness with greatness...Griesser has won a National Championship with Georgetown College and a State Championship with Scott County, things like that don't just happen by coincidence. This in my opinion would not be a "chance" he is a PROVEN WINNER.
  5. What if those that are the experienced ones haven't ever had success as a head coach? Would it still be considered a "chance" if they've never had success...I feel like that's the same as being an assistant coach. That said, go with the Assistant that's won at all levels.
  6. The SC assistant, Griesser has interviewed for the job. From what I hear there are four interviews and they have already taken place...not sure who the other interviewees were but from what I hear they are small school coaches with experience. I know Griesser has experience in college and high school, winning titles at both levels. This has got to count for as much as coaching at a small school. Question: Do you entrust a program that is trying to lure the region tournament away from Mason Co. with a multi-million dollar gym and hopes of a big time program to a small school coach with head coaching experience or to an assistant with great credentials and knowledge of success at a big time program without head coaching experience? I go with the assistant...If he gets a chance he will win!
  7. He not only is well spoken you should hear him sing. He sang at a friends wedding and he was unbelievable...I think vocally he could make the boys hear him.
  8. Basketball has become a year round sport. I know many of the programs that are serious about their basketball will start back immediately after spring break. I know many of the schools in the sweet sixteen will be in the gym directly after the break. At many of the schools it's not coaches that are mandating this, it's the kids...those JV players that saw how sweet it was to make it to "RUPP" or those that didn't quite make are chomping at the bit. What schools do you know will start back right after spring break?
  9. The word on the street is Keith Griesser, the assistant coach at Scott County, is interested in the Montgomery County job. He has won a national championship at Georgetown College and a state championship with the Scott County Cardinals. He has a great rapoir with the players and extensive knowledge of the game...I think he would be a great hire!
  10. I'd like to hear some opinions about who will have tough teams next year in all regions. Let's take into consideration: 1. Returning starters 2. Team chemistry 3. Coaching 4. JV team in 06-07 5. Region 6. level of competition I think many of the Lexington schools will be returning starters and unbelievable athletes...Scott Co. will be returning 3 starters (Lee, Hundley, Mackey) and Portwood, Adams, Phares, and Burchfield off the bench.
  11. With the unbelievable season the Scott Co. Cardinals just completed it lends the question, how many teams can compare to the dominance of this team? Accomplishments: -State Champions -Undefeated against in state competition -Defeated #1 team in nation
  12. I think all were very good choices for all tournament team. It's a shame that they only give out a specific number of awards. It was a surprise that Hill wasn't on the all tourney team but Rice and Henderson did play very well and were deserving. Matt Walls, Cameron Hundley, and Bud Mackey all played very well during the tournament. These kids all made strong cases for themselves as far as recruiting goes. I think Walls should end up at UK on SCHOLARSHIP!
  13. I have never met a kid that had such contagious qualities as Matt Walls. He is a born leader, role model, teammate, and most importantly a winner. Not in the sense that he won the state championship but moreso that whatever he does in life he will succeed at. Any college that gets this kid, Mr. basketball or not, will be getting a steal. Being someone who played at the next level, Walls is a big time player and will have a great collegiate career because he is hard worker. The year is complete and Scott Co. is on top if that doesn't deserve a vote for Mr. Basketball then I don't know what else a single individual can do for his team. :thumb:
  14. Saving the legs, saving the legs. This isn't Coach Hicks' first rodeo, he knows how to save players legs in a tournament that plays two TOUGH games on Saturday.
  15. What is the situation at Danville? Have they found a new coach yet? With Danville being a football school is there any chance to start a successful program or do some of the athletes not play both sports?
  16. Every team needs players that work hard, understand, and ACCEPT their roles as role players. We always here about the star players putting up big numbers for their ball clubs because they steal the headlines in the paper. Let us all take this opportunity to give a shout out to all those under appreciated "role players" who have done their part in making you team what they are.
