  1. Katy has already tried to enroll at LCA once and was not admitted. Not sure what would change to allow it this time. Also, I know Catholic will be tough, but Keyla and Cash will be big losses for this team. Wasn't a lot of depth this year and now you're asking at least one of those girls to contribute big minutes. If they stay at the top, coach Hans is doing one heck of a job.
  2. crimedoc, I think that would be a better argument, but good luck in getting the khsaa to change their ways. I also wasn't trying to slight your knowledge of all tournament team selection, that was more intended for give&go. unfortunately, we as coaches and players have to operate under the procedures each tournament chooses. if maggie performs the same way she did this year, she's sure to get plenty of recognition next year. until then, lets give the girls selected the credit they deserve.
  3. crimedoc, as mentioned earlier in this post, unfortunately each team only gets a certain amount of players dependent on their finish. If this was selecting the best kids overall, you and give&go would have a claim. Maggie is a heck of a player and she will get hers eventually. I don't think she needs hardware sitting on her shelf to feel she's a good player.
  4. Give&Go, should Pruitt have been picked over Lee? Most coaching staff's have input into these types of votes, so why didn't Pruitt get selected over Lee?
  5. Scooterbob, I understand. We were talking about the same things, just putting them in two different scenarios. I don't know much about the situation there. I know a little about the teams. I have been in those meetings with those votes and they are never fun situations. I hope everything works out in the end. Good Luck the rest of the way.
  6. Two different sports in two different regions. Regions 10 and 11 and both are small schools.
  7. Scooterbob, I will agree to disagree with you. I have been very involved in small school athletics in different sports in Kentucky. Before I was invovled the school had success and has had success since I've been invovled. It is the smallest school in the district and one of the smallest in the region, yet they have had more successful years than down years. They have had their down years as "all" schools will. I do understand Rose Hill is a bit different in that they are one of the smaller schools in the state, but I am referring to smaller schools in general. Is it a tougher task to maintain competitive programs? No doubt. But, this is my competitive drive and coaching insticts talking, I think by electing to blind draw and hope for the best whether you are up or down is not asking for your players to be the best. I want my team to be the best and earn their way if they deserve to be there. Again, this is my opinion. I understand your point on the blind draw and it not affecting you when you're up and helping when you're down, we just have different philosophies. I wouldn't say it is a lack of understanding.
  8. Big Bubba, I wasn't necessarily referring to Rose Hill and believe me I do understand that small schools have issues when it comes to enrollment. I come from that area. What I was saying, is that's why it is even more important for small school especially, but every school to develop quality feeder programs whether that is RH's one team or Ashland's five teams. It is more about the quality you are building and not the quantitiy. I think that is why you see some of these bigger county schools not produce b/c the coaches are not that involved in the feeder programs. My main point was that I think all districts should seed regardless of what size school you are at. If you're working hard to build a program I think you will reap the benefits.
  9. Scooterbob, while I understand your reasoning for small schools not seeding, I think you also are overlooking the advantage seeding has for the years those small school teams are the one's dominating. Looking at Rose Hill the past couple of years, if they get a bad draw and have to play someone they have matchup problems with, then a blind draw is not productive. But if they get the top one or two seeds because they've proven they can beat the other two teams in the district, it is much more benificial for them. Unfortunately, both the blind draw and seeding have advantages and disadvantages. I think small schools do themselves an injustice when they just give up and hope for a lucky draw rather than working hard in middle school and throughout high school to get better. It doesn't matter what size school you are at, the well is going to run dry some times and your kids have to learn to battle through that.
