  1. GRC had a nice run in the first quarter, but the second quarter (especially the late three at the buzzer) really put a damper on their sales...

Congrats to Mason, hard to believe this was the first time I had been able to watch them this year, with my school studies and not playing Bourbon for the first time in what seems like ages, didn't get a chance to see the Royals first hand till tonight... It's amazing to me how much Miller has improved from year to year...

It was pretty clear to me... Mason is the "now" team, GRC is the "future" team... I know the people around the 40th have talked about it all year, and I think the region will clearly see it... I wouldn't be shocked to see multiple state appearances for GRC the next few years... Stenzel is the real deal, I like the Rogers kid, and Hatton is going to provide quality leadership next year... plus for my money, Humphrey is the best coach in the region....

  2. Congrats to the Lady Indians.... quite an accomplishment....

Mason has nothing to be ashamed of.... the run they have had is defintely nothing to sneeze at... Chambers, Cline, and Litzinger have been a joy to watch...

Jehlik was the difference... she has improved greatly since the beginning of the season, and it shows....

Montgomery can make a deep run in state if they play like they have since their loss at Bourbon in early Feb... after that game they have taken off like a rocket...

  3. Play by Play,

What makes you say that Mason Co. has the best two players? I know it's a matter of opinion, but you're gonna have to back that one up! All four players were first team all region, and yeah, the two from Montgomery don't have the career point numbers of those of Mason Co. but you gonna have to come with more than the point numbers to say they are the best. I'll agree with your opinion if you can persuade me but for now I'll take the Montgomery Co. two over the Mason Co. two.

I said arguably.... didn't make an opinion either way on that... I do think Chambers is the POY, but to be honest you can throw those 4 in a hat.... any coach in the region would love to have any one of the four....

Like you said, if you look at the career numbers, you'll take Cline and Chambers... but to be honest, I was more impressed with Lee and Prewitt (even in a loss to Bourbon in a game I did on Feb. 1) the four times I saw them this year than with Chambers and Cline the two times I saw Mason play against Bourbon/Paris (even when Cline and Chambers had 30 and 26 against Bourbon in mid Feb...)

  4. It's so close to call between Prewitt and Chambers... let's break down the final region regular season statistics...

    Chambers

    1st in scoring (21.7 ppg)

    5th in rebounding (8 rpg)

    13th in assist (2.3 apg)

    7th in steals (2.5 spg)

    2nd in 2 Pt. Shooting (56.5 percent)

    1st in 3 pt. shooting (56.3 percent)

1st in free throw shooting (81.4 percent)

    Prewitt

    7th in scoring (14.4 ppg)

1st in assist (5.3 apg)- 1st by a wide margin

    1st in steals (3.6 spg)

    5th in 2 pt. shooting (48.3 percent)

4th in free throw shooting (75.7 percent)

Tight.... Montgomery has the better overall record, but I have to go with Chambers in a close close battle...

    1. DeSarae Chambers

    2. Maggie Prewitt

    3. Lacey Cline

    4. Mackenzie Lee

    5. Molly Norton

  5. After seeing both teams multiple times, I think Mason arguably has the best two players (Chambers and Cline) but Montgomery has the better overall team...

Mason is going to have to get production out of Menke and Smith to win... if they have decent nights, they got a real shot...

Lee impresses me more every time I see her... solid all the way around....

Jelik will be a wild card for the Lady Indians... at times she looks like the best player on the floor... at other times she looks out of sync....

Another good battle between the two best teams in the region the past 4 or 5 years, but I'll take Montgomery again...

    Montgomery 64

    Mason 58

  6. Since I was a little boy, all I could think about was being a sports broadcaster... I always wanted to be like Bob Costas or Brent Musburger, someone who could bring the action home to the fan... it's really been a goal of mine for ages, and now to be able to do it is quite fun... maybe one day I'll get the chance to "make it big"... but you never know...

I was wondering what your childhood dream was... what kind of profession did you want?

It's been forever since I have posted in this particular forum... so please forgive any overlapping previous threads... I'm a fool to begin with...

  7. Money Money Mooonney,What it all boils down to.

    That's the truth... :thumb:

I'm intrigued by the GRC-Mason matchup... last two matchups in region have been outstanding, GRC's youth vs. Mason's experience this go around... should be a fun contest...

How good would a Knowles vs. Miller region take 3 have been... too bad Knowles is with Ricky P now....

I look for a Mason win, but closer than the 67-50 score from Feb. 8.... especially if guys like Purvis/Williams/Miller step up and have nice games...

  8. I just picked up on this.

After having seen Paris in the 10th Region "A" and State "A" tournaments I thought that the Lady Hounds would certainly advance to the 10th Regional Tournament.

I was surprised not only that Clark County beat them, but also by the margain of victory. Perhaps their one point loss in the district finals to Montgomery County validates their victory over Paris.

As far as being outcoached, I've watched Coach Terence Brooks from a distance since he took over the reins of a very mediocre girls basketball program at Paris and elevated it to the ranks of a perennial "A" contender and 10th Region at large contender. This man knows what he's doing and gets the best out of the girls who play for him.

Often game plans go south, or another team catches fire, or perhaps his team didn't match up well with the Lady Cards, but, trust me on this one - the man didn't get outcoached nor will he ever get outcoached.

    Congrats to the Lady Cards!

Couldn't agree more, after covering Brooks the last couple of years, I dont think I have ever left a game saying he was outcoached... solid all teh way around... :thumb:

Didn't get a chance to go, but obviously disappointing for the Lady Hounds... but like others have said in this thread, you could have thrown 2-4 in the 40th in a hat... best district in a very solid region...

  9. Didn't get a chance to go the game, but looks like Massie and crew have installed a winners attitude into the players... pretty impressive effort last week, and a winning effort this week....

The previous coaching staff was a solid bunch of people, but had bad luck getting kids to come out and play... and some of the kids they did get out really lacked a passion for the game.... Massie has been pretty successful in getting players out (had a good number of kids last year) and they actually play decently at times in some games last season even though scores wouldn't indicate that...

From doing radio in previous seasons, I know the crowds have been down big time, hopefully the crowds pick up again and support the team and the local radio station will get the funding to cover the team for those who can't make it out....

From the looks of the schedule, they could win a couple more games before the regular season ends.... hopefully the team can build on tonight....

  10. Call me a wuss but my emotions are all over the place at the start of every semester, there isn't one semester that starts that I dont think I just want to quit....

I dont know if anyone else feels that way but I thought I would share..

  11. Bourbon should have a better team, wont win only two games again...

If I find out anything I'll post it, but it should be another quality field...

Brentwood did not play in the KBS last season, but Oak Hill and a couple other out of state team did...

I wouldn't be surprised to see Mason and Scott Co. along with the better Lexington schools, perhaps a Louisville school and one or two WKY teams...

Bourbon has played mountain teams (Wolfe Co. and Harland) recently after getting killed by Brentwood in 2004...

  12. Callie is the new chief resident, but the Chief will have to decide whether he wants to keep the title, or if he can handle the job and family life at the same time...

The character of "Lexxie Gray" has been signed to atleast 13 episodes next season according to reports, look for her to be a regular character from now on...

I really think ABC had something to do with the ending... Burke's character (Isiah Washington) had some anti-gay remarks toward T.R. Knight (character of George) on more than one occassion during the shooting of season 3.... really have no idea what to expect there...

I think it's important to also realize the symmetry of Izzie's character.. starts the season heartbroken, takes 3 or 4 episodes to even enter the hospital again, then gets to be an actual doctor again only after saving the guy who was trapped under a car... then comes back down with her love with George at the end... sets up alot like the end of Season 2, only now the love triangle with between Izzie, Callie, and George...

If you watch the first season of Grey's, and compare it too now, the character who has changed the most has been Alex without question... he was added to the show at the last minute (had to be added into the pilot with reshooted scenes), was a pure butthole through much of season 1 and 2, but then we started seeing his personal side at the end of season 2 and certainly in season 3... I really like what they have done with his part...

I'm really interested to see how they make Addison leave... does she just pick up and leave and they just mention it in passing at the start of season 4? That will be

I have a really bad feeling about the spinoff "Private Practice"... Kate Walsh is talented and extremely attractive, but I didn't care too much for the backdoor pilot that aired with GA on the two hour episode on May 3... I'd be shocked if Walsh doesn't go back on GA if the show flops....

  13. I can understand why someone would think season 3 wasn't as good as season 2, but I think it's important to look back at how good season 2 was....

    1. you can make a serious case that season 2 of Grey's Anatomy is one of the better seasons of any drama this decade.... (I would say it was the best)

    2. They benefited from having 27 shows in season 2, including a two-part Super Bowl program that was the fourth most watched show of 2006... had a ton of momentum with fresh storylines...

    3. I think ABC hurt themselves when they took a month break over the Christmas holiday (had 5 weeks between new episodes from early December to mid-Jan)... kinda took some momentum off the storyline.... I think if you purchase the DVD's for season 3 (as I plan too), you'll look back and see it really wasn't that bad of a season...

    4. If you just started turning in to this season, I can totally understand how you would be confused, etc... for people who have watched the show since the beginning (or caught up watching the DVD's like I did), you'd probably gain a better understanding of what they were trying to accomplish...

Overall I agree with GT, I thought they did a pretty good job in season 3 of adding some new twists to old storylines... in a season that started with Meredith's choice between Finn and Derek ends with Meredith having a choice on Derek....

  14. Mus 100 A

    P.S. 101 A

    Geo 324 C

    Geo 365 A

    Soc 101 A

I had PHI 120 (logic) my first semester at UK, and it was in Memorial Hall, (around 750 kids)... I had to drop, absolutely outreagous...

I'm currently taking MA 123 at LCC, had to drop it in the fall because again math in a large room (around 300 kids) isn't exactly ideal.... just looking to pass in a smaller class....

  15. Coming from USA? Could be a lateral move.

I would think his chances of getting a better job than USA could happen just as quickly as Associate Head Coach. I'm not saying I believe its a possibility, but playing devil's advocate a bit.

Matt Painter went from SIU to Purdue as the "associate head coach" in 2004 after Gene Keady had announced his retirement, he was guaranteed the head coaching position the next season...

That's the only time I can remember of anyone stepping down as a head coach to become an assistant recently....

Highly doubt he would do that... but you never know in this wacky world of college basketball....

  16. I'd bet neither one was there, just a lot of hearsay.

Usually your right, but I can vouch that he was there, I had to sit next to him for nearly 2 hours... and he really does sweat a ton... it was a pleasure talking basketball with him however, seems like a really great guy...

Miller played a C game today, but he made some big shots in the fourth quarter when he needed them... Brossart needed this game in the 40's, and unfortunately for them the score was very similar to last year's results in the semi's, a game they also lost in similar fashion....

Can't make it to the final tommorrow, but I look for just as good of a game as last year....
