What will Lincoln look like this year with losing their offensive coordinator and those 2 studs?
From what I hear and have read, they are similar to Mercer. They lost their horses in the backfield along with alot of senior leadership from last year. I assume they will also be playing alot of young kids.

Who would have won last year? This year?
I don'y know who would have won but, it would have been one heck of an atmosphere for high school football. Much like the Boyle/Danville game. I really think area football here with Mercer and Lincoln rising up with Boyle and Danville is going to make for some special football here.

I hear the mayes kid for Mercer has an injury. I don't recall seeing him play last year but, I hear he is a playmaker.
-
Yeah, I'd like to know as well.

Buffalo Gap if you know...... I am curious as to why Boyle is traveling again to Mercer this year? This is a huge gate for the home team which will be Mercer's again this season. I'm sure that there is a good reason as to why, cause I can't believe the school would pass this amout of gate money up. There has to be a simple reason why, but no one that I know on this end knows. My only guess would be to help Mercer out since they have had a hard time with getting thier games finalized and finding teams to play them.
I was wondering about this as well. Is this similar to the deal Boyle had with Danville last year where they were having problems with their field? Cause they were suppose to play the ADS at Boyle but had to play at Admiral stadium where they play at this year as well. Just a thought.

The Mercer Titans will just take it indoors if necessary.

Here is the bottom line. No contract means No game. Period. Every HS School in the state of KY knows THAT! And I am actually suprised that MC wanted to play Somerset, because Somerest has always made them look bad in past scrimmages for the past several years, including last years scrimmage.
I think Mercer outscored Somerset 38-0 in last years scrimmage. Good call there.

Why would both schools not want to schedule a game if they both have an open date?? I need Mercer to schedule the game. After all I did predict they will loose half there games in 5-A.
Why don't you go on and bet your jeep on that one jeepman. I will honk my horn as I pass you by walking on the side of the road.

I can't wait to bring this thread to the top after week 11 of the season. Just isn't going to happen. Four of the strongest teams in the state are in 5A. They are usually in the state top ten. No way Mercer Co. runs the table to the state championship game this season.
Who on here has made that claim? You are getting ahead of yourself. The debate is whether they will be highly competitive or not.

On a side note, it's interesting how Mercer is all upset over losing a game they expected to be playing...seems like they left ten schools in a similar situation last year. Although I'd imagine those games did have one small difference...going by the timing of the merger, I'd guess most, if not all, of those games had signed contracts already in place. Could be wrong on that but the similarities are there nonetheless.
I don't think Mercer dropped anybody from their schedule last year. I believe it was Harrodsburg.

Two years ago Mercer passed the ball quite a bit if remember correctly. Or alot more compared to last year when they didn't have to throw the ball. Justin was a pretty good Qb. They just had a dynamic duo in the backfield that broke the state rushing record. This year they will have a new Qb. Will it be trevor? I like his potential. He is definitely an athlete with a descent looking arm. As for the Russell game last year I have to hand it to that whole Russell team. But, especially to clarke and the wills kid. That hit wills put on jackson to start the game set the tone. It jarred the whole Mercer side. I knew that it wasn't going to be business as usual for the Titans that day. Hey purplepride, I made my first two keeps in the fantasy league. I'm still debating whether or not I should keep deangelo williams. My goal is to not finish last this season.
-
Yeah, I hope these kids don't miss out on high school football. I'd like to have slone over at Mercer.
-
I don't think anyone from Mercer is claiming to be king of 5A. But, I don't think they care for the doubters who are throwing it at them. There has been too much talent come from that area for them not be successful. They may never win a 5A title but they will be in the hunt.

The facts are as follows...Head Coach resigns, then he hires back in...Recently Burmuda grass was sowed. Some say it will be ready and others say it won't...Mercer County scheduled to play Somerset@ Somerset then Somerset is not playing them. Now Somerset is playing Metcalfe Co. @ Metcalfe Co....My concern is that Somerset is scheduled The Ray Correll Bowl for August 24. Southwestern is sheduled to play Rockcastle County in the first game of the season. Is the field to be ready or not? Is the Bowl to go on if the grass is not full. Not much info coming out of the Somerset Camp...
But, I still don't understand why they backed out. I can't see Mercer finding a game now for that week. If their field was a problem they could have asked to swap home dates for the series. No doubt that Mercer is the big loser here.

good luck to mercer co. from your friends at russell

Yeah, I'm going to miss seeing Russell in the playoffs now. Good luck to you guys in 3A.

I thought Jackson and Ford were juniors last year.
Nope, they both graduated last year. Mercer will have some young speedy backs led by Nathan Grithin who is a strong north and south runner. But, they won't have the speed of the duo from last year.
-
What is Somerset expecting to have this season? Is it too early to talk about match-ups? I know Mercer lost alot of kids off of last years squad including their top 3 backs. New Qb to work with, entirely new secondary, lost a couple of very good linebackers, but both lines will pretty much be the same as last year, almost. They will have good team speed but not like they had last season. I'm just needing my football fix.
-
I live in Mercer co. now. But, I grew up in somerset. So, I will definitely make a couple of trips back to somerset this year.
-
So is the game being played in Somerset? I think Mercer is already playing at Southwestern and Pulaski Co also this season.
-
I am definetly looking forward to the Lincoln v. Mercer game. Its a battle of each schools former head coach, neither of which are too schabby. Should be a barnburner and a rivalry for some years to come.
Yeah, I believe that will be a great game. I'm pretty sure it's at Mercer this season. Sept. 7th I believe.
-
I noticed Mercer County has only 5 games listed on their schedule. I would have though that it would have been complete by now.
-
The Mercer Co. game will be a tough one. Alot of people have given them a thrashing this past year. But, they are tough. Alot of speed and talent at many positions. They are hard to run on.
-
I think it is going ot be great for central Kentucky football to have Mercer and lincoln in the same district, couple that with an emerging rivalry with boyle co. and things get even more exciting. I think Mercer has a lot more returning than most people realize.
Yeah, I think trevor short at qb for Mercer is going to be a player. He will be a dual threat. And, I like the young backs that Mercer will put on the field this fall. Add that to an experienced offensive and defensive line they will give Lincoln a game for sure. I'm looking forward to it.

Anybody know where the Lincoln/Mercer game will be played? I look for this series to be a great one this time around.

I see why Somerset backed out on Mercer County now.
