  1. I applaud Coach Herron for his schedule. If he turns things around and wins his third district title in a row, then a bunch of folks will be eating some crow. Wburg has been in every game thus far and will learn a great deal from the losses. I have never seen a Jacket team lay down and I would expect this group to play with all their heart and effort each night on the field. Now, that may not translate into 10 wins this year, but win or lose the Jackets will always have Pride in their school and represent it well.

  2. Congratulations to the Redhounds, the ADS are down this year, so don't hang your hat on this win. Your field is in awesome codition. Good job..

That was kinda my feeling as well Rebel88. Danville will no doubt improve and be a tough out for some team come playoff time. Corbin has alot of room for improvement. Once Fritts gets back to 100 percent the Hounds will have a tough offense to defend. If the defense continues to play solid and make a few plays the Hounds could make a deep run this season. I honestly do not see many tough tests for this team til they get to LCA the last game of the year. GRC away could be a tough game as well. Their district appears to be weaker than usual with Middlesboro down this season. North and South Laurel are two games the Hounds should win as well. Knott and Leslie will be games to throw the ball around a bit to Hoover and Manns. Other than injuries, I look for this team to have a chance to win all their games until LCA.

  3. Should be a good game. North only scoring 7 points against South makes me think the Hounds will win. North put up lots of points in their first two games against Pulaski and Knox Central. Wardroup is a very good player, but tends to lose his cool from time to time. I would expect the Hounds to key on him. On the other end, North will no doubt be keying on Watkins. The team that has the best passing attack and special teams play will come out with the win in this one. Corbin 28 North 14.

  4. YES IT DOES! If Wburg can get Lowrie back....Big IF.... They could win it...

I hope the Jackets do win it this season it would be a tribute their staff. Will Lowrie help the run defense? Seems as though stopping the run has plaqued the Jackets in the two losses. I am sure everyone else on the schedule will pound them up the middle til they prove they can stop it. Knox has several big backs that run hard. I thought the Jackets would be stronger on D than they are and thus predicted them to beat KC. I now change my opinion and hope WBurg gets through that game with no injuries.

  5. Final.

Jackets could be on a downhill slide this season. I heard the " Single A and Little School" mentioned on the radio many times the last couple of weeks from the announcers and Coaches.....Knox Central next week will be another physical test for the Jackets. It maybe a 5 win season at best.

  6. As good as Corbin is, unless Danville hobbles into Campbell Field with half their starters out, I don't think we'll see Corbin win by 4 tds. I hope you are right and respect your opinion. I just think it'll be a little closer than that.

Coach Harp appears to think the Hounds can challenge for the 2A title. I respect his opinion on that subject. With the addition of Fritts and the improvement of another week of practice I think the Hounds should win. Playing at home, etc also come into play. Will the injured JV players, who get varsity minutes, Hoover, Mason, etc be available for the game? I know a few of them were banged up after a big JV win over Knox Central earlier in the week. Will Middle linebacker Matt Jewell be available this week? I know he was listed as a probable starter in the pre season football previews. When does Justin Spencer become eligible for the Hounds? He may take one of the offensive line positions when he gets to play. Overall, should be a good time for fans of both schools.

  7. Corbin's run D better get it pulled together fast if this holds true. We allowed way to many big runs at Harlan, and we all no Harlan is no Danville.

Line play on both sides of the ball will need to get better for the Hounds to win this game. Seems they want their backers to make most of the plays and with the speed of Danville that might be a challenge. Look for Danville to load up with 8 or 9 in the box and dare the Hounds to put it in the air. Playing at home will no doubt help the Hounds this week. Fritts will be a gametime decision, but I look for him to play this week.

Corbin 18 Danville 16 in a thriller with at least one big play called back via the penalty.

  8. Can he beat out Eric Wright? St. John, Watkins and Gilbert would appear to be pretty locked in. Who will sit Huff or Wright? Sounds like this kid is athletic but can he provide the floor leadership that Little "E" can?

Leadership is a good way to say it. If this kid exists and is at South, you can bet he will play if he is good enough. I heard the only new player was a 5'7 kid. Not sure where he moved in from. Perhaps Hazel Green or Bush according to my sources.

  9. I'm actually pretty excited about what I'm seeing from the young kids. Sure, they're making rookie mistakes, but they're showing tremendous promise also. The QB, Barger, improved a bunch since the first game and is becoming a real weapon as are the Canady boys. You can see how Coach Russell is tweaking the offense to get them more touches. I'll bet Mountain Thunder backs me up on this: this has the potential to be a fine KC team.

As for North, well, it's unreal what Coach Larkey has done with this bunch in only his first year. They've transformed into a real smash-mouth mountain football team that looks a whole bunch like some of the better Rockcastle teams. I'm going to predict that in a few years Chris will be mentioned with the same respect his dad gets now. :thumb:

That is good that KC fans are not jumping ship after starting 0 and 2. Not sure who they have the rest of the way but beating Rock and Bell might be big tasks for this young bunch. With the injuries, they should be able to defeat Wburg. So a win is on the horizen.

  10. I heard acouple of names an numbers for Corbin that i did not recognize, one was #10 and was playing defense with the regulars and the other name and # I can't recall. Anyone know?

Maybe one of the transfers that has moved in late in this summer. I would say that #10 is the boy from Georgia. The Kid from Oklahoma is a lineman and is injured I think.

  11. Congrats to all at NL. Jags are looking for real.

I don't see SL doing much with them next week, either.

I did not see KC being 0-2 at this point when the season was starting.

Many were touting this KC bunch as the best in school history. Granted KC does not have a rich history in football. They seem to have alot of talent on the roster but have yet to get things lined out.

  12. I thought Mitchell's TD pass to Hoover was as good as you could ask for. Vinny certainly changed my mind about being scared! Mark it down he will be a play maker before this season's over.

    GO HOUNDS!

Indeed, if you got it you got it....forget the dedication and off season stuff.......all that matters is being there on Friday nights....yeah right......one game does not make a season my friend. Harlan is no Fort Campbell, New Cath, Desales, Prestonsburg or Middlesboro. Hounds got the W tonight, not much else was accomplished in the big scheme of things.
