  1. I thought you would know since you made that statement?

Well, I thought you would have all the stats, but I guess someone else made the drive up tonight to watch Corbin. Seems like GRC has made the longer drives with more plays per possession. Not taking the field goal at the end of the first before the penalty may come back to haunt the Hounds. Fumbling after holding Clark to FOUR plays can also lead to defeat.

  2. What depth does Corbin have? South is loaded with depth especially at guard. I think Corbin lack of depth hurts them this year. They lost a ton of talent and depth in Crawford Crawford and Smith. Corbin, may be the 3rd or 4th best team in the region. South, Knox Central, Corbin and Clay. Clay would be a close second to South if not for Hooker getting hurt.

I would expect Corbin to have a little depth this season as well. Johnson, Manns, Wilson, Stewart, T. Smith, Hopkins, Taylor, Jones, Freeman and Sizemore may all be in the rotation for Coach P before all is said and done. I agree South should be the favorite with St. John, but Corbin, Clay, Bell, North, Harlan Co., Knox and Whitley will all have a big say in who goes to Rupp this season.

Yes, HDE I did not mention Lynn Camp......although I think the Cats will be as good as most of the teams mentioned above...lol

  3. South Laurel will be very good this season. St. John gives them a weapon no one else in the region has, a dominate post. I would expect Gilbert, Watkins, St. John, Huff and Wright to get the majority of the minutes with Sanders playing as well. When all is said and done the winner of the 50th district will have the inside road to winning the region again this season.

  4. I just got back from it .... game will start in less than 25 minutes. Teams r warming up ... just call one of your buddies Bubba.

Will do. I think I will stay on the couch with Sweetness tonight and listen to Dave and Dave on the radio. Heading up to watch UK tomorrow. Man my age has to pick and choose his football action per weekend. Les, you going to the Bengals and the Steelers on Sunday. Figured Chad Johnson would hook you up with some great seats.

  5. How healthy are Corbin's DB's? Sowders and Crawford both missed some of the game against South Laurel, if either are out or at least not close to 100%, Hazard will take advantage of it.

Crawford will play, Sowders will not IMO. I would expect some new faces on the defensive side of the ball for the Hounds. Hoover, Mahan, Reed and perhaps Taylor and Fritts could see some slight changes in position this week. I would expect some changes on kickoff and punt coverage teams also.

  6. Wburg gets drilled, Whitley gets drilled, LC, North, and South are all having low seasons.....Hounds maybe the only local team that can salvage the football season in the Tri County this year. Not sure the Hounds are as good as many think. Les, who are all the guys who pick the games in the Friday paper? None of them appear to be from Corbin are they all Laurel County folks? I know Cardwell, and Winterhouse but where are the others from?

  7. Even if you stand by the fence, which is as close as you can get, you cannot hear anything said on the field.

Well, many of us fans, Hear things, see things, feel like we are on the short side of the stick, etc, etc......when things do not go our way. North has improved, but with 16 seniors on the roster this maybe their best season for the next few. Corbin needs to move on and focus on the remainder of the season. Somehow the Hounds seem to bring out the worst in their opponents. I can say without a doubt, I am proud to be a Hound supporter.

  8. That's a ridiculous statement.

If the fans heard such things then surely the refs did? I can not believe a team Coached by Steve Jewell would utter anything like that. Proof is the tape, what is documented there can not be disputed. I know Corbin coaches would have removed anyone saying things that are not part of the game. Discipline is not an issue with Corbin Football.

  9. Shoot-out in Williamsburg. Right down to the wire.

Knox Central ran back and interception to go up 48-38. Williamsburg returned the kickoff to make it 48-46.

    Wow.

    Finally over.

Wburg can still not stop the run. Defense would have made a difference. Being able to run out the clock would have been big as well once they were up by 10 in the fourth. Jackets played hard, were outsized, and out numbered but almost won. Sound familar? Off to Hazard to next. It does not get any easier for the Jackets.

  10. What respect I had for NL I lost tonight, they are one dirty team and that goes back to coaching. Cheap shots, trying to hurt players has no place in the "GAME" of football. The refs let it get out of hand, but if I were coaching a few of those players would be on the bench. And putting your starters back in against our freshmen, what a joke. North is not on the same level as Corbin football and it showed big time tonight. This is what I feel like doing after observing some of the behavior from NL tonight-:puke:

Well, you may have hit the nail right on the head.

I have witnessed all sorts of behavior throughout the years watching sports. I am glad no one was hurt tonight.

  11. North is always physical and their fans are some of the most antimated in the area. South may be in trouble this week. Fritts had some nice runs and seems to be gaining each week. Manns can be a weapon if he is used in the passing game. I though Matt Taylor was the best player on the field tonight. He made game changing plays. Foley is another weapon for the Hounds. He got zero carries tonight but teams should not forget about him. If Mitchell Fredrick could get a look at WR, I think he could be a playmaker as well. I feel he brings some things to the table that others can not. Overall a good win over a North team that was motivated and headhunting tonight.

  12. Was not able to attend but got text updates. From how it sounded, North came to play but Corbin was just too much for the up and coming Jags. Corbin blew things open in the 3rd before subbing down in the 4th. North scored with 17 seconds left. Great job Hounds and keep your heads up North.

North scores on the Jv team and then goes for two. Sounds like the Jags good run comes to an end. Hounds head to South Laurel next week. Coach Jewell shows class by allowing the young kids to get some PT.
