  1. What has been a becoming "fad" in recent months is that anytime the 16th region is noted in a thread "alone" talking about 16th teams and players....there is always 1-3 people who jump in take a shot at them and compare them to another part of the state that is obviously "BETTER" than them.

I really could care less how matchup's of players from this region stack up vs. another, and I believe the intent of this thread was to "highlight" those players inside this region and in no-way, shape, or form meant to polarize and place these kids or teams on a stage that is much more significant than other places.

It's nearly to the point of hilarious, comical, and eye-rolling:rolleyes: to the amount of displeasure people have towards basketball players from NEKY.

    A few notes....

*Haney playing the 5 spot would perhaps be for defensive purposes only I presume? Offensively he may be the most gifted player throughout the floor that the Cougars have had in a while and there have been many great offensive players. I'll not stretch to the degree of "BEST" but many, many people from the area will note throughout the year of the versatility of Haney

*For Rowan County, 6'7" Blake Pettit is the biggest ? and perhaps the key to huge success for the Vikings. The ability to defend, rebound, and score will be necessary and vital to the composition of the Vikings and ultimately "relief" Daniel and Martin will need throughout the year.

*I concur with Cubster, Wolfenbarker of Greenup County is the region's most underrated player and exception athlete and PG. The musketeers have had a great history of PG's from Boo Williams in the early 80's to Chris Plummer, etc. Wolfenbarker will place his stamp as another solid Muskie PG capable of putting the team on his back and carrying them.

*For the 2nd year in a row, I'll go with Bath County as the team that "should" do better than their record and performance of recent past. Blandon Clemons, Cortez Williams, and Zach Metz are capable enough and talented enough to win games for the Wildcats.

Cortez was the lone senior for the squad.

Will be interesting to see how the New Head Coach (Here we go again) Brian Johnson gets this team to play.

    Clemons is a Junior

    Zak Metz a Soph

If the Cats can find somone to fill the five spot and move Razor out of the middle to the 4 with Metz at the 3 Clemons at 2 and most likely Aaron Roberts Soph at point they should suprise.

  2. More complete stats from the Bath County Lewis County game last Friday night.

The offense was lead by running back Wayne Stevens as he had 156 yards on 20 carries with two touchdowns, 3 receptions for 72 yards and 13 punt return yards for 241 total offensive yards. Zak Metz was 5 of 8 passing for 83 yards and carried the ball 7 times for 19 yards with 1 score.

Josh Denkins was the top tackler of the night with 11. Cody Armitage picked up 9 tackles and Eddie Lucas had 8. Shandy Karrick recovered a fumble and picked up 6 tackles while Blandon Clemons intercepted a pass. Ethan Fryman had 3 tackles and one sack for a 14 yard loss.

  3. 1966 Hopkinsville defeated Bath County 88-0 the worst loss in school history. This was also the first season of football. The Wildcats went 2-8 that season defeating a Irvine team and Fleming County

Then the record was close to being meet in 2003 LCA-Lexington Christian Academy defeated Bath 69-0 in Owingsville. Would have been worse had the clock not been allowed to run during this game.

The late 60's 1969 to be exact the Cats had a running back by the name of Frank Jones that set the season Rushing record that still stands today.

  4. How is the Stevens kid from Rowan playing?

Did Bath get there new Stadium completed?

Wayne Stevens is a great addition to the Bath County Backfield and the secondary on defense. He was slowed during the preseason by a hamstring injury. Has hit the ground running ever since the first tote of the rock.

The Football Stadium is complete the grass still needs to come in some more. The scoreboard isn't up as of yet they used a postage stamp for the Lewis County game.

The crowd was large and tailgaiting returned to the hill last Friday Night in Owingsville.

The biggest suprise isn't Stevens running it has been Blandon Clemons coming over from the basketball team. Worked had in conditioning and has put on some muscle. Has hands and footwork to go along with his speed. What a duo of Stevens and Clemons power and speed at its best.

Morgan County comes to Owingsville to take on the 2-0 cats. This might be the first time the Wildcats have opened up the season 2-0 since the Ramey era still working on researching that one.
