Unless Raceland gets overconfident I think they will win. But the score will be closer than the Fairview/East game. East Carter just seems to play better against the Rams.
I think they expect the Rams to play Rams football. No one ever seems to expect Fairview to keep putting out winning teams. I'll agree, it may be closer, but I still think the Rams for the most part name the score.

I hope Ashland shocks the world.
I do too. I just wish it was being played somewhere else... anywhere else.
-
I would have tried to give a score, but I don't even try when it's at Ironton.
-
I would love to see Ashland win this, but at Tanks Memorial, I don't think it's gonna happen. If it were in Ashland... maybe, not likely though.
-
Rams name the score in this one.
-
I believe that if this game were played in week 6 or 7, or even after Breathitt County you may see a completely different outcome.
-
I expected Letcher Central to win, but not by a 61 point margin.
-
Who else could lose every stat and still win the game.

BC out rushed and out passed Russell, How did Russell pull this one out?
Ivan McGlone my friend, need I say more.

O.K. I'll say it, I picked Pikeville in this one. I appollogize to the Tomcats and their fans for way underestimating them. I'm not so surprised by the win, it's just the score, wow. I thought Pikeville would need to go to Northern Kentucky to let that happen.

Congratulations to the Red Devils on a very good win. This was a lot closer game than the score indicates. Boyd is a very good football team with an outstanding QB. A.J. Cordell was exceptional also for Russell throwing two TD passes in key situations. Great game A.J. Congratulations to both teams on playing a very hard fought game.
I couldn' agree more. Those dropped passes killed us. Just so to drive home how close this was everywhere but the score here are the stats from the Daily Independent.
1st dows BC-19 RHS-14
Rushes/yards BC-38-283 RHS-31-268
Passing yards BC-131 RHS-130
Fumbles/Lost BC-0-0 RHS-2-1
Punts/Yards BC-1-33 RHS-1-30
Penalties/Yards BC-2-10 RHs-2-10
Just for the record, Z. Wilson had 219 yards of Boyd County's 283.

I think the Lawrence County faithfull will agree that this is almost as good as a win at this point. Belfry is no joke. To do this well against Belfry in any senario causes me alittle concern as a Boyd County fan, also gets me pretty excited in anticipation for our match up. Congrats to Belfry on the win, and to Lawrence County for earning some respect in spite of the loss. I'll have to keep a closer eye on their development.

Yes, they lost. But if Russell were to play Highlands, and say lost 21-14 in the season opener. Did they lose? Or di they have a good game against a quality team. Raceland may not be Highlands, but they are a quality program that plays solid football week in and week out. As for these rankings, there is no way to get a good top 7 untill at least week 3 or four. For now they just give us their oppinion, and thats really all it is untill the playoffs start.
-
This looks to be a good match up. But, Johnson Central is not just around the corner from Ontario City, Canada. I look for a solid team like Johnson Central to pull in a good win. But I wouldn't go looking for a blow out. I would expect an athletic, well coached, and fundamentally sound team to come to town.

I don't know how it is now, but when I was at Boyd County the coaches put as much, if not more emphasis on the Russell game as Ashland. Maybe that has something to do with them seeming to step up play against Russell.
-
They did take a very tough Rams team into OT.
-
I am not so sure about that, usually when a team does not do as well as some expect that the post on that team get fewer. That imo is true for everywhere. As for Ashland, imo there are plenty of Tomcat fans out there that are and will be supporting their team regardless. Usually after a team loses.....the more post by the ones that want to start the blame game and voice their disspointment. That is not a slam or any one person or fan base and is jmo a how things usually go.
My Lions faithfull don't change win, lose, or draw. I seldom see more than 2 or 3 of us posting, just a buch of congrats or better luck next time. I would like to see us get the kind of following that Greenup County or Raceland has. We have good turn outs at the games, but if you don't go, good luck finding out how they looked.

I hope all the voluteers are willing to be objective and honest. If they are going to be petty and short sighted then this would never work, you might as well stick with the Super 7. I for one would like for us to have something a little more accurate, by those who are interested in the high school sports and would look all the available information at hand.

Prestonsburg vs. Breathitt County is no doubt the game of the week, but I think Boyd County at Russell would be up on the list. If this is a blow out, then I won't be able to put my Lions on this list again until next year.

Is Spring Valley not in West Virgina?
Yes they are. The Timberwloves are what was CK, Buffalo, and Vinson High Schools. They have alot of talent, but just have not been able to get the program where it should be. I've been hearing from my coworkers from Kenova,WV that with the new coach the air of optimism is beginning to show.
-
This is where the gut check comes into play. I want to believe that the kids will respond to what happened against Russell. I think the defense will stiffen and the offense gets untracked..........GC 35 LCC 20. If I'm wrong, this will be a long, long season for my Musketeers.
I look for the home team to have a clear edge here, winning by 12. I also look for Greenup County to improve by the end of this season and being competive going into the playoffs.
-
Through the years I've learned that if you square off against Russell in anything, you better be ready because they seem to be good at everything they do. Mayby not the best, but not from a lack of effort.
-
I haven't heard it from coach Evans, but it looks like he wants to go to a pass oriented offense with a good run game to keep the defense honest. Alot of programs are trying this and getting a beating from the fans. This seems to be a better way to go to this scheme. As I said I haven't heard anything on this, but the varsity is throwing more than under previous coaches.

I'll volunteer for Boyd County if you still need one.

I think this will be a full blown shootout, the victor may be whoever scores last.
