  1. The Bulldogs' defense is doing very well, but I don't think they'll hold Cross to just 2 TD's. I also don't see the Vikings' defense stopping LC's starting offense at all. Lawrence County just has too many good weapons with a strong offensive line complimented very well with a solid and aggressive defense. This year's Bulldogs football team is what I love about high school football, I just wish it was my Lions that I was enjoying so much.

  2. I have no dubt that Cross is the best athlete in the district, but it will take more than that to beat Lawrence County this year, and I don't think Rowan has enough back up for Cross to pull this game in. Rowan County will score more on the Bulldogs than anyone else has so far, but Lawrence County will likely return the favor on their way to victory and the disteict title.

  3. Lawrence County attacks with more weapons than anyone I've seen. They are big, fast, and physical. The only team Greenup has faced that is as good as Lawrence County is Ashland. I hope Greenup County keeps it respectable, but the Bulldogs are still very under rated. The only way anyone has been able to move the ball consistantly is through the air, but still not enough to challenge them. Good luck to both teams.

  4. Congrats to the Bulldogs. I doubt there will be any ties in the district this year. Lawrence County is way ahead of the rest with Rowan County being next. The only question I see is, who finishes last... Boyd County or East Carter? I think Lawrence County goes undefeated in the season and may even get as far as Boyle County before suffering a loss. I've all but forgotten thier record from the last 3 seasons, as they seem to have left it in the past themselves, as well they should have.

  5. Boyd County will not make the defensive adjustments to take care of Cross. The offense should get on the board thiss week, but not near enough to win. The Vikings should have little trouble in this match up. I think they will finish right behind Lawrence County in district play while my Lions look to be bringing up the rear this year, can't win district every year.

  6. I'm going with the Lions here, I'll give them alot more respect after the Belfry game. I can't ignorea team that is down 14 points with 30 ticks left on the clock, and is still playing like they think they're going to win. I have'nt seen that out of Boyd County in a long time. Last year you pretty well knew if they were going to win before half time, either they came to play, or did'nt play at all. This year they seem to be ready to play right to the end.

  7. This is high school football, where anything can, and often does happen. I'm still not even looking for my recipe for crow soup yet. I still believe that Ashland goes unimpeaded till that face Ironton. Just my opinion. Nobody needs to agree it, or even like it. Until Ashland proves me wrong, I'll keep giving them what I believe to be earned respect.

  8. I got to give Johnson Central credit for playing these unknown teams from so far away. My Lions tried that a couple of times, and we had a less than stellar showing both times. And as for not playing again next year, I don't know what kind of contract they had with Horn Lake, but when we had these long distance games, it was a 1 year deal, I don't have a clue about this situation though, just don't be too quick to judge.

  9. I will be pulling for the Devils here, but I think this will be more than they can handle this year. Ironton seems to be back on track and firing on all cylinders. Russell has done good so far, but they have yet to face anyone at Ironton's level. I really hope they prove me wrong, I'm tired of watching KY teams fall to these guys.

  10. This is the smallest Belfry team I believe I've seen, and they don't have ovewhelming speed. There were 2 things that kept Belfry ahead of Boyd County Coach Haywood flat out-coached us and we let Varney do whatevere he wanted, Coah Hart is in my own personal opinion the best coach in this area, and Ashland will make the adjustments to take Varney more or less out of the equasion, you can't really stop him all together, he's too good for that.

  11. I'll say it for Belfry just as I did for Raceland, if you play Ashland like you did Boyd County , you'll lose. I'll also say the same for why Ashland wins, "SPEED, SPEED, SPEED". That was why I said they would get the win over Raceland. If the Tomcats had more size on the line they would probably go 10-0. They have a tough schedule and will meet teams that will use the size advantage to offset the speed, but Belfry has no such size, nor can they match the speed. I am not an Ashland fan , but even I as a Boyd County fan have to recognize what this Tomcat team is capable of.

  12. I think this game is a mismatch, Ashland will just be to much for Varney to beat alone. If Befry wants to keep this a game they'll need to find a couple more weapons. The pirate defense shouldn't be a factor for Ashland, I don't think their's is any better than Raceland's and the Tomcat's hung 31 on them. Belfry may prove me wrong, but Leon Hart WILL make the halftime adjustments that Boyd County's coaches didn't make.
