Good JOB Brandon. First class student and athlete. He will make someone in the Ivy League very happy.

I wish the rumors were correct about Gaterville, but all that we know at this point is that they called CCH Coach R. and asked for game films a week before the first CCH-HHS game. I have received a number of calls from friends at HHS advising me that we are going to get an offer from Gaterville, but to date nothing has come our way. Again thanks for everyone's help, I never realized what a struggle this was.

No real offers yet.

My pipe dream, Josh, Shane & Kater all go to the same school. They have been together for 4 years and what an asset to any special teams unit. Holder, punter, kicker, & long snapper, that's a deal.

Thanks to everyone and their good words. To date Shane has received no solid offers. Only Holy Cross of Boston has been true since the Boone County game, they want us to do a visit sometime in December. again thanks

I agree there is more to this story or the coach is a total nut case.

There is not a better feeling in N. Ky high school sports than beating Highlands at Highlands. Been there and done that a long long time ago. This group of Cov Cath Seniors have what it takes to get the job done and the spirit to go with it.

CCH kicker is Shane Popham - Senior - received letters from Holy Cross University (Boston), Harvard, Penn, Yale, Cincinnati and about 6 small colleges in the Ohio/Kentucky area. Holy Cross has shown the most interest by far.
-
Point taken.

Cov Cath has the best special teams in the state. Josh Blesser punts and Shane Popham kicks with NFL stats. Josh is averaging in the upper 40's on punts and Shane is 9 of 10 on field goals with a 57 & 54 yard field goals and 23 kick-offs in the end zone. Hard to beat that pair.

A dead period of some type needs to stay in place or the players will never get a break to heal the little minor issues that never get a chance to heal physical and mental.

Shane Popham - Covington Catholic - Senior Kicker 57 yard field goal against Bishop Waterson. 2nd longest in State History.
-
Yes and it cleared by 8-10 yards

Good Discussion so far: Couple of things. Popham from Cov Cath uses a one inch tee. He started playing football in the 8th grade, soccer before that, no soccer since. Kicks should be able to be returned as long as they do not go out of the end zone, out of the end zone than it is a touchback. Good football programs work hard on their special teams play no matter how good the kickers. Regarding soccer players involed in football, good idea as long as school goes along. Do we ban baseball pitchers from being quarterbacks and track stars from being running backs or wide receivers. no I don't think so. You put your best athletes on the field and let the kids be kids. Today if a kid can play more than one sport good for him/her.

QB Joe Bricking for Dixie played a very solid. I think that Dixie came to play and that is why the game was closer than the score. Hats off to both teams. Good game

The Highlands game on October 27th. That will control the ride to Papa John
