My top 3 are Ryle, Cov Cath, and Holy Cross. Ryle and Holy Cross are loaded with seniors, who are good ball players and Cov Cath returns everyone in the field but 2 from last year. Blesser's arm appears to be healthy, should be a very interesting season.

We have heard nothing from the new guys at UC. I have sent them material but have heard nothing. They have been busy with their bowl game yesterday, we'll see what this week brings.

She hits hard, I have 28 years of bruises to prove it.

Just an update: Ga. Tech and UCLA have asked for transcripts and game film.

The ring is your peice of the state trophy you get to keep FOREVER. The ring is important to everyone on the team from the starters to the backups who made the starters better every day in practice and did not get the glory but are just as important.

Believe he is a junior and his long is 40 yards

We thank everyone for their support and any help you can give.

Recruitment Update: No offers to date. Talked to Harvard on Saturday, Notre Dame on Sunday( just chit chat), Wake Forest today(they were not going to recruit a kicker this year, but saw his web site and may reconsider, and Holy Cross tonight. That is all that I know, Shane has called Fla. several times in the past 2 weeks but they have not called back.

As a New Cath grad, that is a hugh step. Thanks

I believe that Ryle is extremely good, but not the best. They scrimaged Cov Cath in pre-season and did not move the ball well. This may have been due to the number of injuries they had in that scrimage. I also believe that Highlands has a more solid team than the Raiders. Highlands could easily be where CCH is now if they would have won the re-match. In my opinion Ryle is the 3rd best team.

Do you know if this is the same selection that was in the Post on Thursday and they left out Special Teams and the O-Line or is this a different selection? I am Shane Popham's dad and I have been told several different stories, I am try to find out which is the correct version. Thanks

Shane is 5'11" and 179. ACT 29 & SAT 1280. 3.86 GPA. Boston College has already committed to a kicker. How big is Shane? -
To the best of my knowledge he was offered a scholarship. UK advised they were not interested in Pops.
-
Trinty's kicker has commited to UK.
-
Shane: Kicks off a one inch tee.

Time to make the highlight tapes in mass and get them out. Is CovCath doing anything to promote him?
Cov Cath is doing a good job of helping. They have sent out a number of tapes with very positive feedback, but again no one has steppped up to the plate. It is a little disheartening, but the good news is that several 1AA schools want him to play immediatley. We will continue to send out new tape and have set up a web site at http://www.shanepopham.com a friend set it up and did a good job.

Glad to hear the young man from Johnson Central is OK. We were worried when we saw him go down. The fans from Johnson Central are first class and I am glad we made the trip. Their announcer at the game did a great job for both schools, food was great, people were friendly, and a great atmosphere for a high school football game.

He has not received any offers as of yet. Only schools that are showing real interest are Holy Cross, Harvard, Centre, Dayton, & Union.. Fla has asked for game film weeks ago, but have heard nothing. Thanks for asking.

Henry521 Thank you for your comments. I could not have said it any better.
I know from a very reliable source that Cov Cath Coach R. was at the Coach's meeting and that the kids from Cov Cath were represented by him.
Not everyone that gets nominated gets elected to a spot. The 24 selected represent all of N. Ky and not one school. I am proud and happy for those nominated and even more proud of all of the N. Ky athletes who play for the love of the game and not the trophy. Being able to play is the most important part for every kids that put on a uniform, no matter whose uniform it is. Play hard and play proud.
-
Hats off to the offensive line. They get better each week and Josh continues to get better with each snap.
-
Sorry, it was the 42 yarder.
-
I agree, I think that was his best kick. 25 mph wind in his face and rain.
-
Pop's field goals for the year are: 57, 54, 54, 53, 47, 42, 35, 35, 34, 34, 31, 31, 30, 27, & 20.

He is still waiting for his first real offer. Have heard from Holy Cross in Boston, Harvard, Centre, & Campbellsville. Florida has asked for game film, and Akron has talked to Coach R. Hopefully something will come soon. Thanks

Cov Cath should get into the jr. high school football league. This will be a big expense, but it will get the kids in to their program sooner and spend less time on the freshman level of teaching the system. This is a great feeder program that has worked for years for New Cath and especially Highlands. Highlands has perfected the junior football program. I believe that is why year after year they have great freshman football teams. Their kids know the system and have played together. Boone County has also done a good job with their youth league. I believe this is the key to the future.
