  1. mh2356, Central has never won at BE. BE has won the home games; 35-14, 27-6, and 27-15. BE leads the overall series 5-3. This game will be a slugfest, it always is when these 2 teams get together. Also, don't look for this game to go away with the realignment next year. If the schedules can be worked out, both sides are interested in keeping the series going. No sense in putting an end to a good thing. If you can make it to Mt. Washington Friday, get ready to see one of the most physical high school games you've witnessed. This game is always intense, it will be a playoff atmosphere.

    I'm always at the games.

Should be a good game .... this was the only one I circled as a possible L before the season. Hopefully our pass coverage is solid enough ... passing teams always scare me when they play BE ... I'm just not sold on our pass coverage and the soft zones we tend to play.

From what I've seen Central either throws the ball deep or very short and hope the recievers make plays. The definitely like to throw fly's after turnovers so we'll have to watch for that.

  2. Not to slight North Bullitt (we'll maybe to slight them LOL) this should be for 1st place in the district.

Should be a great game. Although I'll be pulling for East obviously it should be a very close game. Hard to make a prediction but I'll go with 20-14 BE.

Is it true that Central has never won at BE?

Might be the last year we play for a while also.

  3. Bell County is looking toward two or three years of their best football to come along in a while. With the new alignment, Rockcastle will still be in district and region... however, traditional play-off rivalries i.e., Ashland, Johnson Central, Highlands, Covington Catholic will move up. Rockcastle, Bell, and Boyle County seem to be left to :fight: for the title!

Regions 5-8 in 4A look pretty decent, but 1-4 looks like it's Bullitt East's to lose.

To get to the title game BE doesn't have to play Boyle, Bell, Rockcastle or Lex. Cath. and Bowling Green moved up. North Bullitt will be some competition for the next couple of years though.

  4. Once again the refs didn't cost BE the game but when two rushing teams play and the away team gets 7 holding calls and the home team gets one ... it's going to be questioned. 14 penalties to 3.

Also the fumble play the Nelson Co. fan was talking about was an incomplete pass in every way. The wr it was thrown to stripped the ball as soon as the defensive player caught it, there was no two steps. Also the same WR on BE went up caught the ball came down with it on his back and a ref from across the field came in and said incomplete. So there were questionable calls the whole game.

The thing that cost BE the game was the play of the O-line, plain and simple. Nelson County deserved the win.

  5. Bullitt East rolls in this one. I don't buy this stuff about their inexperience. Sure they are younger than in the past couple of years, but they have done an excellent job with the JV and Freshmen programs. The kids now in varsity positions have played and won an awful lot of football games. They are now in a "reload" mode rather than a "rebuild".

    Bullitt East 35 - Nelson 13

Very good point ... they have some very talented juniors on this time. A few on the O-Line, D-line. The WR and RB I mentioned previously also. They are also a very fast team this year.

Their first 3 games are against teams that went 4-26 last year. They should be ready come time for Central in the 4th week. They need to be, that will be a tough game. Drug testing is being implemented here in Bullitt County this year ... interesting to see if it has any effect at East or North.

  6. Bullitt East looked good for 3 quarters. QB looked pretty good, Running Back looked strong - knew he'd be fast this year but it looked like he bulked up well to be able to run up the middle. They seemed to alternate WR's. One looked real good caught everything thrown at him except a pass late in the game - over the middle pass and he got drilled. The other WR looked alright, a little short, the one he didn't catch was over his head and if he had a few more inches he could have caught it. He had a nice catch late for about 40 yards that was called back because of a penalty. They need to stick with one, every other drive never works. They seemed to alternate the same two kids at CB also. Put the kid who catches everything at WR and the short kid at CB and be done with it.

Offense line struggled, QB was running for his life alot. Defense line looked good. Pass defense was poor, IMO there biggest problem on defense last year also. Soft zones never work.

BE looks like they have a great kicker also. I wasn't that impressed with their scrimmage last year and the went 13-1. This year they looked really good for 3 quarters then seemed to forget everything that worked in the 4th. The roughing the passer call was really weak.
