  1. Thats O.K. LCA heard about your ("9"?) starters out last time and aggreed to play left handed in the last game. I guess they had some pretty good leftys. Denton and Carver matter. Nobody else.

Yes Denton and Carver are a huge part of the rams offense and defense but the rams were also missing Tolliver and two offensive linemen. Denton and Carver are great backs but they arnt nothing with out a great offensive line!

  2. I feel that the rams have a good system. I also think that your offense can not be ran exactly the same year to year that it needs to change to the strengths of your team. As for Boyles he is an awesome athlete and i feel that he will step in to the QB spot with out even making the rams skip a beat. The defense will also be very strong this year with a strong D-line and linebacker group. The Rams also have a strong O-line which have had a very successful off-season in the weight room.

  3. An in-county rival is quite a bit different than Doss on a neutral court. I don't have anything against Rose Hill, that's just my prediction.

What was your prediction on the Raceland/Rose Hill game?? Did you even have one?

It will be interesting to see if a healthier/different Chad Jackson shows up for this game!! Also, IMO Ashland does not have anyone that can do the job that Matt Phillips of Raceland did on Euton.

  4. Hence my reasoning for wanting to hear both sides. For me personally, his sideline antics would be enough for termination. As a teacher part of his job is to be a role-model and mentor to his team and arguing with fans and throwing tantrums on the sidleines doing a game does not do that, IMHO. There is a difference between "animated" and "dangerous" and Hicks has crossed that line more than once.

He did act like that but his behavior, for the most part, was consistent throughout the last 4(?) years!! It was not a problem then nor at the beginning of this year when his contract was up!! Why the problems now??? Looks like the old misdirection is in effect, "go to war play" to detract from other issues. What is quite unbelievable is the fact that most of the recruiting violation allegations involved prior knowledge that could have easily been divulged much earlier. :sssh: This is a "witch hunt" and much to personal on all fronts and sides- objectivity has been thrown out the door and it will be interesting to see who else gets thrown under the bus!!! Lose/Lose for the entire Greenup system. Time, money, reputations will all be victims of this entire mess.

Unfortunately there seems to be alot of "conduct unbecoming" even though its "all about the kids!!!"

I think the "If you live in a glass house" adage might be appropriate here. (Myself included):thumb:

  5. And just to be upfront and honest and sat scobby's "tale" straight, I was the one who got upset. I was 8 or 9 row's up. I jumped up hollering moved down to row six where 2 or3 of my friends grabbed me by the arm and stopped me. The only person who went to the floor was my little (younger)brother who with his back to the floor not saying anything to the ref's was waiting to waylay me if I had came on down so I wouldn't get thrown out. The cop(or whatever he was) came over toward our area with a raceland authority figure of some sort and a fan of elliotts whom had said nothing at this point jumped up and holleredyou need to take care of your own before you come over here and jump on some one and points to a raceland fan who is on the very edge of the court screaming his head off!! Without a word to me or my brother (who was only one ever close to the floor) the cop and other dude looked over at raceland fan and turned and went back over thereand said something to him. Almost like the pot calling the kettle black. That is my story (its true) and I'm sticking to it. Just in case you need proof on the raceland fan, he had dark curly hair, white button up with collar turned up!!! OH! I almost forgot ther e was a raceland fan threw his hat to the floor. It never made it onto the court but it did hit the floor. there again pot calling kettle black. GIVE US(BOTH SIDES) A BREAK. WERE JUST BEING FAN'S!!!!!!!!!

Fans will be fans but you did get a little out of hand!!! ;) I still believe Ferguson was not fouled on that particular play(I thought he got undercut by his own) but I guess its in the eye of the beholder. Officials did let they play thats for sure.

Just like to say congrats to the Elliot Co. team:thumb:(Faulkners are two class kids and incredible fans of the game) If they continue to do up like that and keep up the team ball I believe they should be considered the 16th Region favorites. I so both big losses of Raceland to Russell and Elliot- that latter was much more convincing.

  6. You may well be correct...I just have different view of what would have been more effective. And let me say that to articulate that view is not to disparage a coach or a coaching staff. I am fully aware of who misses shots, fails to play defense and so forth.

As for rebounding...you'll get no argument from me. What I regret is the lack of real straighforwardness here...and I realize it gets more difficult when one's identity becomes known. I have tried to be direct and speak to particulars without being overly critical and personally demeaning. I think one should give credit to where credit is due and not simply lump players together in their criticisms...lack of effort, rebounding, etc.

Seals was held to 8 points...not a bad defensive effort there. Dare we say who guarded her?!! Emily had 13 rebounds and I thought she worked hard...from the first whistle. Did she make mistakes? You bet...and they've been recorded and discussed. Vanderhoof...a really solid young player...had a tremendous game. Laura, having taken only two shots the first half, never really got involved in the offense and it affected her play on both ends of the floor. She did not have her best defensive effort against Vanderhoof. Now, we love her in this household...and I assure you I could speak to her in those exact words (and I've done so...having coached her). Brit, in my view, should have been taken out immediately upon picking up her second foul and allowed to settle down emotionally...and that she was not took its toll.

As for primetimers stepping up...let me continue to speak bluntly here. Readers will have already seen that according to some, the Lady Royals suffer from "Queen ball." Now...she hit 8 of 12 shots from the floor, had 13 boards (hard-earned in that game as those present I trust would attest), 6 steals (unless TheWalrus is to be believed and those numbers were padded), and 4 assists, and yet was told she played selfishly. What do you think would have been the reaction had she "taken over" as some have suggested?

I dont' think she or anyone else should go against the direction of their coaches and try to "take over." That may be the case when players are paid to perform, but this is the level at which kids are still learning to respect the authority of a coach and hopefully will be required to do whatever they are told...regardless of however much they or I disagree with it. Obviously, when I make the kind of remarks I have made with respect to those directions, it is at odds with some of the coaching decisions. I'm just talking here...and aren't we all...not trying to trash a coach. My remarks should not be construed as a personal attack or an undue criticism of any coach. I'm just an armchair (and bleacher) coach...the same as the rest of you.

Queen is a great player and it seems that she attempted to do whatever was necessary to allow her team to win last night. Many people comment on the athletic prowess of Whitney Seals but I definitely think that the same could be said of Emily!! Great player, great effort! Maybe a little more "Queen"Ball might have been in order last night!!

Britt seems to play borderline outta of control on offense and defense. Two of the fouls called on her were of the ticky-tack variety but she probably could have had several more on reaches while playing her ball hawking defensive style.

  7. People have protested and fought for what they believe in for many many years. I think that it is great that people stand up for what is right and what they believe in rather than riding the fence and jumping ship. These people are teaching their children how to take a stand for what they believe in. (Some players put on tshirts after the game too.) They are standing up for what they want for their children. The KHSAA is not involved in this investigation. They did not initiate it and most of the allegations they have already ruled on - years ago. The board has been kept in the dark about this whole thing for those who are in power to achieve what they want. The group of people wearing tshirts cheered and clapped for all of those kids - theirs and everyone elses. You want to know why Coach Hicks never sat with the parents before his suspension? He sat on the bench! The parents save seats for him! Nine times out of ten Coach Tharp is beside him. People want Coach Hicks there and they want him back on the bench coaching their kids.

No one here can say that teams are not made before the first game of the season. Do you know how many open gyms and practices that Coach Sutton and Smith have missed? I don't have enough fingers and toes to count them on. Coach Hicks teaching and dedication has made this team and they will continue to be successful because of his hard work. I think that you can bet your business that Coach Hicks will be back on that bench. :madman:

I would think win or lose, that he has coached his last game for GCHS! That is just a hunch on my part- seems too much water under the bridge for both camps- and it will never be a productive situation again as far as the and Coach Hicks.

  8. Like many have already said- tempo and turnovers will be key for the Rams. Obviously, teams are trying to prevent the 'Big Two" from beating them, but actually doing it is the tough thing. I would like to see Chad Jackson knock down 12-15 footers on regular basis but have not seen it to this point (i'm not saying he can't) but no one has kept his dribble penetration to a minimum to date in this area.I guess Euton turned into a post presence in the Bath game but it will be interested to see if that is something that peaks his interest on a continual basis. He still likes to chuck it from the cheap seats and has shown more than enough ability to continue.

  9. I was told Coach Floyd was the one who puts the game plan together and all Coach Johnson does is kick back and relax. If you watch at the games Floyd is always hte one who is taking notes.

 Good one, I can't believe Floyd told you that!!! Looks like Johnson might want to discuss that with him!!! The notes are actually "job applications" for the Head Coaching GCHS job and to be Coach Fraley's asst at BCHS next year!!! :thumb: ;)

Hey, for the record, I'm being completely ficticious :thumb:

  10. I was at Greenup tonight. They played very well. Nice game plan by Coach Sutton. I saw something amazing. Greenup County is up on Boyd by 17 at one time. Nobody in the gym seems excited. It is a shame that the Adults in that gym dont have enough sense (especially the parents of the kids) to cheer for the kids and support them. Hicks has made this about himself and completely taken the attention away from the players. These boys have worked their whole life to get to this point, dont take that away from them. I heard about it but I didnt believe it until I seen it tonight. Wake up Greenup Supporter's NOBODY is bigger than the program. Shame on you. Put your kids and these players first. How do you think it makes them feel when there trying to play as hard as they can, and look up and see you sitting by the ex-coach with a shirt on supporting him. How is he suppose to listen to the coach in huddle or respect that coach. You are not hurting nobody but your own kid. He broke the rules, he has to life with it.The kids shouldnt pay the price. Dont let him take your kids season away. Especially the seniors. Get the focus back where it belongs. ON THE PLAYERS and TEAM. He will be gone, Mabe coaching at another school and these boys will never get this back once its over. What message is it sending to our kids that it is OK to brake the rules and we will look the other way and still suppport you. Does breaking the rules go on at other schools? YES does it make it right NO. What

are we teaching our kids by supporting someone that has clearly done wrong. And the ones supporting him knows excactly what this is all about. These Kids have a chance to do something great. This team is good enough to make some noise at the Region but that's not gona happen without the support of the fans and especially the parents. Dont wait until its too late. Put the focus back where it belongs. ON THE TEAM:irked: :irked: :irked:

Man have you jumped ship on this one!!!???? He did not break the the rules alone, now did he??

  11. Maybe next time the video should be discarded and you should be hired to "interpret" the game for everyone. Of course "portions of the crowd saw what they saw". Do I need to guess which portion you have in mind? But, then, that is why video is used.

Ask the RH party involved and I believe he will tell you what I'm talking about. I heard from a very good source that his actions were were warranted and understandable but his retaliation was very real and visible to the "minority" that Fastbreak is talking about.:argue:

Its agree to disagree I guess!!!;) I will quite posting on this matter, good luck to the Royals tonight!!!

What is the pay involved in this "interpreter" position?:D

BTW- glad to see the RH BGPreppers Club re-emerging back to OJ/Walker/Dawson day levels!!!

  12. It really does not matter, the game is over and RH looked very formidable!! The avid RH supporters will have their slanted view of the incident and believe what they want-which is how it should be-support your own.

Why would officials ever come up with a decision contrary to their original solution??? They immediately lose credibility. ;)

  13. The referees reviewed the video tape of the "incident" and concluded quite the opposite of what you have concluded. They reaffirmed the appropriateness of their earlier actions. Sorry to disappoint you but, please remember, a picture is worth a thousand words.

Scooter B, then sorry the video did not catch it!! This is just my opinion regardless, but a certain portion of the crowd saw what they saw!!:thumb:
