  1. Just heard that all the previous stuff mentioned about Honeycutt was false info and that he is still interested and hasn't been offered the job as of Thursday last week. He is a great coach wth a lot of experience and would do a great job if given the job. But I myself don't see him leaving his home where his father lives also, but could be wrong. Now Parks I'm sure is looking to get out of Pippa Passes and June B. He took that job probably to just get some head coaching experience and he done a good job while their, but don't think that the basketball program will last over their, so I'm sure he will be applying everywhere and anywhere to get out of their soon. Don't really know anything about the guy from Tates Creek. I'm sure a great guy and has been under some great coaches, so he should know his stuff. Very tough decision for the staff and I'm sure they will pick the person with the right fit for them.

  2. There was never any doubt that he was one and done. They hired him to win a championship and that is what he did, back to Pulaski for him. They already have a coach in place, their new AD Trent. I'm sure he was put in that position last year so he would be their to inherit this job next year. He is a great young coach that has a lot of years to do many great things for the Knott County system. With all the cuts that has to be made in education, I'm sure it will help to stay within the system for the new coach.

Slight possibility that Coach Holland could be lured over that way, but would be difficult to get him away from all of the talent at Hazard.

  4. Leslie County had a really good post player last year that I think was only a sophomore. Won't they be decent next year?

Well word is, he did a school visit at none other than, Hazard High school yesterday. So I would say Leslie would be way down if he transfers. I didn't know high school kids were allowed school visits. This is the 2nd BIG MAN, oh excuse me, I mean STUDENT, that has done this in the last little bit. I'm sure it was for educational reasons. The STUDENT from Buckhorn also did this a few weeks ago too, sounds a little funny if you ask me.

  5. Coach Holland would not go to Estill County, just a rumor. Jon Bentley interview last night, from what I hear it was a good one. Could be hiring soon, good luck to the Engineers on this hiring process. Always a tough decision.

Just wondering, didn't either of the assistants apply? They have been their a long time and have paid their dues, surely they would give them a chance.

  6. Heard rumor of Hazard getting a top player from another 14 region school. If this ends up to be true then they will be the top team in the 14th next season.

Day from Buckhorn has already said several times he is not transferring to Hazard, I wish everyone would leave that one alone. It's simply not true. Unless Coach Hatcher leaves Perry and Coach Noble is asked to move over and take over at Perry, Day will be right their at Buckhorn. Now if Noble leaves, makes things a whole lot different. You never know what will happen with the coaching changes in the 14th.

  7. I'll just give you my vote right now! Elisha Justice is a lock for Mr. Basketball and if he wants I'm sure will be the next walk on at the University of Kentucky. Unless he would rather stay with his first choice, Rick Pitino at U of L. Whichever he choses, he will have a lifetime of memories. Totally deserving of every thing that he gets.

  8. Good official.

    Who worked with him?

Clyde, you might know the answer to this. Why didn't the KHSAA wait until Saturday mornings games were over before they assigned the finals? From what I hear, they did for the girls finals. That makes sense instead of assigning the finals on Friday night!

I believe there were some possible conflicts of interest with some officials depending on which teams won on Saturday morning, most of the time, these decisions are made on Friday night.

  9. The officials are chosen on Friday night after the first 3 days of work and evaluations. If you are chosen to work the Semi's on Saturday morning you do not work Saturday night. You have 8 officials working the semi's including the alternate at the table for the morning semi's, then 4 officials in the finals. Tommy Hutton was the alternate on the finals this year from the 14th region, his I believe 9th state finals. So only 12 out of the 16 or 17 officials get to work on Saturday.

  10. I'm glad to see Doug Noble get 14th region coach of the year. I thought he did a great job down there this year.

Is he going to get another year their? I heard early in the district tourney probably not, but after the regional tourney, maybe they changed their minds. I thought he did a pretty good job and he does have one of the best guards coming up, and it is his son. :)

  11. The back court violation did take place at the 6:01 mark of the first quarter, just watched it on Ihigh.com on the khsaa website. It was a crazy play and the kid from Ballard actually did gain possession in the front court and slid across the line into the back court, was a lot of hands on the ball and was a difficult call to make.

The John Wall Sleeve, everyone is wearing them and all they can do is ask if it's medical, if they say yes, no more questions about it.

The shirt should of definitely been changed.

Overall the officials did a great job in this tourney, you are always going to have questions, but they can't get them all right or catch everything.

James called the semi finals in the girls state in 08. Done a great job then too.

  12. So Ballard was in control, lost it, then was the last to touch in front court, and first to touch in back court. Clear violation!

Didn't see it, could they have thought maybe that Valley had possession for a second during the scrum before Ballard touched it and it went into back court or what, that would definitely make it not a violation. Just trying to see what they could of thought on the play?

  13. Will KCC and PCC still be the favorites? How about Hazard and June Buchanan? What's your top 4 for that region next season?

Knott has a good group coming back, great JV team, but won't be as strong without their monster senior class. Same goes for Perry, they are losing a lot, but have one of the best JV teams around. Hazard will probably be the strongest of the 3. JBS is no where in the equation.

    1. Hazard- best young team in the mountains coming up

    2. Letcher-made a good run this year and don't lose hardly anything

    3. Knott/Perry will be right there rebuilding together, but still has more talent than anyone else in the region.

    5. Wolfe - if they stay together and have no one leave, watch out for them

    6. Buckhorn- great young team returning, could be dangerous

    7. Breathitt- have some talent returning
