  1. Priscilla Brownfield from Campbell County was the girl who made it to state last year. She went 3-2 in the 103 lb. weight division. She wrestles for the women's team at Univ. of the Cumberlands. She is tough, tenacious and really hung in there. New weight loss standards have been implemented which makes it impossible to "cut weight" in a dangerous manner. Kids can only cut 1 1/2 % of their weight a week. It is monitered very closely. This is why so many boys were switching weight classes two weeks before regionals. It took alot of them the whole season to get to their wrestling weight. As far as Russell being afraid the sport would "steal" from their basketball players, this is ridiculous. The weight classes range from 103 to 285. As far as I'm concerned, this just gives kids who would not be able to play basketball a winter sport to enjoy. For an informative discussion about wrestling, you are right, BluegrassPreps is mostly basketball and football. That's why a website was set up years ago for kentucky high school wrestling fans. Other than checking on here occasionally, the discussions about wrestling can be continued on another website devoted ONLY to Kentucky high school wrestling. PM me and I'll be happy to give you the address or simply google it.
  2. Danny Weddle has posted a couple of updates about Shotwell on his website. The link to the site is http://courtsidewithdannyweddle.blogspot.com/ .
  3. Check these rankings carefully. There are many wrestlers that have been left off for various reasons.
