  1. Mark Maynard did a preseason Top 10 now lets rank the postseason Top 10.

Players personally have told me Ferguson is unbelievable, probably the BEST player in the region after Owens of course. Ferguson had an impressive game against Greenup who probably had the best defense in the Region.

Last 4 teams in the Regional Tournament was Russell, Fairview, Greenup, and Elliott. Greenup and Fairview players are not getting no love to get that far.

  2. The season is over; how well did Mark Maynard do ranking the Top 10 players of the 16th Region and how would you rank them now with the season over. Are there some players that need to be added or dropped out of the Top 10, post your Top 10 and explain why?

All these players are good, more than half of them almost never got recognition like weddington, (faulkners), ferguson, wolfenbarker, jones, daniel, hutchinson. You can't say they been sleepers, they can play and should get more recognition.

  4. i wasn't bashing anyone, if anyone i would never bash a kid, i see where anyone could of gotten that. Bashing the Daily Independent, yes. They should make a point to give every star "spotlight" on every team. I mean Ashland is the target because thats the school that the players get "spotlight" just because they play there. Daily Independent, Mark Maynard puts a piece in the Cats Pause. These things add up.

  5. Ok lets say he does deserve the credit. Where is all the credit for the other kids that also play their hearts out and are true basketball players that can make it to the next level but never got an opportunity. I am stating kids from almost any team in the 16th region at some point had a player in the top 100 in the state and the player didn't make it because its all about recognition. Morgan Co. has produced a lot of players that should be playing in college in recent years, east carter, greenup co., boyd co., russell, possibly rowan co. and maybe other players i can't think of. If the players from those schools played for Ashland they would of got a lot more recognition and get a chance to play in college. Daily Independent should advertise all players in the 16th region to help all players out to get them to the next level, education, etc. I feel there is a more than slight favoritism toward Ashland players

  6. In almost every situation, the kids are great, fabulous people. They don't get the credit like they should. Its every one that plays for Ashland gets more reconigtion, so therefore the public thinks they are better players than what they are. Players through out the region are far more better players and don't get the credit that they deserve. Drew is probably a great kid, but as a basketball player he is not as good as papers, public, etc. say he is.

  7. They are all 3 good athletes, but their not basketball players. I've watched them play. They are very good athletes but not basketball players. Well they can be placed at 5th ranking if that will make ya feel better. This is a real weak Ashland team in a long time. A loss of a 6-8 player really hurt this team and they are always able to produce a 6-8 center. Ashland is going through a rocky road right now. They have great tradition but were are discussing about the current team.
