  1. The two middle school system is a big part of the problem. When the schools were purposed to be opened they were named Greenup County East (Wurtland) and Greenup County West (McKell). But, then magically those names were literally removed from the schools (I remember seeing the names posted at the Wurtland location on a sign) and the county was once again split with the old animosity from the days of having three independent schools. As far as making it to the Region once in four years, one must understand that when Hicks arrived the program was near the bottom. The previous regime before Hicks seemed to believe that the talent at the school was never ending and seemingly fell out of trees. As I've said before under Ward GC was a program and to have that you have to cultivate the talent, not just expect it to show up. No matter your opinion I think that Hicks was on the verge of bringing the program back to one of the better programs in the 16th Region. Much like his predecessor, I believe that at first he was of the philosophy that the talent would just flood in, but it took a couple of seasons for him to learn differently. The truth is there has always been jealousy in and of the basketball program at GC, it is unfortunate that the many years that one man (Ward) put into a program is no closer to being a contender than it was after he left. As far as who he beat to be 4-1, it's just as hard to judge what his record would be as of now as it is to say the current coach could do just the same.

There may not be a big supply of athletes at Greenup. Who's fault is it? No one. There are several top notch players that could have graduated in the past couple of years or play this year that would definately put Greenup back up on top. These players decided not to play or went some where else to play. Greenup needs a coach to stay there for awhile and the players will come. However, the JV has only lost 2 games and the seniors are a very good group of kids. Together they can make a run in the region. Don't give up boys, we all have faith you in you!

  2. Ashland is tough, they could lose tomorrow and still be a favorite.

Greenup's Wolfenbarker was in foul trouble all game and Ashland got too big of lead for Greenup to overcome. Am I saying if Wolfenbarker wasn't in foul trouble Greenup would win? NO. It probably would have been a closer game when Greenup played a lot better 2nd half.

  3. This was a ten point game at the end of the third and about a 13 point game

for most of the fourth. Greenup scored 4 or 6 points against the JV at the

end of the ballgame. For a rivalry game and coming off a tough loss, I'll take

    a win on the road.

    Greenup's JV was in too.

Greenup showed a lot tonight, they will be a contender if Greenup progresses after this game.

  4. I believe the Coach Marty Mills is currently coaching basketball on the Shawnee State University staff. I believe they are 3rd in their conference with a legit chance to make the national tournament. I'm not sure he would want to give up that position to go coach at G.C. during all this controversy!

Yea, Mills is doing coaching at SSU voluntarily.

  5. Here are some players that deserve some recognition for their continue effort on the court. Players that might not receive the recognition in the papers as others may do. Feel free to add some players.
