When I first got Sirius satellite radio in 2005, he had a show on the Grateful Dead channel that would air on Saturday night, appropriately called, "One More Saturday Night." It was the coolest thing ever and a big reason I love The Dead.
I am not old enough to witness his basketball play, but from all I've consumed, you could argue he was the greatest college player ever and the ultimate "what if" guy had he not been injured. I was always taken with the reverence he had for John Wooden and the love he had for that man.
I’d say Alcindor, Walton and Laettner, in that order. Hard to go very wrong with Walton at number one, though.

I read a long time ago that Walton was seven feet tall, but considered that to be a bit freakish. He insisted that he be listed at 6-11.

There’s a great bit out there where Walton is talking about the first time he took the Celtics to a Dead concert.
All except Ainge. His wife wouldn’t let him go.

RIP. Great player, an acquired taste as a broadcaster (I loved him).

Hockey doesn’t get attention here, and I’m as guilty as anyone for not promoting it. I don’t watch regular season hockey but I do try to catch postseason elimination games. Last night was no exception as Edmonton held off a late rally by Vancouver. We’re down to:
NY Rangers - FL Panthers
DAL Stars - EDM Oilers

Wolves come back from 20 down to dominate the homestanding Nuggets in the second half. I love game sevens.

Redlegs catch the Padres at a good time. They play a doubleheader today at Atlanta, and Darvish pitched yesterday.
-
Reds drop another close one, 3-2.

Good guys drop games 2 and 3; 7-2 and 4-0. Try to get the split today.

Burrow healthy? 12-5.

Tough one to let get away today after a nice early lead.

Had the Reds not scored a run in the ninth, this would have been only the second home series (3 games or more) in franchise history scoring one or fewer runs.
-
Os 2 Reds 1. Same story as last night. Great pitching but not much hitting.

I know it is one big party, but at 64 years old, I don't understand why anybody would want to stand for hours at a time at the NFL Draft just to hear 3 or 4 players mentioned for their team. I had my ESPN app and I was able to follow the progress of the draft pretty well and I turned on the TV whenever the Bengals got close to a pick. I was able to get a lot done at home while still staying aware of what was going on.

No one seems to be commenting too much about the effects the transfer portal and NIL have had on mid-major universities in sports but in my opinion it has pretty much destroyed their chances of building sports programs with any kind of continuity like they have in the past. All of us can think of stars from the past that excelled at mid-majors and stayed through their senior season in football and basketball. But that has changed. Morehead State two years ago lost a very good 6’10 player to Auburn is just one of many examples. Players all over the nation are jumping from the mid-majors to the power conference schools.
As Bob Dylan’s song says, “The times they are a-changing”, and for the mid-majors it’s not a good change in my opinion.Agree with much of what you say. The very best of the Moreheads and Daytons of the world are all gonna be cherry-picked. Every one of them.

It isn’t just twenty bucks a pop to sign a stack of 8X10s, that’s for sure.

Reds manage just two hits and no runs against Os pitching. Greene did his job but got no run support.

Right, Wind plays a big factor in results and have to show up at state meet with healthy roster. I've always thought have to have good luck at end of season since one key guy/girl is injured which could cost you championship.
Having a stud jumper or two is often the key to a title. Pile up points in the vertical and horizontal jumps.

You oughta watch an EPL match. With those guys it’s nose blowing.

The draft grades that I’ve seen for the Steelers have been extremely positive. Top three.

The couple of draft grades I’ve seen have the Bengals in the middle of the pack.

Did I just hear that right, the Ravens posse (kids I might add) introducing the pick all just said "the Steelers suck" before announcing the Ravens pick?
That is so trashy for the Ravens, the NFL, National TV. What is next? The person introducing the Steelers next pick has every right to bash the Ravens on national TV now, right.
I thought it was bush league.

There were a handful of coaches that the UK Admin ruled out before Barnhart started the process, Pearl, Beard and a couple others.
Oates and Wright pulled themselves out of any conversation before it even started. Hurley turned down a Brinks truck of money and Drew and family didn't want move. Donovan was going to wait at least a week plus to even speak to UK with no guarantee that he'd take the job. After being turned down twice before by Billy D, I think his name was just floated to placate a segment of the fans that were hung up on him. I don't think Donovan was on top of Mitch's list, just on top of fan's list.
Pope was the next rung of coaches they considered and chose him over the others. Pope was officially the third person actually offered or pitched the job.
Thanks for the clarification. Sounds like semantics. Third choice/offered vs third seriously considered/wanted.

I thought the same thing, even down to his hands, but that was just a first impression on tv.
Some of those other guys are road graders.

Pacers had a 90+ percent chance to win late in games 1, 3 and 4. They’re not quite ready for the big time yet, especially without Halliburton on the floor.
