Congrats to Campbell County for their win in Cake Classic. Allison McElveen won MVP honors!

Coaches poll say something but not too reliable...Highlands has beaten SK, Beechwood and Apollo...all made it in but not Highlands. A lot of coaches around the state don't really get to see how other teams are doing or even know which teams to try to check on. Of course....the top 6 are no suprise. Good job NCC and Notre Dame!!

NCC in 2, could be a good match but I definitely think NCC will win in 2. No need for a thrid game in this one.

Pre-season rankings come from coaches before they've seen any other team in NKY play....can't mean too much!

I don't know that I would say NKY volleyball is down. I think there was a poor display of volleyball last evening though.

NDA came our very flat against a very flat SK team. Other games that I have seen the Pandas play this year have been must more intense and great volleyball to watch.

Ryle was off last night, which can be seen by the scores. They couldn't get anything going offensively or defensively.

They may have a 31-1 record but according to KHSAA, the level of competition that they have played is no where near the teams that NCC has played. I think its NCC's regional championship to win.

What days/times are the games?

I think most people would pick NCC as the clear favorite. A win-loss record certainly doesn't tell you everything about a team.

I dont care really who wins the tourney as long as a private school dont.

A private school team absolutely will win the state tournament...no questions asked. While I beleive it will be Assumption...if it is not...the only teams that could come close to beating them are the private schools.

I searched for the stats online but no luck finding them...

Now that the season is moving along and heading toward post-season....who are the top performers thus far?

Clearly...Neimer from St. Henry, Snyder at Beechwood....Kaela Jo and Alyx both look tough for NCC.

Beechwood beat Holy Cross in the finals of the Cake Classic. Highlands and Campbell County tied for 3rd place. Great tournament.

Its called the Cake Classic because Highlands (and Fort Thomas in general) are lovingly referred to as "cake eaters" so several years ago the Cake Classic was started. Along with the trophy, the winning team receives a cake.

Cake Classic is played at Highlands High School and Highlands Middle School in Fort Thomas, KY.

Matches are 6,7,8 on Friday. Matches begin at 9am on Saturday.

Apollo lost a senior this week so they are down from last year. I think it should be Highlands or Simon Kenton if they bring their game!!

She is recovering from surgery after a torn ACL. Hopefully she'll be back in time to play some club ball...she's quite a talented player.

Yes...Cake Classic is next weekend. It would typically be held this weekend but conflicted with a home football game. Thus, NCC (who has typically participated) can't come this year as they are in the Fall Classic.

Not sure on dates of September Slam or any tournaments left this season.

Just can't include Conner at this time since they have lost some I think they should have won and apparently have an injury or two to some key players..

Highlands lost a close one to Ryle in 3 (19-25, 25-13, 24-26). Highlands has now beaten Boone and Campbell...take on NCC on Tuesday. SHould be a tough match for the birds.

What happened to CCHS's setter?

NCC did beat Boone last Wednesday and the game did not even look close....NCC was on their game and Boone never stood a chance.

Although it could change at any minute....Highlands beat Boone pretty easily but Boone has beat both Beechwood and Ryle this season. Other than NDA and SHDHS...its anyone's guess this year.
