This game could come down to whether Ryan Crisp plays or not. Boyd played as a much different team last week after he went out of the game.
-
You are correct, not all do, but I know several that do.
-
Don't think for a minute that the coaches don't have input or aren't around to influence what is going on.
-
Also we need not forget to mention that Fyffe from Johnson Central was named to the 2nd team.
-
Congrats go out to Boyd Co pitcher Justin Moore on being selected to the 1st team All-State team.:ylsuper: :ylsuper: :ylsuper:

Barker was a late add-on after voting, and deservingly so. Each year coaches invite players to fill out their rosters after voting is finished. The two nominees voted on for our region was Hieneman and Martin. All three will represent our region very well. I originally thought it was Dearfield and Moore for the seniors, Blanton must have replaced Moore.
Yes, Blanton did replace Justin Moore. He was the original selection, but was not available to play in the game due to being out of town with the Hounds, his summer team. I am glad though, that they replaced a Boyd Co kid with another Boyd Co kid.

There will always be people left off in these polls, but generally the ones that make the list are deserving.

When and where is the game this year?

So, PRP lost with Cox not taking the mound in the state tournament?
So much for saving him for the championship. This happens all too many times, but if I were coaching, I would have saved him too. Shelby was not that impressive in the 1st round, but turned it on against PRP. Anything can happen in HS baseball.
-
maybe I'm wrong but according to MLB.com the only Justin Moore that was selected was a Justin Moore from Virginia, by the Orioles. Unless Moore is now calling Va. home it's not the same one.
Pretty confusing right now. Baseball America lists him as being drafted.

Congrats JC. Keep it rolling and make it to Applebees!

Disappointing end, something that should not be overlooked is how ALL of the seniors played in this game. Boyd only had 6 hits for the game and committed 0 errors...... Going down the lineup.
Casey Branham- 2-4 with a double.
Brad Blanton -1 hit,BB
Odis Sturgill- good defense, came up in bunt situations and came thru.
Greg Bowling- 1 hit,RBI, pitched good enough to win.
Tyler Perkins - pitched good in both games he played, tough luck loss.
Justin Moore-did not play in this game but, pitched great in 1st round game.
There has been much discussion on coaching in this game the only thing that was VERY evident was Greenup was not going to let any of THESE guys beat them and they were pitched around, intenally walked and pitched to the next guy and such. These players never had a chance to hit when it really mattered. ( you must tip your hat to Greenups coaches for that).
In the 2nd inning Boyd had the bases loaded and 2 outs with Casey Branham on deck, Greenup went right after the batter and struck him out on 4 pitches. Next inning Branham leads off the inning with a double. This was typical of how Boyds nite went thats when other players have to step up.
There has been much discussion on Boyds future talent level. These players mentioned above have been their underclass men for the last 2 teams that went to Applebees. Seniors can lead but they cannot bat in every spot in the lineup.
Congrats to Greenup, If you finish the job you are in for an unforgettable experience you will never forget.
To the Boyd Co. seniors you got 2 tastes of something some kids will never get the chance to be a part of and you will remember the rest of your lives.

Ill take JC anytime Fyffe is on the hill.

That is all a matter of opinion I guess....But your opinion does seem to be the opinion of a lot of people that I ran into today, especially the Greenup Co Fans. They basically said the same thing you did.
I've heard it from alot of BC fans and players as well. It seemed as though Logan was one step ahead of them all night. The BC players seem to not have any idea about situational hitting. Ans from what I hear, it isn't stressed in practice either. I saw players in the dugout shaking their heads at certain calls that Maynard made during the game. Players must be confident in their coach, and I didn't see that out of the BC players.
-
BC was flat out OUTCOACHED and did not execute well in key situations. Good luck Greenup on the rest of your season.
-
He didn't ask for contact hitters, the thread asks about big hitters.

Truth of the matter on these post season awards from district, regional, all-area, type awards is how many they can pick from 1 team. If your fool around with this stuff they need to pick the best players even if they are from 1 or 2 teams, otherwise dont bother.
I couldn't agree more. There were several kids who had better tournaments than some who were selected. It is joke to set an amount to select for each team. Kids look forward to getting awards, and work hard to try and get them. But it is upsetting when you know that you played better than someone else, but was slighted because the all-tourn team had to select players from teams that didn't deserve to get them.

What's the deal with Rowan Co. being 28-8? Wow! Are they a region favorite this year?
They are prob in the top four, but Boyd Co is the favorite to win the region
-
Boyd definitly has the pitching to win the region this season. In fact, they are one of the few teams with 3 quality starters. But if they are knocked off, I would look for Greenup to win it all.

4 BC pitchers combine on the 5 Inn no-hitter. Good job Lions and Good Luck wed vs. Ashland.
-
BC 12 Rose Hill 0
Ashland 5 Fairview 4
BC 7 Ashland 2
-
Good win for the Lions. They started out slow in this one, but finally got fired up against a good hitting Paintsville team, and pulled this one out. Hopefully this will give them some momentum heading into the post season. Go Lions.

Congrats to Casey Branham on signing with Morehead State. I look forward to watching some of your games there as you continue to grow as a baseball player. MSU is getting a good one.:ylsuper:

This was a game of uglies. Both teams struggled badly in this game. I know that a win is a win, but I'm sure neither coach wanted to see a game like this right before district play is to begin.

Not taking anything away from RH on winning, I love nothing more than for Ashland to lose to anyone, but this shows how really down the 16th region is this year.
