  1. So you're saying Dixie's captains are worried more about themselves than the team?

No that would be what you said he said worry about their stats, (Which who knows who he is) but if you want to stir things up go ahead.

This site should be about predicting games and talking about games I get sick of reading adults bashing on kids, coaches and refs.

Dixie needs a win to assure a playoff spot.

As far as the game Dixie's D needs to step up, and pitch a shut out and build some confidence, going into the post season

  2. If the run is working why stop it???? And if someone has a petition to sign to make some "changes" at Dixie I thnik there wouldn't have been enough paper at that game for everyones signatures! And what's with the in-fighting among coaches???? Is this part of the problem.....

Sounds like you are behind the Colonels in this post. I did not see any arguing with the coaches. I believe you are with the colonels and when they loose it is someone elses fault they lost.

I am not letting the coach off the hook but execution is key. A coach can call any play and if it is executed like it is suppose to be it will be successful.

The reason people are questioning the passing with 5 mins. left (Me included) is because the pass was dropped. (by a player not a coach) My point is there was plenty of blame to go around on Friday, and if you are truly with the colonels you should support the coaches, because when little johnny hears you questioning the coaches, that can spread doubt into Johnny's head about this team. You can either kick the Colonels while they are down or pick them up and encourage them to go get the Rebels this week. This includes the Players, and Coaches.

  3. This is a great thread Bubba. I agree with all you said I get frustrated by people who do these same things on this Site. I believe support your team and when you question acts remeber you are looking at things in hind sight. When a coach calls a play that dosen't work, or a kid makes a mistake, I am sure if they knew what the result was going to be they would do something different.

Bubatruck thanks for saying what I have wanted to for sometime to these so called fans

  4. Atta boy Lick! Huge win for you and your Boys.

What a disappointing loss from a Dixie perspective. Can his defenders honestly still be out there?

I agree with you after this weekend I think he and Pete Carroll can't coach and should be fired both of their teams laid eggs. So point all blame to the coaches. Don't give the other team any credit at all.

This is a great win for Holmes they played a great footbal game. They forced turnovers and I am not sure if they had any, they made big plays on offense when they needed. These are all the things you need for an upset.

Congrats Holmes go beat CCH and set up a rematch.

  5. I might be kicked off the site for this but who is correct Guru or Ryan Ernst?

    "The latest on Yeagle ...

As we reported earlier, Lloyd coach Mike Yeagle will not rejoin the team until after its game Saturday against Holy Cross. Yeagle took a leave of absence three weeks ago. Rumors are circulating regarding Yeagle's future at the school -- ranging from "he's back with the team" to "he's resigned."

Lloyd athletic director Chad Molley said today that neither is true.

"Mike was back at work (teaching) this week, but we don't want to threw him back in the fire right away in mid-week," Molley said. "... We don't want to get into a situation where he's back and then he's not. We'd like to establish some continuity."

Yeagle, who won eight state titles in 14 seasons at Beechwood, is in his first year at Lloyd. He's been on the sidelines for just one game this season -- a Week 2 loss at Beechwood.

Molley said Yeagle is helping interim head coach Roy Lucas Jr. prepare for Holy Cross but will not be on the sidelines Saturday."

  6. Saying Dixie is better then Cov Cath. You might want to ask Dale about that he doesnt think that.

I don't think Dale has to answer I saw 1 team beat the other 44-28. So that told me until they play again Dixie is better than Cov. Cath.

To prove how rediculous it is to say 1 team is better than the other based on scores I give you last year.

    HHS 49- DHHS 0

    CCH 28- DHHS 7

    CCH then beats Highlands twice.

  7. Ditto on the thanks for clearing that up.

I'm with my friend 81. CovCath football is in great shape. Because of last year's dominant senior class, this year's team is pretty inexperienced at a lot of positions. But based on what I saw, they certainly have the talent and size (man, were some of those linemen big). If Buckley can come back and play up to his abilities and the line and qb keep developing, CovCath will be very good come the playoffs. And I like your coaching staff. I think they did a great job on Saturday. You've got some keepers there. Here's to many more good battles between the Birds and the Colonels over the upcoming years.

I am sure many in Ft. Thomas like them a whole lot better than the last staff.

  8. Here is the way I look at this comment.

Everyone knows Dale likes to score as many points as possible (Who Doesn't. He just isn't as concerned about the other teams mindset as some coaches) and most people realize there have been games where Dale could have done things to prevent the 88-12, 81-0 70-25's but that isn't his style. So if Lynn Ray points out that by Dale trying to score as many points as he could came back to bite him so be it. (It is the Truth) I said it in an earlier post This was the one time it came back to bite him. I think If Lynn Ray says Because Dale tried to score as many points as he possibly could we were able to get back in the game, Instead of saying Run up the score. This thread probably wouldn't exist.

Move on it has been 10 years

Cov. Cath won the State Championship.

  9. I can't say I remeber the exact offense Highlands ran in 1997 but they typically are not a line up and run over you team. They use their speed and athleticism to run through you. After all didn't that Offense put up something like 35 points. My theory is do what you do, because when you try to run offense that isn't your specialty you are asking for trouble. This was one rare occasion where things didn't work out for Highlands. I think they rebounded ok the next few years.

  10. Coach Warner consistently will win and is developing a solid program. The rest in 6A would be well served to learn from him. He is one of the very few coaches that has a good record in post season play in the large school divisions.

He won his first post season game last year. Not saying he isn't a good coach just pointing out facts. Great win for SK they have come a long way since week 1.

  11. You've got a QB in a shotgun formation with 2 backs, thus he has 4 options. He either hands off to one of the backs, keeps it himself, or passes. The play actions and misdirections to the backs help keep the defense on their heals. This seems to be their main offensive set, but you also see a lot of different formations. With Dixie, it's shotgun with 1 or 0 backs, and that's it. Also add into the fact that Highlands has the option of a tight end leaking out, which hurt Dixie in the second half.

As for the adjustments, it was evident that Highlands made adjustments on the defensive side of the ball, and not just offensively. The bubble screen that worked with Brock in the first half, didn't in the second. Highlands read it every time. They also went with more press coverage and double teams on Detmer forcing someone else to step up. Offensively, adding Cecil wasn't really an adjustment. It was just their other offense that if ran in the first half would've had the same results. I wouldn't call the onside kick much of an adjustment either. It was just taking advantage of something they've seen on film. If given the opportunity, they would've done the same in the first half. They do this every year too. Dixie's special teams should've been aware that this could've happened at anytime during the game.

I am not sure a guy reading a bubble screen and coming up is an adjustment either. That is just being a smart Football player.

My point is the addition of Cecil, and the onside Kick changed the game. After that Dixie's kids laid down and took a beating. I think Bill Walsh could have called the offense and Bill Bellicheck could have called the D, and Dixie would have lost.

The onside kick is on the Coaching, but I don't think Bashing Dixie's staff to death is going to change a thing. As someone said in the JV game thread put your application in for their job.

  12. I just get a kick out of this every week. It seems as though our "talent pool" that every one keeps mentioning has gotten smaller(in physical size) over the last several years. We all know what the line looked like for Jared and Gino, but since Gino things have been much smaller on the O line. I say I get a kick out of this because whether you look at the size of the goal line D for Dixie, or the size of the Trotwood lines...our lines are just handling whatever comes their way. I have to give major props to these guys, players and coaches. It just goes to show you that size is only part of the equation, technique is what these boys are using as the major advantage and just blowing people off the ball.

    Well done players, coaches, everyone!

I agree. Big don't mean Bad. Highlands Line has been small the past few years but they get more out of their linemen than any team in NKY. They are the elite in NKY.

They beat (and I don't mean by 1 or 2 points) any NKY team put in front of them. (Well except CCH last year) Besides Cov. Cath when is the last time a NKY team played with in 3 TD's of Highlands?

  13. chsh81...

I am not absolving the boys but I do think that sooner (as opposed to later) someone has to hold the coaches accountable too. The team is not sending in the plays, I feel sure that it is the coaches. I agree that the boys didn't play well but again at some point you have to wonder why the ball wasn't put up in the air or some different plays weren't used. How many times can they run the ball up the middle before everyone in stands knows what is coming?????

It worked for Highlands as they ran QB over Right or left end, or RB over Right or left end until the Cows came home. Basically as I said the coaches were not great, but execution makes coaching look good. IF they block like they are suppose to then the play works. Much like if they tackle like they are suppose to then It doesn't work for Highlands.

I have read much about the Adjustments Highlands made and the 2 major ones were, Cecil in the Ball game (That kid is a player and makes Highlands have 3 threats to run the ball in the Backfield) and the onside kick. Those 2 adjustments made a 7 point game a 23 point game and then it was over.

  14. Since I made one of the orginal posts criticizing some of the Dixie fans, I want to point something out, and it dovetails with the above quoted post. The Dixie players were trying their hearts out and played with a lot of class. I saw several Dixie players pat Highlands players on the back after a play and help up the Highlands players after a tackle. I don't know the name of Dixie's #53, but after the game he walked by my son as we were talking, and he patted my son on the shoulder pad and said "good game". Nice gesture and not easy to do after you've gotten beaten. He was a good player too. I don't know the name of the JV head coach, but I was also impressed by him and his ability to keep his composure as his "fans" were yelling at him. Good job coach. You're a bigger man that I am, because I would not have been able to take it. Dixie JV players, keep your heads us and keep playing hard. You have a lot of talent. Combine hard work and good talent, and you end up winning a lot of games.

    Great Post

Any one Know who Dixie's JV coach is now?

  15. Then do something about it. He continues to lose fine young in districts athletes(sp) to Schools such as CCh,Beechwood and Highlands.

I read on here a post by SM saying his sons played for Tom and he would send them back. I will say this about Highlands talent pool compared to Dixie's. If Dixie's starting quarterback were out I think they would struggle to score at all let alone have a lead at Half against a quality opponent (If you would call Dixie that, they haven't been lately). Good luck to the Birds the rest of the way.

Quick question what is their schedule like the rest of the way I know asking a Highlands fan this is stupid but can they win out?

  16. Oh, feel the love. Parents blaming the coaching staff and absolving the boys completely.

I agree, The coaches didn't miss tackles or blow coverage they may not have been at their best especially in the 2nd half, but I am pretty sure they weren't the ones blowing assignments.

With that said it is time to get back to work and move on for both players and coaches there is still a long season a head.
