  1. It amazes me that so many people are on here trying to tear down Male instead of congratulating them. Must be some jealous people is all I can figure.

Congratulations to Male, the coaches and the players.

    :thumb:

Male has been destroting everyone all year and they are loaded with speed and talent....any mention in any poll ..especially this high.....is good for all of KY football...

  2. Great job Nick. He has come a long way. He is truly a leader on this team. I really think if he is able to lead the Rocks past the favored Dawgs tonight, and then on to a second state championship he should be named Mr. Football. He is a winner, I don't have any higher praise for a player than that.

Nick has done an excellent job this year...his stats in this article are great.

Beaumont is going to be very tough to beat with going both ways and all..

  3. Marshall Stadium can hold about 8,500 people (and that is with a lot of folks without a seat). If we could sell another few thousand tickets at PJCS, you bet the game gets moved. Its a money thing.

"I'd do exactly the same thing," Trinity coach Bob Beatty said. "… It's your backyard. If it's your choice to do that, absolutely, I would do the same thing."

  4. The 5-foot-9 185-pounder has scholarship offers from NCAA Division I-AA Jacksonville State and Richmond and also is considering Nevada.

There's also a school here in town he's considering, the one where his dad is the coach.

"It's a possibility," Petrino said. "Me and my dad have been talking about it, but we decided that we want to do the best thing for me. I'm going to wait until the season is over before I really start looking into where I want to go."

For now he's focused on tonight's game. Male and Trinity haven't met since the classic 4-A final in 2002, which the Shamrocks won 59-56. Could this one produce more offensive fireworks?

"I think there's a possibility it will be a shootout," Petrino said. "But both defenses are coming out with a lot of confidence because they've been playing well all season, so it's going to be a tough game. It could be a shootout, and it could be a low-scoring game."

    Spoken like a coach's son.

  5. QB's comment on living in the past was a bash that wasn't needed towards someone who was giving the factual historical background on the kids who will make up next year's varsity team. In my opinion for X, the freshman level is probably a slightly better indicator of how the varsity team will look, simply because they have a differnet philosophy than other teams concerning JV. Considering their past records and the amount of quality PT given to a number of players, I expect next year to be a strong squad. I hope we get to see more of Will Simmons, the kid has tremendous speed. What happened to DJ this year? I know he was hurt early. I expect him to be a big time player in the future.

DJ was hurt....he was a great Freshman QB and a very dangerous CB/Safety....he had several INTs as a Frosh. He has the talent to play both...with Zoeller coming back....I wonder if he'll stick with the CB/Safety position or even move to another. He is a very talented athlete. The Brutcher (sp?) kid looked good at QB too.

  6. Trust me Xman85, you are fighting a loosing battle. That Tiger.....I mean Rock.....;) .....won't change it's spots. Many before you have tried and failed, including many from his own camp. You are better to just :walk:

I know...It's just that I've coached many fine young men that ended up going to both schools and some other fine public schools....I just hate to see any poster diminish the great tradition and class that these 2 fine schools represent, teach, demand, and foster....

  7. It's an accurate quote. Will W. needs to take that program over......

Coach Glaser's job has nothing to do with making Trinity fans happy....just as Beatty's has nothing to do with making X fans happy...

Once again.....quit bashing...take the high raod and talk up your program instead of trying to down-grade another....represent your great school with the honor and respect that it deserves....and Trinity is too good to need someone to attack another school's accomplishments or coach to prove itself.

  8. Boy...do we live in the past. What about their JV career?

This thread is about upcoming classes and what they are capable of...Past records are generally considered as a good barometer....

..JV football at X is a different animal by design....X usually does not play Vasity players...especially ones that get significant time on the JV team.....so even though they both had good JV records....it is hard to use that as a barometer.....

...instead of bashing...try to take the high road....and post about your team instead of attacking other teams....show some class and represent your great school with the honor and respect that they deserve.

  9. I don't care where the game is played.

All I ask for is the following:

    Adequate security.

    Adequate food.

    Adequate drink.

    Adequate concession stands.

    Adequate seating.

    Adequate parking.

    Adequate bathroom facilities.

    Adequate PA system.

From what I understand from more than one of my X friends, many of the above were sorely lacking last Friday night. If Male wants to host the game, are they up to running it in a proper manner?

I was at the game last week and had no problem and I didn't hear any complaints from other X fans.

There were plenty of Sheriff deputies and police.

My Nachos were hot and fresh.

    My Coke was cold.

The lines moved well with numerous workers filling orders.

I found a seat..although on the Male side.

I parked in Male's front lot.

I did not pee my pants waiting for the urinal..and I went at halftime.

    The PA was loud.

My only complaint was with Male's hospitality....they did not treat the Tigers very well on the field...or the scoreboard....:D

  10. Xman85, You are absolutely right! It's not fair to chastise the posters with class on this board for the posts and statements of those who lack class. Those you mentioned above are all class acts. Not only do they support Trinity, but have repeatedly and publicly been in support of St. X, Holy Cross and De Sales on this board. I know it’s hard for some to accept, but there is enough room in Kentucky High School Football for, two, top notch, 4A, soon to be 6A, private school programs.

It’s JMO, but, if you have to try to make your program look better by downgrading your competition, it speaks very poorly of you as an individual, not the program you are trying to make look better. Some people might be naive enough to buy in to what you are selling, rather than looking at the program itself and allowing it to stand on its own merit; but not me.

Fortunately, because of my life long dedication to the Catholic Church, I know what foundation Trinity was built on. What is stated on the Trinity web site sums it up, “To provide students with a superior high school education in a supportive atmosphere based upon Christian values in the Catholic tradition.” Someone please explain to me how the posts and statements of posters on this board, NOT mentioned above, and you know who you are, fulfill this statement.

It’s probably because I graduated from another one of our other all male Catholic High Schools other than X or T, but I have always said to all my Trinity friends that I will root for you, until you play St. X, because my son plays for St. X. If he played for Trinity it would be the other way around.

Bottom Line: It should be both of our missions to be as good as we can be to attract as many kids as possible to our respective programs. We all need to be ambassadors; not lambasters. Treat others the way you want to be treated!

    GO ROCKS!

  11. The JV class moving up had an undefeated Freshman year with their defense scoring around 40 points that year. They lost a couple of great players to the varsity team this year and that held them back some....as X does not play varsity sophmores or Juniors on their JV teams.

I look for X to be a very tough defensive team with some great skill players returning...Duece, Simmons, Zoeller, and DJ Hall.

The new football stadium is due to be ready in the early spring...so there is much excitement in the X camp for next year.

I forgot to add that next year's senior class was also undefeated as Freshman....so X will have two undefeated classes (when they were Freshmen) together next year.....

  13. If Male played a different Defense...I think they would be a 3 td favorite in this game.....but they don't and I think that could do them in. Trinity's offense is not going to be stopped by man coverage.

Trinity should run a no-huddle offense to hurry the fatigue. If you look at both X games...Male was dominate in the 1st half but only scored 1 TD in the 2nd half in both games combined.(and 1 in OT) They looked tired in both. The no-huddle would hurry that process along.

I think T will win it in the 2nd half.....unless Male just Rocks the 1st half by more points than T can recover.

Look for Male to run a couple double pass plays in this game.

  14. I would think good Catholics would pull for other good Catholics.

I'll be pulling for T but not because of the Catholic/Public debate but because some of the kids on T's team played grade school ball with my kids. Its a personal interest..I like those kids..

...although if it weren't for the classy T fans on BGP like RP, TD, and RockMOM...some of the other T posters would make you want to pull against them.....

But those guys do not represent the true nature of Trinity. Trinity is a fine classy place that RP, TD, and RM represent very well. There are bad apples everywhere.

  15. Male hasn't dominated X like this since Michael Bush wore the purple and gold. The game started similarly to the one in October, but the Bulldogs didn't let the Tigers off the mat this time. It was 20-0 at the end of the 1st quarter and up to that point, I think Male had only thrown the ball one time (a screen pass to Josh Williams that went for 16 yards). Beaumont and Hobbs were breaking off yardage in big chunks and Gainey didn't get chased backward by the X defense as he did in the 2nd half of the first game. Male's defense layed several big hits and played very well against the X passing attack (although there were quite a few overthrown passes and drops early). I would guess they broke up 6-10 passes tonight and hit the QB several times, too.

No pass interference calls or substitution infractions, though :D

This game will be on Insight channel 2 Saturday night at 7:30pm for those who want to watch it.

    :thumb:

X had several dropped TD passes (I counted 4) and several TD and 1st down passes knocked down by Male DBs (a bunch). X had their shots at the endzone and came away with nothing. Male's D was very fast and played very well. Beaumont layed one heck of hit on a pass completion across the middle.

Male QB was again a major problem for X...although I agree with H that it didn't happen nearly as much as last game. Example: I watched on one play as the X D-Line chased him backwards for about 25 yards....He was about at the 8 yard line on the Male side...He somehow eluded 4 X defenders and then completed a long pass down the sideline for about 40 yards. I still believe that Gainey hurt X more than Beaumont. (not saying Beaumont wasn't stellar...he was)

Congratulations Bulldogs...You played great and earned the win..again :irked:
