  1. What business doesn't try to do this?

Thank you. I understand that some people have sentimental value in Mom n' Pop shops. But we aren't in the 50's. I don't understand people who just tear apart Wal-Mart for the sake of tearing apart Wal-Mart. Is it convenient to other smaller stores when Wal-Mart rolls into town? Absolutely not. However, the Waltons are in the same business as Mr. and Mrs. Johnson down the street with a corner store: making money.

I know Wal-Mart has their flaws and some things they do may be questionable. However, they truly are an amazing business in my opinion.

  2. It doesn't take much basketball knowledge to realize UK needs a big time scorer to fill the void of Bradley and Crawford. I think Miller will have a very productive career at UK, but it is very clear he's not a big time pure scoring wing. To say he fills that role better than Hopson would is being a homer. Plain and simple...

I totally agree with your first sentence, couldn't agree more. I don't know enough about either player to pass judgement, so I'll leave that to whoever else. I'll still stick to my original comment in this thread though. Here's to Darius Miller and his career as a Wildcat...

  3. If you're referring to me, I have no bias. I have no dog in this fight, I wish UK could've gotten both of them...who wouldn't. If you're referring to people who think Miller is a better player than Liggins, that's a legit argument whether you're from Mason County or not. It's not like we're comparing a walk-on and a 5-star here.

Obviously I meant Hopson, not Liggins. My mistake.

  4. I say its amazing how biased some people are. Simply amazing.

  5. It will be on Sunday August 31st, at 3:30 pm.....it will be on one of the ESPN family channels.

I want to thank Mitch Barnhart, and the University of Kentucky for ruining a primetime spot, and for the thousands that will suffer in August heat.

  6. The bottom line is that if you buy something from a scalper, you're taking a risk. Not being able to be refunded in the case of an extraordinary event is one of those risks. Someone buying tickets from a scalper is not a customer of the SEC (or any SEC school) therefore, it's not the SEC's responsibility to refund them.

  7.

Now if those individuals sold them at scalper's prices, how is the SEC out the money? True they didn't get all the value that the possible could but how are they out their original price??????

The SEC already made the buck. Now they are banking on taking less of a loss than they might have to by coming up with a set of rules that act like a company not wanting to "pony up" what they should for a product they didn't deliver.

How hard would it have been to ask for the original tickets to be mailed in and refund given? The people who bought them (doesn't matter who) would then be entitled to refund for a product they purchased but did not receive.

I mean it's not the SEC's fault that a tornado blew through. But they have to replace the product (tourney) or refund the purchase price. It's like they shipped us something and the plane went down. The product is lost but you either replace it (in this case you can't) or you refund it to the ticket holder of a lost product. How hard can or should it be.

In regards to your first paragraph, I never asked a question about that or mentioned anything about the SEC being out money.

Second: The SEC is "ponying up" and they're ready and willing to take the loss for anyone who complies with rules that seem to be pretty simple to me if the tickets were purchased from the primary market.

Your last paragraph: The SEC IS refunding for the PART of the product that wasn't delivered.

  8. THE SEC IS A BUNCH OF DIRTY PEOPLE, AND IDIOTS.

The scalpers don't have the tickets that they need to send back. The people that bought the tickets from scalpers didn't buy them from the SEC. So neither people can get a refund for their tickets. DIRTY.

If I may interrupt your temper tantrum for just a minute...

The SEC isn't (nor should they be) inclined to provide this service to someone trying to make a buck off of them. They're refunding revenue that they didn't earn to those who can follow the simple procedure that has been laid out.

  9. I have been looking into getting season tickets to football this coming year. What is the process for me?

Also, I believe bball tickets are probably beyond my means, but how are things for that as well?

Football- Call the ticket office, ask to be placed on the mailing list for info on becoming a season ticket holder.

Basketball- Have a ton of money or send a postcard to the ticket office to be placed in the basketball season ticket lottery. The lottery is held every year around September or October and is for 2 upper level seats that are yours until you want to give them up.

  10. Alot of people don't realize how much a "full scholarship" can cover. For instance, a Division I athlete that I know lives in an off-campus apartment (covered by the athletic scholarship_ that is at least $600 a month for rent ...which is alot more than most off-campus residences. And I'm sure that's just one of the many perks. It pays to be talented.

  11. I honestly think that it is free to get in. Not 100% sure, but if I remember my former high school coach took his team down to the Vandy game last year and I believe they didn't pay to get in.

Tickets are $5 and can be bought at the game. You can't buy a reserved seat at the gate (they're all sold as season tickets) but the GA seats are still good seats.

  12. It is rumored that Georgia and several of the other SEC school officials are considering a formal complaint against the unfair advantage UK will have today in number of fans attending the game at Georgia Tech. They claim that when it was announced that only players, coaches, media, ect are being allowed in that they failed to take into account that everyone from Kentucky is kin.

    Bravo!
