Top ranked X gets a chance to play everyone. The Bears visit the Tiger's den for the first time Thursday night, but the talent disparity is too great to upset an X team that could still be basking in last Friday's glory. St. X 41-10.

St. X vs. Butler - Who wins, by how much, and why?
-
WOW! I didn't know he had the umbrella open. That is truly classless.
I've got those images saved for future use...
This an instance upon which we disagree, my dear friend. "Truly classless" could be when a coach looses a family member in death scant hours before a state title game, and although racked with grief coaches his team in an upset loss and then a "fans" from the winning side start rumors the next day taunting about whether the loosing school is going to fire the grieving coach.. "Truly classless" could be when a coach of any school over the years runs up the score on hapless opponents by keeping the first string in long after the game is decided. This was just a little a little umbrella on the field joke, hardly rising to the "Truly classless" level evidenced in the two examples above.
For the record, I did not care for the umbrella or the broom props. But there are some on this board who never miss the opportunity to make harsh personal attacks on this man. Perhaps fans at both schools should take an moment to recognize that Coach Glaser and Coach Beatty are human. They make coaching mistakes on occasion as well as mistakes in personal deportment. That said, let he who is without sin cast the first stone. X fans who know Coach Glaser, and T fans with Coach Beatty, cite innumerable examples of each man's decency with and for the kids they each coach.
On some occasions, after an unexpected or difficult defeat, it is easy to have the hurt and disappointment turn to misplaced anger toward a person or an institution. We all do this. But let us not, X and T fans, mar what has thus far, during the week of a heated rivalry, been an relatively civil discourse.
-
Congratulations to both squads. Stating the obvious, X achieved a win under a lot of adversity, playing the second half and a portion of the first with a backup QB. T did shoot themselves in the foot all night with a variety of penalties. Both teams should meet again.
Glaser and Beatty have been lambasted here for speaking what each believed to be true: Glaser that X has to rougher path to the finals (Male and a dangerous Manual), and Beatty that Louisville X did not have the best defense Trinity has faced.
Several have tendered areas of improvement for Trinity. How and where can X improve for the anticipated rematch?
SHAMROCK69 and I agree: Coach, leave the brooms and umbrellas home next time.
-
Good luck to both teams tonight. Let us also hope for no injuries. Finally, posters and fans, let us try to behave tonight with the dignity and class that the young men on both teams exhibit.
-
Glaser will say next season, that their going to open it up a bit more
We have heard that before.
-
Thanks. A lot of useful and interesting info. X and T can concede the most points scored in one game crown to the Bulldogs.
-
X is 2 for 2 thus far, winning both games pretty handily (JV wasn't as close as the score indicated). Can they get out the brooms Friday night?
Well...my take on all this broom business between the schools is that it's not a sweep until the final playoff game between the two. Would it really surprise anyone if these two meet later on the playoff trail?
-
^ It's still rediculous looking......
Made more so when fans show up disguised as empty seats!

You mean a Trinity and St.X matter.
Let us settle this as gentlemen should: Alphabetical order!
On a more specific matter-X had terrible problems long snapping on punts last week against Manual. Will those problems be rectified by Friday? Thoughts?
-
CentreRocks, in answer to your question of "How would you rank your five opponents thus far?" my list is:
1. Manual
2. Male
3. Ballard and Lex Cath (tie)
5. Oldham County
Manual could surprise all of us this year.
"I'm picking X for no other good reason than that's where my loyalty lies." "That's as good a reason as any in this game." A first on this board: Diogenes, PepRock01, RunFirst and Park1221 all agree on a St. X and Trinity matter.

You may not be from Kentucky but you hit this one well! Trinity is not my school, but I would venture that the greatest Rock running back was Alan Hennessy, first team All-State in 1968.
-
Who are some of the standout players thusfar on each team, and what position do they play?
-
Who wins, how much, why?
-
The Tigers were really hitting hard. St.X seemed to play faster to the ball. Special congrats to Will Lawson. The kid can really hit.
Yes, yes and yes. The Tigers really laid some hits on the Rocks, and seemed to be the more physical team. Despite the blows, Rock receivers hung in and continued making big receptions. It is difficult, if not near impossible, to intimidate the Rocks. Nevertheless, the Tigers tried.
As to Will Lawson, what a headhunter!

The X d-line appeared to be running out of gas at the end. They had done a nice job pressuring the T qb most of the game. When he had time, he seemed to have a nice arm with good velocity. Nice job Tigers.
That is eXactly as I saw it. Welcome to BGP, tylandrew.

That's not how the game went...yes we fumbled but it was a run play with Donovan Sims....X recovered, then scored 2 TD's with Rahyven Smith...
This morning's CJ quoted from a national high school poll (Rivals?) placing Trinity thirtysomething and X fortysomething. Trinity has gained the edge in the Litratings, but it is close. A statewide poll, also cited in this morning's CJ, has X 1st and T 2nd.
-
X jumped to a 20-0 lead until under 3 minutes. Trinity, passing most plays, drove and scored. On the next possession, X fumbled, and Trinity struck with a long pass to close out the scoring.
Were both teams undefeated?

The National Anthem was the most thrilling I have ever heard. A display of class by everyone at the game. It was spontaneous, heartfelt, and rousing. Props to the entire crowd, but especially Manual, because I think that is where it began. The young lady had a wonderful voice, and the faulty PA was overcome by the display of grace and patriotism of the crowd.
Good game Manual. Hope to meet again on the playoff trail. :thumb:

Diogenes, My hope is that the Rams fans don't have to wait until next year!
(i.e. When the Tigers come way victorious Friday night, they will have won the district and home field advantage this year)
You are a perceptive guy, BirdieCat. :thumb:

Last time I heard that word it was used by Homer Simpson in the first Treehouse of Horror... why did I bring that up? I don't know.
Let's have an injury-free game tomorrow for both teams, and come on Rams, let's get that much-wanted (and NEEDED for the proper R-E-S-P-E-C-T) victory against the Tigers!!!!
Injury free-agreed. Need for respect- I think you would be surprised at the respect many X fans have for Manual- and not just in football. :thumb:

Trinity has a certain foe up next, and it is only human nature to have one eye on the big game ahead. Tenth ranked Litkenhous Ratings Eastern hooks up with two time defending state champion and second ranked Litkenhous Ratings Trinity. Despite the distraction of next week, Rocks roll in this one 36-10, and it is on to next week.
-
This could be an intriguing game. X has overcome a number of early season injuries and the defense seems to be at peak performance. The running game and kicking are up to standards X has come to expect. There are, however, issues that remain. The passing game has yet to assert itself, due to inaccurate throws and dropped passes. This may prove to haunt the Tigers against top flight teams like Manual (picked to win district by the CJ) and Trinity. The unbeaten, fourth ranked in the Litkenhous Ratings Rams look to unleash a powerful running game against X. Could the Tigers be peeking ahead to their engagement with second ranked Litkenhous Ratings archrival Trinity? Could they be unfocused after a steller outing against sixth ranked Litkenhous Ratings rival Male? Will a murderous schedule take a toll on the Tigers? All these factors, to some extent, will be present Friday night. I see X in a hard fought 28-17 victory.

Yes, a great deal of excitement and nostalgia. It was "home" for over 40 years. Hopefully Rams fans can attend next year's game at X and find the Tiger's den up to par, if not in size and history, at least in appearance and amenities. And, as to Checks, I predict that among all the X fans, one or two adult beverages will be quaffed there. :D

Real easy to say that with more players and coaching resources than any other program in the state. I suggest you go coach at a public school and then tell me that it is just as easy to run a J.V. and Freshman program the way X and T do.
Is it the public school aspect, or is it the size of enrollment aspect. I would opt for the latter. Examples: Frosh and JV teams at Holy Cross and DeSales.

Trinity hits the comeback trail with a vengeance. Although at Ballard, against a good Bruin squad, the Rocks win going away. Make it 42-14 Trinity.
