  1. I have always heard from many different people acrossed the state that the BBA (10th and 11th Region official association) was the best in the state. Well, if that is the case this season then we should let the coaches call the state tournament because I have yet to watch a game, boys or girls, where I would say it was a good officiated game. I watched two guys tonight who I feel should be arrested for impersonating a referee.

I witnessed a game a few weeks ago where a referee told the shooter 2 shots when it was a 1 and 1.. Shooter misses the defensive team rebounds and has a 3 on 1 Fast break and he blows the whistle to stop the break (Mind you the game was in the 4th with seconds remaining... Defensive team down 1 or 2). The team that got the rebound then has to take it out and go length of floor.. Dont penalize the players because the refs dont have their head in the game..

    What does everyone else think?

You asked what everyone else thinks, so I think that you should stay "behind bars", as your location states, and keep your awful opinions to yourself! At the very least, be a little bit more objective!

That would also be very appropriate for some of the comments in the "Girls Basketball" forum and the thread about officiating there.

  2. I heard about his comments over the weekend. After seeing your post, I did a search and here are some links that I found.

He must have made the statement on either Friday the 10th or Saturday the 11th.

Just for the record, I don't agree with his comments.

  3. I was just looking through some of the forums and while I am not an "expert" on this topic, I do know that the Ashland Invitational Tournament used a combination of local officials and officials from other associations for the tournament during Coach Flynn's tenure.

The Christmas tournament at Lexington Catholic is officiated by the local association. I think the same association also works the Berea tournament.

With a few exceptions, I think most of the schools that host a tournament use the same officials that work the regular season games.

    Strike3 makes a good point. I'm sure it's a difficult task.

  4. Great news and I hope that it is true, I just want solid proof like a pic of his dead body plastered all over the world! I hate to be that cold about another human being, but then again is this maniac human  I also agree that if it is true that it will be a much needed and huge moral boost to our troops that are over there laying it all out for our freedom. Please pray for these guys and gals. They are the true heroes!!

Excellent post, but I also agree that there will be someone else to step into his shoes if he really is dead or passes away soon.

  5. If parents would support coaches and their programs instead complaining about their child's playing time and blaming coaches for every loss, high school athletics would be better off. I guess it is simply a reflection of the individualistic selfish society we live in.

I missed this post when this thread was more active.

You said it best "Fan"! It is truly a shame when parents are trying to live vicariously through their children and don't know when to keep their nose and opinions to themselves!

  6. Roll your eyes all you want, but I'm just reporting what I was told by a very reliable source. I believe the "rule" is after one "T" on the bench, the coaches can't get out of their seat again, or something to that effect.

I recently had it explained to me and I will try to repeat it as best as I can.

The head coach is responsible for everyone on his or her bench. If someone on the bench gets a technical foul called on them, then it is an "indirect technical foul" on the coach and he or she has to remain seated for the rest of the game except for certain situations.

If a coach gets 3 indirect technicals, then that coach is ejected from the game.

If the coach gets 2 "direct" technicals, the coach is also ejected from the game.

The way I understand it, he or she could get combinations before being ejected (1 direct, 2 indirect; 2 direct; 3 indirect).

If I am wrong, please feel free to correct me. I'm trying to repeat what I was told.

  7. I take it not many women are on here. But thanks for all the welcomes :D

Here's another welcome from a female on here. No, there aren't too many of us, but the male population treats us very kindly, for the most part.

Take care and enjoy Bluegrass Preps!
