Good to see the Royals win. Great gesture with Coach Wells and Coach Starns shaking hands with the Mason Co team before the game.
-
That's what I'd like to know. Why is this allowed to happen every year. Is it the voting of several of the small schools that have no chance to make it to Rupp?
I've never understood why Mason hosts the regional tournament every year. It appears to be a definate advantage for the Royals.
Because just like everything else today it all comes down to money, and the fieldhouse provides the most seating at 5.00 a head. Pendelton county could not handle a good freshman tournament crowd, lets get real Maysville is the only location for the tournment. Also Henry county always used to hold their region tournment until the re-alinement.

He should look at Bruce Pearl! It worked for Lofton.
-
Starns just wins and he will win tonight ,experince in coaching in the big game will be the difference. He has total control of his team.
-
10th Clark big over the young guys from Mason.
-
Student did a good job, I was not saying otherwise. Maybe Brossat should of chose to sit on the other side.
It is the team at the top of the brackets choice which bench to have when playing Mason, but just like a few years ago ,when Salesman thought it would hurt Mason in the finals of the region he got beat 30 ,I hope Hump. is not that stupid.

Just making a guess like everyone else does is that a problem.I wonder what Brossart ever did to this guy - never a word of encouragement:mad: -
Mason comes to play in this one and wins 60-48.
-
Mason will beat Brossart by double digits.

The 10th is always at Mason, the 8th is always at Henry Co and the 1st is always at Marshall I think.I think some regions around the state stay at the same place every year- isnt the 10th always at the Fieldhouse and the 8th is always at the same place- but I like what the 9th does, rotating between the three biggest venues each year. -
Where should regional tournaments be held? Should schools be able to play on their home court and have the so-called "home court advantage." Give us your thoughts.
-
Mason by double digits and in 10 years you will be saying Mason cruises to their 16th straight district title.
-
Moving the 10th region tourney would be crazy. The first point you have to make is location. What gym is as centrally located? Second you have to look at seating. The last time the region was held at Clark not everyone got in the gym. This region is very spread out and Mason has the best venue. Maybe someone could look at letting district winners host first round games since attendance is not always as good but when the semi finals and finals roll around the fieldhouse is packed and few regional tournaments have a better atmosphere. For once I say I have to agree with mhighfield and sumoroyal on this issue (did I say that haha). The people from NKY don't want to travel 2 hours to go to a gym where they may not even get a seat. Mason and the city of Maysville always do a great job hosting the 10th region tournament whoever wins. I don't see other regions complain when the regional tournament is held at the same place year in year out. The 10th regions best option is to stay at Mason Co.

This was a nice win tonight over a decent team from Ohio. Keep up the good work boys. Ripley has two good guards but a couple of turnovers at the end of the ballgame cost them. Good win boys lets keep it up. Small crowd tonight but they will pick up at tourney time.
-
They still have to play the games their not good enough to just walk into the gym and win a ballgame.I meant when they were 7th and 8th graders. Nobody said anything about which class is better. -
I don't think Pure Shooter is all they have to do is show up. They are a good group but I think the soph group with Miller is alot better than the freshman group with Middleton. No matter how good you may think these kids are they are never good enough to just show up and win.Brian Littleton should get most of the credit. He coached this group of kids since the 4th grade at the AAU level. As 11 yr olds they were state runnerup and have played in 3 National tourneys in Florida. Coach Tolle didn't have to hard of a task of coaching these young men in the 7th and 8th grade. Especially when the conference they played in was very weak, all they had to do was show up. -
This group had a great coach in Rodney Tolle when they were in 8th grade. He also coached the group of sophs. He did a great job getting them ready for the next level. He used to beat our Fleming bunch pretty bad. This should be another feather in his cap. Great job boys and Coach Tolle.

See guys when you have a question go to a good source. You guys will remember to ask Mustang next time when you have a question on Brossart sports and not go on mhighfields hearsay. Thanks for setting the record straight Mustang. :thumb:Actually Brossart hasn't fared well with the Royals for quite a few years. My records show that this year we lose to the Royals at home - 66-52.
2004-05 Lose 58-44 at Mason County - Regular Season
2003-04 Lose 62-51 at CCMS - Lofton/Pitino Night - Wes Jones went off
2002-03 Lose 69-52 in the MCIT
Lose 58-54 in a Regular Season Game in the Fieldhouse
2001-02 Lose 77-49 in the MCIT
Lose 71-57 in the SyDome in a Regular Season Game.
Lose 89-77 in the Fieldhouse in the 10th Region Tournament
-
I think he played that game. Maybe we should ask Sumoroyal or highfield?
-
I thought so but I wanted to mhighfield to confirm it and he couldn't do that. I thought GG took it to Rhoden.Your right, they beat them on Homecoming when they had G.G. Lofton... -
When Lofton was a senior it was held at CCMS but when he was a soph it was held at Brossart. In 02 Mason only lost 1 game to a region foe and that wasn't to Brossart.
-
I think they won at Brossart Lofton's soph year. :confused:I meant margin i stand corrected,Yeah it was close till the 4th period.Just has always been tough for Mason there in the past.I believe it was the Royals 1st ever win at the Seiter(sp) center. So i would call that a tough place. -
15th is the weakest and 11th could be the strongest.
-
If it is true, which it probably isn't, it could come back to haunt them.

Mason will have a tough spring after the injury in the state tournament to STAR qb Russ Middleton.
