  1. Keep in mind, the Initial Signing period is gone. The Regular Signing period, is as follows: April 15, 2009 - May, 2009

Any player can verbal, at any time but Letter of Intent, will be signed during this time. If Jonathan is not going to sign in the Initial Signing period, than he's evaluating all his options, like other players will do.

  2. Biggest waste, is not the best choice of terminology. He's getting an education, which is first and foremost. With that said, he's not been productive in games during his stay at UK.

Like mentioned before, his injuries have hampered his development and play. Size doesn't always equate to ability and Carter, for whatever reason just didn't develop into an SEC big man.

I'm sure he does all he can in practice, to make others around him better.

  3. Who are some of the players to watch out for this year and where do they play.

  4. On occasion, games will get out of hand. A large scoring margin, is usually indicative of one team being good and the other not. The real question should be, why are teams getting beat this bad, on a consistent basis. If you can't be competitive at all but continually get throttled, playing the game for the sake of playing, doesn't help any student-athletes involved.

The decision to make a Varsity schedule and playing District teams, will result in mis-matches. I'm not for a running clock in Basketball but more of asking why, a team would need a running clock in a majority of games they play.

  5. Strike 3 I guess I still don't understand. If the JUCO changes to a four year school during the players normal last year under a Junior college rules and he wants to transfer to a division 1 school the NCAA says he has to set out a year is that right?
Not that I'm aware, but never heard of this situation.
  6. Most likely the excuses are going to require you and other parents and the staff to do it yourself. I was involved in a program that had the parents essentially build and maintain the field. We even went and got stands from other high schools and brought them over to our place.
Keep in mind if you move Bleachers, from one location to another, than they must comply with current Building Code regulations and requirements.

Simple way, is to have the Title IX group get involved, to see what improvements or additions are needed, to begin and complete a Softball facility.

  7. BG, well said. Getting scouted and drafted, is about ability. If you are JUCO, DIII, DII, D1, NAIA the key is your talent. College Coaches will communicate with professional scouts, if a player has potential.

These same College Coaches, communicate with High School Coaches, to evaluate if a player can play in College. Getting exposure from High School to College, is not easy, unless close proximity to several colleges.

  8. Just trying to get this figured out. If a player attends a JUCO school and then the school turns into a four year school during the players second year does he have to sit out a year if he transfers to another four year school? The player was not aware of the change before he signed.
Being a 4year school, does not equate to Division. Junior Colleges, are accredited differently, than D1 programs. '

Also, scholarships are renewable on a yearly basis. I would recommend, he consult with his adviser, on any educational concerns.

  9. I've heard some things over the past month that lead me to believe this program is turning the corner. While most of it has no direct impact with the product on the field now, it could go a long way down the road.

As long as he's at UC there will be talks about BK moving on. With the help of Cincinnati Bell, P&G and a few others keeping him won't be nearly as hard...

Some like his style and others loathe him, but give Kelly credit for taking the program, up another notch.
  10. I think BK wants to win. If he knows his best chance to get there is at UC he will stay for a long time. There are MAJOR players in funding that are looking to pull money from the Bengals and spend it on UC. Still a work in progress, and a win last night would have been nice. As it is the indoor/outdoor practice fields and Nippert expansion are in their hands when all is said and done...

  11. Paul and his top assistant Jake are fantastic. I do several off season features on how he runs things and I walk away floored every time. Can't wait to cover the pro and junior days over the next few months.

Here's how I know Longo is great at what he does. When the pro scouts show up, he's at worst the second guy they talk to. Usually the first, but some want to talk to BK first...

He's impressive, as are Coach Cleary and Coach Meador. I know a young man, who is very interested in playing for them.

Do you think Kelly, stays here for a while or looks to move on?
