  1. As he should be. It's a year to year job and those caught up in the past missed watching guys like Durant, Oden, Green, Brooks, Law and so on...

Thats what I'm saying. Will he be talking about Ohio State next year the way he is this year? I don't think so, they are all going pro or should be. It just makes me mad sometimes about how they talk about schools. Kentucky is still one of the best jobs in the nation. Just like Duke or NC. When KY makes it to another title game just check out the SI cover.

  2. The way I see it Big Bill just does does his job the best he knows how. He has opinions just like the rest of us. Does he know basketball more than the rest of us? NO. He just knows more people. If Kentucky returns to the final four in a couple of years you will hear him say what a great job the KY coach has. These people just try to talk about the current year. He will be on the KY bandwagon the next time the Big Blue are playing for a national title.

  3. Believe me, Billy Donovan coming to Kentucky makes more sense than Rick Pitino, in my opinion. I have told it will be Pitino.

Remember, Florida with all key players back from a National Championship team rarely sold out the O'Connell Center which seats about 12,500. They brought one thousand with them to the SEC tournament. They had about 500 follow them during their first two NCAA games.

It just isn't Kentucky and that is why I would think Billy would be most interested. But........Rick (his mentor) wants the job!

Rick said today he was not going anywhere.

  4. Remember in the 70's when the fans were hot on Hall's case and the rumor was Al McGuire was buying a house in Lexington?

I'm with you, I think everybody needs to stop with the rumors and just wait to see what happens. Everybody seems to have there own "source" that says a coach is coming here. If that was the case then Billy D will be the head coach and Coach Izzo, Coach K, and Rick would be on his bench.

  5. I was too young to remember my first UK game, but I do remember that taking the 4.5 hour trip from Pike County to Lexington as being a ritual about 3 weekends a year.

One of my first memories of UK basketball is after a game staying and seeing my dad and grandfather stand up and singing "My Old Kentucky Home"

UK basketball made the biggest impression on me in 1992, I was 13 and had watched John Pelphrey, Deron Feldhaus and Richie Farmer, boys from Eastern Kentucky, lead UK to within one shot of the Final Four.

Then in 1996 I watched a roster that consisted of 4 boys from Ky., 1 From WV, and 3 from TN., mixed with Walker, Sheppard, Pope, Turner, and McCarty win a NC.

In 1997 I watched a roster that consisted of 4 boys from Ky., 1 From WV, and 2 from TN., mixed with Edward, Turner, Mohammed, and Magloire lose in the title game.

In 1998 I watched 2 kids from Ky, 1 becoming an All-American, the other working his butt off to become a sharp-shooter, help lead UK to a NC.

All those teams was fun to watch, they pressed, shot the 3, and and played with a huge amount of pride. I could relate to guys, I was John Pelphrey and my brother was Richie Farmer on our court. Jamal Mashburn was the answer to every UK fans prayers, Turner was the almost perfect PG, Heshimu Evans is one of my all-time favorites, and in high school I wanted a tattoo like Ron Mercer. Later on I watched as my younger cousins were Padgett and Mills.

I wanted to be Jeff Sheppard, cause I would be able to ball and the ladies would love.

    Now-

I don't see kids in Jr. High want to be any UK player

I see kids from Paintsville and Mason Co. go to Marshall and Tenn., or get ran off

I see my dad want to throw junk at the t.v.

    I see uninspired play.

    I see no pride.

I go to Rupp and I'm bored.

More importantly I can't relate to anyone on the past 5-6 teams.

Very well said! I agree 100% I can remember laying in bed when I was young with a radio up to my ears so my parents would not hear it and get on to me for not being asleep. Now, I still bleed blue through and through, but I only catch 6 or 7 games on TV or radio. The magic just does not seem to be around.
