  1. I was not even going to say anything on this thread but after reading everything you guys had to say on the Bellevue thread i thought i would say something on this thread.

I believe there is a song where the lyrics go, "you say it best, when you say nothing at all." :thumb: :flame: :D

  2. In the past with all things being equal with the two teams I would give the edge to Beechwood because Yeagle was such a better coach then Schneider. Now that he is gone it will be interesting to see Coach Rash match wits with the NCC staff. Both teams seem to be not quite what they have been in recent years so having seen Beechwood play and knowing NCC lost to HC I give the Tigers a 10 point edge

  3. In the old days we used to hear that a lot from Ludlow fans, but not any other opponents. Havent heard it in recent years though.

I do not know how Russell finished. Unfortunately did not have the opportunity to see them play.

My friend BigZig remembers those old days and he verified for me that they would chant, "Kill the Cakes" and in those days things were pretty even between the 2 schools.

  4. In small schools like Ludlow, Dayton and Bellevue you will see a 4 to 5 yr cycle where they compete for maybe 1 or 2 yrs in a row against the Beechwoods and NCC's but then there is a stretch where they wont. It is the downfall of not having the numbers year in and year out. Bellevue had great teams in late 70's/early 80's....State Final runnerup in 1990... Pretty good teams from 98-2000 behind Nate Berkley and co. ....last year 2005/06with Lincoln Adams and Schmitz..... not sure about Ludlows years, I know in the late 80's they made a nice playoff run ....I know Dayton had a nice stretch in the mid 1990's with Skirvin where they SHOULD have beaten Beechwood and advanced.

Its just a numbers game and like I said.... it isnt going to be there every year.

As far as the future... I hear Bellevue has a very good Midgets team...so that is about a 6 yr away plan if you are thinking about how they may compete.

Glad to hear that Bellevues Midgets are doing well. Ludlows Midget team is currently 5-0 and seem to be a very talented bunch.

  5. Who will be in HC's 2A district next year? I keep hearing how they won't be able to compete. NCC will always be tough, Newport will be good as well, but Lloyd looks to be moving in the wrong direction, and those are the only teams I know. HC has beaten NCC this year and beat Newport on all 3 levels (varsity was just a scrimmage) . They are not NCC or Beechwood their program is only 8 years old those are urealistic goals for a program with such a short life. With that, they certainly look like they are moving in that direction, their entire program's record at this point is 13-2. As for contender or pretender time will only tell, but it doesn't look like they are going to get run over by any one in NKY 1A this year.

:thumb: Exactly, this year..and they should enjoy it for now. Worry about 2A next year..

  6. Beechwood beat Holy Cross in the finals of the Cake Classic. Highlands and Campbell County tied for 3rd place. Great tournament.

Its called the Cake Classic because Highlands (and Fort Thomas in general) are lovingly referred to as "cake eaters" so several years ago the Cake Classic was started. Along with the trophy, the winning team receives a cake.

I would agree with your explanation of "Cake eaters" with the exception of your reference as being "Lovingly referred to". You could include the teams from Ft Mitchell as Cake eaters as well and they are anything but loved by their opponents.

Congrats to Coach Long and the Tigers..Nice win..

  7. it does sound as if the 1a championship will run thru titletown this year, but you can never count out the beechies or more recently, the thoroughbreds. It would be interesting to add another nky 1a team to the state champ picture. It would get the downstate boys in a uproar over another nky school in perennial contention for a 1a championship. with all that being said, i still think HC is still a few years away from being considered a legit contender year in and year out. i'll go with pretender until proved otherwise!

HC is a far cry from a perennial contender and with their move to 2A next season I doubt they will make very much noise at that level anytime soon.

  8. Holy Cross is this Years Bellevue story from last year. A very good group of Seniors that has beaten NCC already and could very well knock off the Beechies. Neither Beechwood or NCC IMO are at the level that they have been in the past few years and HC looks ready to maybe take advantage of that. With that said I also would not be surprised to see HC fizzle in the playoffs much the same way as Bellevue did last year in the playoffs. Why? Coaching, just not sold on the Koz like so many others. When all is said and done I don't think the Class A State Champion this year is in NKY unfortunately. I believe the team from Danville is far superior this year then any team from other parts of the state.

  9. Did a Bellevue kid steal one of your girlfriends?... you guys are ruthless in your attacks on Bellevue. Give it a rest. All of BGP knows that Future Coach and Deepthreat do not like Bellevue and think Bellevue is a bunch of quitters who have no defense and stink. Now that we all know... lets just move and why don't you all try commenting on something other than a Bellevue thread.

check out the general discussion thread or something.... tell us whats playing on your CD player because I am done with reading both your posts. Take note Guru.

And I guess the last thing I will say is.....its been 17 yrs since I have even been in high school or care about who beats who so don't think I actually lose sleep over any of this.
    Take care.

:creepy: OK there my man, settle down. You're making yourself crazy.:jump: We can really tell none of this is bothering you.

  10. i don't think i would be putting a w in the column just yet in either the Dayton or Bracken game. the tigers have not shown they can beat either one of these two team. Dayton looks like they might be little better than expected this year.

I don't expect Bellevue to beat Dayton this year but if they lose to Bracken Cty then the Bellevue program is back to where it was prior to last year.

  11. Well the better team did win this game. But if they game had been finished last night or didn't have a delay the score probably would have been closer but with Beechwood still winning. Last night Beechwood really couldn't stop Ludlow's offense. But with the delay Beechwood got to make adjustments, and really stopped the run today that was their last night. But the pass was there today to start the game and Ludlows offense was still able to move the ball. But after halftime Beechwood got to make more adjustments and then they shut down the offense in the second half. So with the delay and halftime today gave Beechwood two times to make adjustments and that was the differnce because you cant give a team as good as Beechwood that many chances to make adjustments. Ludlow's defense though however was not able to stop Beechwoods offense at all, because all Beechwood did was run the ball but they couldn't stop it. So even if they game did get played last night with no delays Beechwood still would have won but the score might have been a little closer than this score. I know though if they do see each other again in the playoffs the offense of Ludow will have some confidence now because they did show in the first that they could move the ball. The defense though would have to step up to have a chance.

Good win by Beechwood, and good luck next week againt NCC. I look for Ludlow to get back on track next week against Bracken!

Good time for the Panthers to face Bracken. Several players with some nagging injuries that could use a little extra time to heal.

  12. Wow 30 points in the first half alone, where is that great defense we heard Bellevue had??? To be honest though Holy Cross has a good offense and I knew Bellevue probably would have problems with it because they dont have that much of a pass defense, and Holy Cross is just bigger so they were able to run too.

Good win by Holy Cross though, and hopefully Bellevue can get it together here soon. They still have a chance to manage atleast two wins in the district this year if they can beat Dayton and Bracken.

They will beat Bracken of course but will get beat by the Greendevils.

  13. Is that the message the Bellevue faithful wants to teach their kids? If you are losing just quit?

I didn't think Bellevue was going to win this game, and I thought HC would win by at least 3-4 TD's. But the Tigers are not going to get better by packing it up.

In years past under different leadership the Tigers have shut it down after a few early in the season loses. For whatever reason they tend to shut it down after a lose to Ludlow especially which has happened 3 of the last 4 years.

Hopefully under Coach Eckstein they can get their season turned around and at least salvage some sort of respectability.
