  1. Mayfield is the #2 team no matter what anyones opinion is. Mayfield had a bad game as they did in the Critt game which they won 31-28 after a 42-7 victory earlier. They beat 2 state champs from 2 states. To say Hazard is the #2 team is ridiculous. They may have played LCA close but they did not win and they had 5 loss's without a signature win. Maybe LCA didn't play to their full capabilities in that game. To many here vote for teams in their region instead of looking at the whole body of work which Ram you are doing in this case. One game good or bad doesn't make a season. And Mayfield's season was much better than Hazards.

I say your wrong on this reason Hazard was playing there best at the end in the playoffs losing to LCA 34-28 was no fluke they where the real deal. Mayfield of the other hand may of had a off night, and most say that after a total beat down 55-19. I hate to say it but Hazard was playing better at the end of the year and Mayfield was not, if there where a game for second place Hazard would have beat Mayfield by two or more scores at the end of the year when it matters the most. Sorry Mayfield fans but Hazard played it best when it matter most in the post season against the best in LCA.

  2. Highlands may not be the best in the state, some go as far as even saying the speed that the Falcons of Fort Campbell has is the the topp's in the state. Highlands biggest competition for the best team in the state may not be form X or T, but Fort Campbell. I really think that it would be a great game between two great powers.

  4. I am going to through out the records and how great the program is or what they did last year out the window. This is all about how good the team was playing at the end of the year and how tough the schedule was for them to get there. Now rank them off the state champs this year, because they are the best because they won it all and they are the best by far. Don't get caught up in to, yea they where good but we beat them last year and we would have this year, that my friend is a silly agument and makes no sence. Let's rank them and then tell all of us on this thread why or why not and be critical, have fun, Let's hear it.

    My mistake,

    Paintsville Assistant Coach

    '04 6-5

He was challenging to his young men and made them better, that is the true test of a great Coach.

  6. Now, now....great win by LCA. They are clearly the best team in 1A this year and I have been saying it all year. But this is a good example of a game that was more competitive than the score shows. The turnovers got Mayfield in a hole they could not dig their way out of. Then they were just out of synch and LCA did not let their foot off the pedal. Great win for LCA but I am not going to say total domination in a game that was very close till the last couple of minutes of the first half.

It may have been Mayfield a repected program and a power in class A, but be it Highlands or Nicholas Co. when you beat a team 55-19 be it by turnovers or what ever else it is by all means a domination and or blowout. I can understand, hey it was tight and neck and neck in the 4th a few minutes left and for what ever reason the roof fell in and the game looked like a blow out but it was really close, but not it was close until the last few minutes of the first half, I mean you dominat when the foot is on the pedal and the other team{Mayfield} can't stop it, it is what it is by all means a domination. Congrats to LCA on a great year and congrats to Mayfield on a great year. Hey Voice of Reason it problemly is not that big of a deal anyway, it all comes down to wins in a title game both teams have to be great just to get in to this game. There are alot of great players and great Coachs that never get close to this game

  8. December-February

Basketball has been cut short by a week. They did that last year. Non-football schools before 2002 could play before Thanksgiving.

    They can't do that anymore.

Oh I see Basketball got cut short and now you want football season cut short as well, may be football can have 8 or 9 games and just maybe for the awful championship teams they should play 6 to 7 games in the regular season, because we all know they take to much time to win the championship, after all we live in a basketball state.:ohbrother:

  9. This was an excellent ballgame. One that either team could have won. The difference came down to a couple of good breaks for the Colts and a couple of very good -surprise- playcalls.

DeSales put good pressure on Prestonsburg's QB most of the night, yet Burchett still with an excellent game.

The biggest play of game (and there were a lot of them) was the fumble right after halftime. The Blackcats had momentum and were moving the ball with the lead. The Colt rusher knocks the ball from the QB's hand and DeSales recovered.

Good luck to DeSales in Bowling Green next week. You all have a very fundamentally good football team.

It's been a great season for the Blackcats when not too many were sure before the season began it would even be a good one.

A special "Thank you !!" to all the seniors...it was very exciting. You guys brought it every game.

I agree oneijoe 13-1 is one of the best records in P-burg history, great year.:thumb:

  10. Great year for Paducah Tilghman and one of great programs in the state, it is good to see them back in the state championship sence 1992 team did it. I must say this is the first team to finish the regular season with a losing record at 4-6 and make it to the state title game. What a job the coaching staff has done at Paducah Tilghman keeping the kids on message, and yes what a job the kids have done keeping the dream a live, when no one believe in this team. What a story this is what a team, this is why I love high school football in this state. Congats to Paducah Tighman on beating the two time defending state champs.

  11. This will be a close game DeSales is a good team, I have not seen them play, but to make it to the semi's and beening form Louisville this team must be good if not great. I still go with the boys form the country{Prestonsburg}to beat DeSales in a old fashion, who ever has the ball last wins 49-48 track meet. The Blackcats will win this one and get to the state title game for the third time ever.
