  1. I don't believe coaching lost that game. As for this one, I missed the first game between these two, but I agree, WV should win by 10-15. I look for Sartwell to start getting a little more time. He flat out got with it on Friday in the limited time he was given. It will be interesting to see how Hensley plays with his injury.

  2. Walton will struggle in this game. I agree they have looked better the past two games. Even with Blackburn out and Howe at 70-80%, WV can't handle Grant at the guard position. It will take HUGE games from Daugherty, Hensley, and much improved guard play for Walton to pull this one off.

  3. Reggie Hensley hit a shot at the end of regulation to send this game into OT, and then hit one at the buzzer to send it to the 2nd OT. Franklin Daugherty paced the Bearcats with 26 points. I believe O'Toole had 22 and Sutherland 20 for the Rebels. Walton had a 12 point lead at one time that was erased by the three point shooting of Owen County. A very exciting game to watch. This one was up for grabs until the final buzzer, as the Rebels had 2 chances to tie it at the end of the 2nd OT. A gutsy performance by both squads. Hopefully, Walton can carry some momentum from this game into Friday's district matchup at Grant County.

  4. Because they cannot guard anyone MTM. The only way they can stay in game or keep it close is sitting in a zone. Walton's team has no guards. They will not win a game until someone who can dribble the basketball transfers to Walton or "brought up". I'm really starting to wonder how bad of an idea it would be to bring up the 7th grade Sullivan to play. Lynn can't handle it. He can't shoot, he can't dribble. End of story.

See post #1. This would pretty well fit the definition of a drastic change. Honestly, I watched this group play all summer. They are worse now as a team, than they were in May and June. They need to try anything they can, because the guard play can't get any worse.

  5. i believe waltons problem is they have no guards and no real scorers. they have no one to put the ball in the hole. in my opinion Franklin Daugherty needs to get way more touches. He is very athletic and has a well enough shot from the outside to do more than post up. it seems that the coaches are directly worried about the seniors on the team to forget who the real players are... if WV wants to win and have any shot at districts or All "A" Daugherty is going to have to put the ball in the hole, this will create for Hensly and Tungate to get their shots but the bearcat offense needs to run through Daugherty

Other than Daugherty, care to elaborate on who you think the "real players" are. I sure haven't seen anyone even make an attempt to step up this year. Nobody on this team is playing up to their potential, not Daugherty, not Tungate, not Hensley. Unless these three really step it up and take control of the games, they may not win another game this season. They are getting zero help, and it is causing them to try and force shots that aren't there.

  6. A pretty exciting game to watch. I thought WV played awful in the first half, but found themselves down only one at the half, 27-26. GC had built a double digit lead in the first, but WV came back, somehow. As was expected, WV had no answer for Josh Davis. A very nice game out of him. It seemed like WVwas determined to make him beat them, as they stayed packed in a zone for 3 1/2 quarters. Well, he did. I will say that unless Coach Bennet is ready to write this season off, some DRASTIC changes need to be made at the guard position. GC is a well coached, disciplined team. I can see where they could jump up and surprise some people down the road. I'm still scratching my head, trying to figure out how WV was even in this game. GC sure didn't help themselves with the refs, as one played received a "T" for what seemed to be taunting, and one fan was ejected from the premicise. WV actually had a shot to win it at the buzzer, but solid GC defense forced them to take a shot that I am sure was not what they had drawn up. There were some signs of life in WV tonight, they seemed to dominate the glass, but 25-30 turnovers per game just isn't going to cut it at any level.
