  1. Hey everyone, sorry for the lack of updates. I was discharged home again today. This time hopefully for good. Have follow ups Thursday of this week as well as more shortly after but fingers crossed I’m finally on to recovery.

PS: This type of surgery hurts something awful. The soreness and general lack of energy or strength I have in my entire upper body is remarkable.

  2. The hits just keep coming.

Finally released Saturday, spiked a slight fever last night and went to the hospital where a chest CT scan showed fluid in my chest that they weren’t sure if it was infected, just fluid, or some clotted blood. So in a few more hours I’ll be getting cut back open and undergoing surgery #3 in the last ten days. This one is still major as their opening my chest up but much less risky than the other two.

Continued thoughts and prayers would be appreciated. Physically I’m still good, but emotionally and mentally I’m about at the end of my rope.

  3. Bearcats got themselves one heck of a coach. Incredibly sad to see him leave the Norse, but knew it was only a matter of time. Hopefully in another 4-5 years NKU is in this same position. Mid-Major programs losing coaches speaks volumes to the success of their program.

Job well done Coach. Good luck on the other side of the river.

  4. Pending a good result on a blood test being done overnight tonight, I should be discharged tomorrow!!!

Can’t wait to be home, but most importantly, can’t wait to see my little guys!

  5. If Brannen would get the UC job, it will make it very hard for me to continue to dislike them.

Also, wonder who NKU would target? Chris Shumate? Luke Murray? Would they go after a guy like Joel Justus? Or how about David Padgett?

  6. Yesterday was another rough day. Was woken up at 5 am and told I was on no food or liquid because they wanted to do a cath due to me having an episode overnight of consecutive irregular heartbeats. They wanted to check my coronary arteries to make sure they weren’t kinked and causing stoppages in blood flow. If they were, I’d have to be opened up a third time and have it repaired.

Unfortunately the medication I now have to be is an anti clotting medication so they had to get my clotting factor back within normal to do the cath. What they initially thought would be a procedure done around noon, didn’t get done until after 6 pm.

Very long and frustrating day without food or drink, but thankfully the results came back that my coronaries were perfectly clear and all is well.

This morning they came and removed my scar covering and the last of my chest tubes so I’m finally not strapped down to tubing and wiring! Everything seems to be pointing to a discharge this weekend!

  7. More in depth update....Friday was the most terrifying day of my life. The initial surgery went well and I was alert and in the CICU when I started getting nauseous, dizzy and everything going black. Turns out I was having massive internal bleeding, so they had to rush me into emergency surgery early Saturday morning to get that under control, which they were luckily able to do.

  8. So today was my last day of work before surgery. Get to spend all day tomorrow at the hospital doing pre-op tests and prep, then back there early Friday morning for the surgery.

Much calmer and more at ease than I figured I’d be at this point.

Will probably be good until it comes time to leave and say bye to my boys Friday morning. Not sure I’ll be able to keep it together at that point.

  9. First time a team has had multiple first team selections since Kentucky in 2010. Duke also had two in 2006. Interesting thing is that none of those three teams even made the Final Four. Duke was the last to do both, in 2001, when they won with Shane Battier and Jay Williams.

    MKG wasn’t 1st team?

  10. I think GrantNKY is selling Houston short. I knew UK had a fight on their hands and wouldn’t have been shocked if they had lost.

That was an extremely good team. Good enough to win 33 games this year, LSU included in their W’s. Some of your posts makes them sound on about the same level as Ball State.

Correct. He’s acting like neither they or Wofford were any good. Houston was the #9 overall team in the tournament. Shocking they would play a tight game against the #7 team.

  11. Because Auburn is playing at an entirely different level right now than they were either of the two times UK played them. Is that not obvious to you as well? What am I missing here? Auburn is playing the best basketball in the country right now based on what I’ve seen since the conference tourneys started.

Of course they’re playing really well. But no one they’ve played in that span is anywhere close to the defensive team Kentucky is. Defense matters.

  12. I mean what am I supposed to say? I’m not going to tell you, you’re wrong. Now that Virginia is good I have a hard time believing any UVA fan wants Duke to win this thing should UVA lose.

I can tell you with 100% certainty they do. My company is headquartered just outside Charlottesville and I had to listen to them talk about how they were rooting for UNC last year since the UVA was done.
