  1. Games I like tomorrow...

    Northern Illinois

    Florida State

    UCLA

    Marshall

    UTEP

    Akron

Here's a "fun stat" pick....Eastern Michigan +44 vs. LSU. If you had bet AGAINST every Top 12 team this year when they play a team NOT in the Top 20, you would be 28-10, including 15-3 in the last two weeks. Vegas over-values the top teams, especially when playing "lower level" opponents.

  2. That's right ... Clyde knows everything.

You know ... I am not surprised that you would say that you would tell a team that you were coaching to delete pictures in this type of a situation.

And your line of bull saying that would be to protect the kid is the biggest pile of cow dung I have read in a while. Some times you have to be a man and do what is right ... even if you are concerned about the "humiliated" athlete ... those of us who have actually coached in our lives realize that part of the reason for the humiliation is because no one in a position of authority ever put a stop to what was going on.

Clyde ... your self serving arguments really are pathetic. You are trying to protect your buddies ... and you admit that you are "loyal". As a coach ... I am too ... loyal to the kids that I am responsible for.

You on the other hand ... have a history of supporting arguments ... that benefit you and your buddies ... case in point: http://bluegrasspreps.com/ky-football-high/conner-pulled-plug-242391-page2.html#post4475467

I know ... I know .. what does that thread have to do with this? Easy ... you are blindly loyal and apparently have poor judgement in regard to your fellow man. Not to mention ... it proves that you talk out of both sides of your mouth ... and are willing to accuse people of things that you heard as opposed to actually hearing. You care about your opinion ... and your buddies. Pretty sure that link proves that you really don't care if coaches are accused of things ... you only care if your buddies are accused of things.

You were doing a ton better when you were just keeping your mouth shut.

I will close with this ... I haven't accused any coach of anything ... or done anything more than barely touch on this story ... but ... Bullying is a culture of SILENCE. Reading the twitter crap .... the posts here .. people keep saying that this situation is humiliating to the young man in question. Did it ever occur to some of you that he wants it to go away because there are people on the internet and at school ... saying that this is his fault?

Those of you who are in a hurry to bring this situation to a close because it is "humiliating" the young man need to realize that SILENCE is usually a symptom of being treated like crap by someone who is trying (and has been successful) to assert power over you (usually due to ones own set of insecurities).

If you guys want this to go away ... go speak to the young man and let him know that you support him. And QUIT trying to speak for him and talking about how humiliated you think he is.

Assuming the first BOLD part to Clyde means you disagree with him, the second BOLD part would be false, and the third BOLD part would be why Clyde was right in the first place.

  3. I disagree it is a criminal act and they should be held accountable accordingly. My opinion might differ if the kids were extremely apologetic and or received a more serious punishment from the school. But from what I hear ( strictly thru the grapevine) They are not apologetic. And on this thread some are saying the poor kid is still being teased..Nope sorry make an a example of them. Like I said two other times on here today.. This is why kids shoot up schools or hurt themselves and by not acting on it swiftly and strictly, the school is opening the door for this behavior down the road and possibly a more severe tragedy as the result.

So....it's a criminal act but you have no idea what the act was; the "criminal act" should not be punished if they would just apologize; and what you hear is "strictly thru the grapevine"....got it...

  4. NBA teams routinely tank games to get a better lottery pick...

I don't think it happens that much. First, that's why they have a lottery, the worst team rarely gets the #1 pick. Second, I think it's very difficult for a team that's 15-62 to get up for their last 5 games of the year. More human nature than tanking, although I have no idea what the 76ers are doing right now.

  5. One coach receives a two-game suspension to start next season. Likely, the other principle will follow suit. Ridiculous.

    A follow up article:

Here?s why two Tennessee girls? basketball teams both tried to lose - The Washington Post

    This part is unbelievable:

It was tanking that would make even the NBA’s most lottery-hungry teams blush. Smyrna Coach Shawn Middleton pulled his starters early in the game, and Riverdale Coach Cory Barrett followed suit. There was slow play, intentionally missed free throws and balls thrown away on purpose.

And it went beyond the players simply following orders, as they were active participants in all of it. The referee said that one Riverdale player gave him the three-second signal, demanding that she be called for the violation, and that one Smyrna player purposely tried to score in the wrong basket, only to be thwarted when she was whistled for a 10-second violation.

  6. Did you guys that are ok with it watch the videos? You're ok with THAT?

I disagree with the professional sports comparisons. They are doing it to look out for their players. The Spurs are not tanking by resting players on the 2nd game of back-to-backs. The NFL does it when they have clinched playoff spots.

Besides, I think it's a horrible message to send to high school athletes.

  7. I lost all respect for Lance. I was listening to him on the day that the "Lance is Weasel" thread was started on here years ago (maybe someone could dig that up). I didn't think he was very good before that but now I don't even listen to him for a second. Broo is horrible. Mo is the best in town, by far.

As far as announcers, I agree with a lot of you. Marty is heading down hill but I still like him. Hoard just won "Ohio Broadcaster of the Year" if I'm not mistaken--he's really good. You can't call a guy a homer when he is being paid by a team to broadcast their games. He's doing the BENGALS broadcast, not the NFL's, not the other team's, not CBS's. Lap is a joke. The Cowboy is getting better every year. Jim Kelsch is terrible on basketball. Not sure who he works with but the NKU radio broadcasts are unbelievably bad.

  8. Who is your MVP for the 2014 season?

The idea of JJ Watt being MVP has grown on me the last few weeks. No team was better than 12-4 and there were a bunch of 11-5 teams, so no one TEAM stands out (theory of QB on the best team winning it) . Aaron Rogers seems to be the front runner but what can a quarterback do statistically to deserve it--4000 yards and 40 touchdowns are routine now. I wouldn't mind seeing a non-QB win it.

For the record, Watt's final stats:

    20.5 sacks, 78 tackles, 4 forced fumbles, 5 recovered fumbles, 10 passes defended, 1 INT, 2 return TD's, 1 safety, and 3 receiving TD's

  9. Brown and it's not even close. Throw in his punt return ability and it's an even larger gap. Brown is elite, AJ is not.

You can't look at numbers. AJ had 8 catches for 82 yards last night. Meaningless. Just like Dalton. Last game against Pittsburgh he completed 75% of his passes and had 300 yards. Meaningless.

  10. So far...all of them.

They still have Eastern and Columbia. Teams just don't put up 100 points regularly anymore. No matter how good they are.

Yeah, definitely fooled by the pace of the pre-season games. I thought Cal would press and run a little more with the depth. The offensive rebounding was the other factor I thought this would be possible--that part has been true.

Let's be honest, they could have. I read a book a long time ago and it asked (in regards to what type of coach a person was): if you knew you were going to beat an opponent by 30 points, would you rather win 100-70 or 70-40?

Cal would rather win 70-40. He's always had great defensive stats as a coach. Pitino would rather win 100-70--well, he used to, not so sure now.

  11. Looks like they can challenge the record for FG% defense. Per NCAA Website the record (Since 78) is 35.2%. They are currently leading the nation, holding opponents to 27.9%

They are also on pace to break the Post 1965 mark for Opponents PPG which was 47.1, though I doubt they can keep up their current pace of 44.6.

    WOW!

  12. In basketball, the 2 things the committee always talks about is OOC schedule and body of work. They're doing the same thing here. Reminds me of a few years ago when people couldn't figure out how the 3-way tie in the Big 12 worked.
