Do you have any idea how absolutely ridulous you make yourself look when you try to blame one man for every athletic and academic problem that a school has? Does Knott County not have a Superintendent, a school board, principals, teachers, coaches, etc.? Do they not fall under the State Baord of Education and the KHSAA? Or, do you also allege that his polical influence is great that he has control of all of those people also. What possible reason would he, or anyone else have, for not doing everything they can to improve the academics at KCC?

 

Why don't you use this board for what it was meant for, a place for people to get together and talk about basketball? If you have proof that someone, anyone, in your school is doing something wrong or something to hurt the kids, take it to your school board. This is not the place for it.

If you would get your panties out a bunch and read what I said you would realize that I am not blaming any one person for the problems in KNott County, the whole organization needs to be looked at and assessed based on results, not just the AD. This will not happen because everyone wants to get along in Knott County and not make their "friends" mad, no matter if the results are negative as they have been lately or not. Again what I am saying is that if something is not working as in the case of academics/athletics in Knott County, there needs to be some accountability from the people running the show.

I agree. Knott Central has a very nice facility, but, I don't think it is the ideal location for the tourney. I like Next's ideas on this.

The arena in Pikeville is nice but Pikeville really is in BUFU and teams would have to travel long distances to play there. I like Pikeville though, just too far away for many teams to travel more than 1 night at a time IMO.

A more Central location would be good IMO.

Very well said Pat Man. It seems seomeone does not like us good Knott County people. I wonder if jealousy has any part of this.

With all due respect what is there to be jealous of, there are mediocre academics and athletics. I understand that the people that run these things may be good intentioned, but good intentions only get you so far, eventually results have to be looked at and if that is done in Knott County, there will be changes because Knott County, Knott Central inparticular are lagging behind the state in academics(most important), and athletics. So jealousy no, just tired of seeing absolutely no positive results coming from the people in charge.

I would think they would want to draw the 15th region as a first choice, and then the 14th.

None ofl the regions in the mountains are a threat to win the title, there are some good teams, but for the most part this is a down period for basketball as far as "good" teams go. Of coarse, this is just my opinion.

:thumb: Given the way that Leslie performed in a Tourny situation in the WYMT Tourny, I think they will show up to play in the regions, but anyone can beat anyone in this years Disticts and Regionals, makes for entertaining games.

Couple of reasons why they shouldn't use Lee's gym. It's larger floor, and you can't see your hand in front of your face because of the poor lighting.

You are correct in regards to the lighting, it is dark in there.

Like I said, I do not know who made the decisions regarding the Dials boy, and I'm willing to bet that you don't either! What I do know is that applaud who ever did. I missed the KCC game after which the Dials boy was dismissed, but I was at the KCC-Letcher game. The Dials boy should have been dismissed for his conduct at that game. I have been to many games all across the mountain region and have followed high school basketball for years. It's a shame how some of the athletes are being allowed to act. Other schools should follow KCC's lead and start getting rid of some of these players who are unable to show respect for themselves, their schools, the other teams and coaches, the refrees and the game.

During the LCC game the Superintendant and and coaching staff from LCC were being verbally aggressive towards Dials, and he retaliated. Should he have been suspended, yes, but to say that he should be dismissed fro taking up for himself is crazy IMO. As far as getting my story straight, maybe you should take off the blinders and then you may see the truth.

Coach Hall is extremely good but this group isn't as good as advertise. They won in middle school but most have been held back so they were a year older than most other middle school players. And many schools do not even attend the middle school state tourny. They are good but not as good as they have been hyped. Just my opinion!!!

Many were held back, but they were no older than the average 7th or eighth graders in the nation.

My friend, go to college and get your secondary school teaching certificate. That's, by far, the best vehicle to get you where you want to go...

What happens if you are disabled and cannot go back to school and finish a degree?

What happened with Dials?

Athletic Diriector was unhappy with the losing streak and was looking to take it out on someone, so he chose Adam IMO. The AD should have his position assessed because Dials did nothing to deserve the severity of the punishment. It was not the coaches decision, it was the AD's, sad situation in KNott County, the people in power enjoy throwing their weight around and do not care about the kids.

You can't get anyone, at least the parents, to do anything. Talked to a parent last week and said that there are problems, but what can you do? I told them what needs to be done and how to do it. Still, they just didn't seem to care. It's been going on for so long that most deal with it until their kid/s are gone or quit. I've seen quite a few athletes to either sit on the bench or quit that deserve to play. I hope that parents will wake up and get together and do something. Until they do, it's just going to be the same ol' thing year after year.

I am moving out of the county this summer and my other two kids will not go to Knott Central unless something changes in the academic realm, they are lagging at best in that area.

What happened to Dials? Someone made him come back out for the handshake after the loss to Phelps.

This situation is being taken care of as we speak, will he be back before the season is over, who knows, but this situation is not over. This kid walked away because he was upset and came back and shook hands, so he really did nothing wrong IMO. The Phelps players were celebrating in the middle of the court and a handshake would not have been missed anyway.

They would have a better shot at a title IMO, a much better shot.

I agree with you. A lot of teams would have struggled with Powell's defense that night, including Knott Central.

 

Lee only hit three '3s' and they did have too many turnovers, but otherwise an average game.

Sad situation with the Dials kid, KCC is in more trouble now that he is gone, but maybe he will be reinstated before the Tourny's.

It seems if you hit a nerve, someone comes back at you with your spelling or your grammar, and I have read some post that you just had to figure out what they meant. Just because some of the teams that were always on top are not this year doesn't mean that all the mountain teams are weak.

Be careful about saying too much about the "grammar" issue because I got suspended and eventually expelled for saying just about the same thing about reading far worse posts, some people on here have a "power-issue" IMO. I did not curse or anything, all I said is that I have read worse and that got me suspended, there is no wonder that bluegrassrivals.com is picking up steam.

The coaches from JBS, Lee County, or Jackson City should get strong consideration IMO.
