  1. I am not saying that Pike Central should be ranked, but I have to question how Clay Co. and Magoffin Co. can be ranked ahead of them after the Lady Hawks beat both teams in a three day span. It doesn't matter to me one way or the other, but it makes me question the rationale behind the voting.

  2. I was at this game and at no point was it even a contest. Both Jackson and Euton(spell?) were unstoppable tonight. I had heard a lot of hype regarding these two players and was very interested to see if it was true. Well it was and then some in my opinion. These two young men are very, very special. Not only are they talented, they did a great job of leading their team. As I loved the big mans touch and aggressiveness, I don't know the last time I can recall a young guard like Jackson play so effortlessly. Everything he did was just smooth and fun to watch. Great player and great young team. I believe the 16th needs to be ready, this team can definitely contend for a region title!

  3. That is the good thing about this site, we can discuss games all over the state.

That Sheldon Clark win allowed the Hawks to have the highest seed in school history, even with the loss to Magoffin. Coach Hager is a good coach and always has been and Sheldon Clark hiring him made for a smooth transition, since he was already there. Maybe he improved as a coach by 30 points. Keep thinking of those High Hopes, Dreams do come true.

He must have done something because they went from 2-8 the year the Hawks beat them to the number two seed last year and a three-way tie for 1st (so far) this year.

  4. Sheldon Clark. PCC should be able to stay with them since they beat them 2 years ago, and have the best 2 players on that team back?

That's when "the Goat" was coaching the Hawks. Hadn't been for the Magoffin Co. game that year, they may have hosted a playoff game. Also needs to be remembered is that was Coach Hager's 1st year at the helm. It is good to see that this game is so important that the people of Trimble Co. are talking about it.

  5. Yes,I think there is enough talent there to beat Campbellsville. Their offensive scheme is awful, they've scored 53 points all year. 13 against the 1-5 Campbellsville team and 26 (14 after the game was long decided and Corbin had emptied their bench) against Corbin. They're predictable and their linemen have horrible technique--that's coaching. They are short on talent this year but there is enough there that 3-4 shouldn't have been out of the question.

I haven't seen them play, so I can't say anything about technique or talent. I do know this, what ever problems that are hampering the Maroons at this time will get fixed. Maybe not this year, but they will get fixed.

As for their "offensive scheme", what would you like to see them in?

  6. They should have had enough talent to beat a 1-5 Campbellsville team that was just thrashed by Kentucky Country Day 53-28. Instead they were handled easily 32-13 by a bad 1A team.

I didn't ask if they "should" have enough talent. Of course a 3A school SHOULD have enough talent to beat a 1A school. I asked IF they were talented enough to beat those teams.

  7. I don't see any "feel-good" wins or any other kind of wins on this years schedule. The remaining schedule looks like this:

Taylor Co. 4-2 beat Campbellsville 20-14, Campbellsville beat Pulaski 32-13

Boyle Co. 1-4 but played tough in losses to Mercer, Danville and Lafayette

Russell Co. 4-2 lost to Taylor 13-6.

Marion Co. 3-2 beat Campbellsville 28-13

Southwestern 2-3 close loss to Danville, beat Somerset and GRC

I don't see a win in there anywhere. Pulaski's losing streak will probably reach 14 games with a 2 year record of 2-18.

Do you think they are talented enough right now to win any of those games that they have already played?

  8. Poorly played game defensively. The LCC bunch kept bunting and PCC bunch kept kicking and throwing it all over the yard. Tyler Smith got the win in relief and Justin King picked up a 2 1/3 inning save. At the plate, Pike Central had Eric Thompson go 3-for-3, Jeremy Lucas go 3-for-4, and Jarrod Thacker go 2-for-2. Both teams should improve, but it wasn't very pretty in this one.
