This could be a first in history.
A 1-14 State Champion...
I think this only makes the gate larger for the KHSAA by the way.
Now a lot more people will come just to complain one way or the other.
If they won the state game, would the other playoff games be counted as wins? Because the tournament had begun?

I would stand with Dale on his choice to play Mitchell.
Part of what I understand about this case is that he transferred to play more in positions that would garner views from college scouts. This would give him a better chance to get a scholarship to college. That's what his play has earned him this year and if he had sat on the bench who would have seen his talent and offered? Dale did what was right for the kid. :thumb:
I have a hard time believing this kid would have sat on anyone's bench. He is that good. I do agree Dale did the right thing and let him play. (Even if it cost him a state championship.
The question is would Dale have taken the same stand with a true benchwormer?

What a miserable day for 2 high school teams (Boyle and HHS) and a black eye for the entire state. This should be a week of anticipation and excitement and now were faced with a state final that is tainted.
-
They may forfeit all those games, but I would be willing to bet they will take the field this Saturday vs Boyle, with or without Mitchell.
I guess the Mitchells next move would be the Ky Supreme Court?
Will the KHSAA give up the money of the gate to stand by principle? No. I think you are correct Highlands will play, but play w/o Mitchell.

And for the record, I'd say Bell, CovCath, EJ, etc are out of the equation. If they go back one step, they would have to go back to the district matchups, etc, and that is a Pandora's box that can't be opened.
This is going to be between HHS and Boyle or not at all.
(IMO)
Unfortuately, there are no winners if the game is called. Boyle will have a hollow championship.

Somebody wake up Leatherneck for some lawyerly pontification.

If thats the case very bad for all . Highlands , the MItchell kid , Cov Cath and Bell Co.
and Boyle County. They don't need any astericks* in the record books or in people's mind.

I am offended that you would even suggest that. I would never kid around about something like this.
Didn't mean to offend just thought the timing of this ruling was incredible. I was in a state of shock.

Givhan wants to play Mitchell again, see attached article from today.

It's definitely no joke. God I wish it were.
This is ridiculous!! I want Mitchell to play. I think he is the best player on Highlands. It would be a shame for a kid to miss out on this opportunity after playing on season. Once again kids are potentially punished because adults can't agree on the rules. Danville forfieted 2 games because a KHSAA form was ambiguous at best.
-
Guru, this better not be some April Fool's joke. Interesting, will the KHSAA stand by the same principle applied to Danville?
-
For the record the Danville school District does cover the entire city limits of Danville. I live in the City but belong in the County District.
-
Good rule. I think it will eliminate some of the Microsoft messenger language that has crept in the vocabulary of our youth.
I do hope you will be lenient on WYW when he is giving play-by-play, as he did last Friday when Danville played.

By far the toughest class this year. 1-10 are all solid teams. I believe my list would go something like this.
1.boyle
2.Paducah Tilghman
3.highlands
4.Paducah Tilghman
5.hopkinsville
6.lex cath.
7.bell
8.cov cath
9.rockcastle
10.Oldham
Breaking news! Highlands may be losing their best player for the finals!

I understand the ruling and thats apparently how its going to go. But let me be the first to say this an utter crock. So now it's ok to have illegal transfers as long as you dont get caught until the playoffs start.
I believe that is a correct statement.
