  1. This diehard Danville fan has been away from the posting but not the cheering. Danville has struggled with mental toughness the past couple of years. When they get hit or behind they just haven't been able to step up to the challenge. I agree with earlier post as well that the offense has lacked consistency and attitude. Maybe with Harp retiring from teaching duties, he be more focused on play calling.

  2. I have watched Macon over the last 3 years. He is a legit D1 recruit. The kid has all the skills necessary to be a great receiver. He is extremely athletic and is coordinated for his Height. I have seen plenty of talls not coordinated enough to make any catch. His Height is part of the package. What I have questioned is his heart on every play. You can scout him easily. He runs hard when the play is for him and eases up when the play is not directed at him. He tends to to rise up when pressed but not when he is not involved. I think the key is to keep him involved in the offense and don't play him on defense unless you have to. He seems to get winded and his overall condition seems to wane as the year progresses.

If the right coach can tap into his pride he could be great. He is better than Baughman.

Been a few years since the "outing" at Oldbird's house before the Danville/Highlands game. Hopefully we'll see you there if we make it to the game. (I only have one vote amongst the AdVan passengers, but my vote is being cast for the BW/NC game.:D) However, Henry's tailgating proposals are always difficult to pass up....................I bet those guys would tailgate at a spelling bee competition if the opportunity arose.:sssh:

This Admiral is going to vote for the BW/NC game. Maybe the guru will be there and tailgate.:dancingpa

  4. I think this is the key point. The decision must be made when entering the ninth grade or the student risk the penalty of sitting out a year.

Not a problem, you're a good football player, you know where you want to go. What if Danville HS was near Lexington, I know they are close but what if they were in the Metro area? They would be unstoppable, IMO.

I imagine there are plenty of stories where a middle school athlete left one school to go to another because they thought they would have an impact, but they didn't pan out. Maybe because they didn't mature physically or emotionally the way their parents thought they would and are now missing out on old friendships. That is the risk of open enrolement. I personally don't have a problem with it.

I do believe once a kid is in high-school the KHSSA should be able to regulate when a kid can play but not when a kid should be able to transfer.

  5. I am not sure it is the most difficult job in the state. Highlands in my opinion is the toughest. I think expectations are reasonable for now for Pardue. The talent pool at BC from what I am hearing will be down for a couple of years. I think for Pardue to be a "success", he would have to maintain the attacking style of offense, develop a QB, and make it deep in the playoffs. He will have to show the same work ethic of Smith and commitment to winning. I think if he puts a competitive team on the field that the fans will support him. Even with all their success recently, most longtime fans remember the humble years, and they don't ever want to return to them.

  6. You yourself said these are rumors, so you go out on limb and blame Smith for something that I'm sure he had nothing to do with or at least none of us would know if he did. I'm sure he has been practicing all week and watching film in hopes to win instead of being on the phone with a laywer.

Trust me Smith has bigger worries on his own staff than to worry about the eligibility af a player on another team.

  7. I just got back from Highlands and the rumours are flying. There were 2 lawyers in our group who said that the appeals judge who ruled against Mitchell today was from Boyle land. There are 2 Northern Ky appeals judges and it wasn't one of them. i can't believe Smith would stoop so low. Go Birds

:sssh: :sssh: :sssh: :sssh: That is what we call a trick play!

  8. Now, when I read this bylaw, I get two things that make me think there's going to be a lawyer involved:

1)The bylaw says that this MAY not apply to a state championship competition

2)The bylaw also specifically does not use the word tournament or playoff, only mentioning the 'state title competiton.' Which could be read to mean only the final game, or the whole tournament.

That is why we need to get the Leatherneck on here. These rules are left to a lot of interpretation.
