But if BGs lines have graduated then that will work in x's favor. Or did I misread something on that?
I thought it was X's lines that graduated? In saying that....I think Bowling Green only returns 3-4 starters on defense.
-
I like Rockcastle County by 10. (27-17)
If that is the score then Rockcastle isn't a top 5 team in AAA. I think Rockcastle will win the game easily by 3-4 touchdowns (35-7).
-
Bowling Green would be hard-pressed to match their defense of a year ago. Many predicted the demise and destruction of Bowling Green by St X last year and it never materialized. Turnovers will determine the outcome.
-
Not a good matchup for either team, but desperate times call for desperate measures I suppose. Pendleton has only had team for about 4 years haven't they?

Tennessee wasn't crying about the game being in June when they were dominating the series. This crying started building steam in the volunteer state the past 4-5 years when they started getting beat (minus this year of course). Play it in June or end the series.
-
Beat a good Manual team (already mentioned how successful they were that year).
That Manual team finished 4-6 if i'm not mistaken. Danville is by far the most successful class A school against 3A/4A competition.
-
A few stats over the past 5 years.
Danville is 8-8 against 3A/4A teams. The 8 teams they beat, 4 had a winning record.
Mayfield is 11-10 against 3A/4A teams. The 11 teams they beat, 3 had a winning record.
NCC is 7-3 against 3A/4A teams. The teams they beat, 1 had a winning record.
Beechwood is 5-5 against 3A/4A teams. The teams they beat, 0 had a winning record.
-
Don't tell that to Danville, Beechwood, Mayfield or NCC.
I look for great things from Jaggars and Mercer County. :thumb:
Danville, Beechwood, Mayfield, and NCC all usually struggle when playing 3A schools or higher. They dominate other A and a good majority of the AA schools they would play.

Also, a new rule at our school forbade us from doing any 7-on-7 work with our basketball/football kids through the month of June (due to allowing them to "focus completely" on summer basketball)
Gotta love Kentucky. The first basketball game isn't til the first of December with the district tourney at the end of February. The first football game is August 18! Guess Pikeville is getting all those D1 hoop stars in shape. Did you agree to that Coach J? Looks like the football/basketball coaches could work out their own agreement instead some stringent "focus on basketball" rule laid down by the school. Is Pikeville known for their basketball prowess?

Male
Beaumont is for real, should the rest of the team mature accordingly, I can see him taking them all the way.
Beaumont is very good, but Male will not win unless they change their style of play on the defensive side of the ball.
-
If I recall correctly Harrodsburg didn't field a lot of kids last year but the ones they did have played well.:thumb:
Harrodsburg went 3-8 and the teams they beat won a combined 7 games.
-
Male hasn't done anything, except beat Manual, since Bush left and I don't see their luck changing anytime soon.
Male has also exited the playoffs in the second round 2 consecutive years. I'm going with St X this year. It's a YIN-YANG thing.
-
I don't see this game being close to the best opening game in the state. Might be of interest to those in the Mercer/Harrodsburg area, but of little interest across the state IMO.
-
Alcoa backing out of the contract the last week of June is bush league. It will be difficult for Hopkinsville to find a game this time of the year. To beat it all, Alcoa picks up Booker T Washington in a game that will not be competitive at all.
Here's a question.....who gets the buyout money on the contract, Hopkinsville or Trigg Co.?

Where is Holbrook going to play college football?
-
McLean Co.- Former Owensboro assistant Marshall Enoch is the new head coach.
Perry Central- Hired back former head coach Bert Browne.

Franklin Simpson has beaten Bowling Green 4 times in 20 years. Is that really a rivalry?I know enough to know that even if they have a subpar team, they are quite capable of staying on the same field as the Purples. But then, that's the hallmark of a great rivalry, one of Kentucky's best! The game is at the Big El this year, where BGHS only holds a 9-8 edge over Big Blue since 1969. -
Kentucky had over 100 yds of offense in the first qtr and then finished the game with about 235. They were balanced and throwing the football down the field. After the first qtr, it seemed like the offense had no rythm and was just drawing straws for plays.
Micah Johnson will not play LB at UK. He is too slow to play LB at that level. He will be a bigtime down lineman as he is a physical monster. He also made a couple of bonehead plays with 2 personal fouls.
Tennessee was the faster team and played much like the Kentucky team has the previous 4 years. TN acted like they wanted to be there, KY did not.
-
Does anyone think that the smaller schools who have a stud player get over looked way too much as far as this game goes?
No.
-
Not sure what players have opted out for Tennessee but this article is disturbing for the Tennessee side of the All-star contest.

I hope the Mercer Trailblazer faithful aren't setting themselves up for a big let down. Mercer Co. lost some very good players from '05 and for '06 you are adding a few skill players from Harrodsburg that won only 3 games against 2-8 Owen Co., 3-8 Trimble Co., and 3-7 Carroll Co. Goodluck to the Trailblazers, but i'll reserve judgement till about week 5 to determine if Mercer is a "state championship" calibar team to deal with the likes of Russell, Newport, Lloyd, and Belfry in order to get to the state championship game.I think they could be state champions, with all those players and Coach Jaggers.:ylsuper:
Rockcastle County vs. Corbin....Week 1
in KY Football (High School)
Posted
If the Hounds win the Rock might as well stop the talk of getting to the AAA state championship game. Corbin isn't considered by most to be a top 10-2A team.
